Not sure what to make of this to be honest.

Isn't that interfering with the workings of the government? A firing offense surely. Or misconduct in a public office: a criminal offense

RozWatching · 16/10/2020 18:17

That's shocking Shed. Yet another fucking hurdle for constituents. I wonder how common that is, it would explain why so many MPs are out of touch on this issue?

PurpleHoodie · 16/10/2020 18:46

I've been in contact with my own MP about Rosie Duffield. I've made a point of contacting her every month by email, attaching items for her to read. She had a Zoom surgery the other day and I managed to get an appointment. It became clear that her staff had failed to pass on most of my emails — probably filed them in the bin. She has contacted me privately, without their knowledge, and wants to talk next week. I suspect she's not the only MP whose young, woke staff have been doing this. It's scandalous

@Shedbuilder

I think there are quite a few young women who like to think of themselves as SJWs and see this as their fight. It's the only way I can explain all the intelligent, lefty, apparently feminist women (including lesbians) who are out there supporting men against women.

Sorry, still scraping my jaw off the floor on this one.

That's bloody apalling. But great news that your MP is prepared to talk about it (I suspect she may be scraping her jaw off the floor too).

It's happening across the board Shedbuilder.

Maybe the messages from GC women don't go directly in to the bin but they certainly don't get to the MPs (or the SMs in Wales).

Many of us have contacted our representatives repeatedly about women's rights issues to no avail. Tumbleweed usually. Occasionally a patronising cut and paste non-communication about inclusion and fairness to the most vulnerable. Then more tumbleweed.

The ideology is having a serious negative impact on what's left of our democracy.

@nauticant

Helen Lewis was accused of lying by Pink News over something she said on Radio 4 this morning and she is currently wiping the floor with them on twitter:

They are a very unpleasant propaganda rag.

That thread is hilarious Grin

The denial of writing 4 articles before reading it, then being presented with said articles, only to say one of the 4 was not about JKR..its just bizarre. They lie so much they don't even know when they do it it seems. Even if we discounted the one thats apparently not about JKR (though, all mention her so..editorial oversight indeed) then there would still be 3, before the book was read, while they still claim only 1 beforehand.

And even if there had just been bloody one before they read it, what the hell is the point in reviewing a book without reading it reviewing a review of a book you haven't read. This is 'news'.

Finally, taking offese at 'activist'. AND whinging about cancel culture when thats half their 'articles'?!

I sometimes wonder if people like this are simply trolling. As its is nonsensical they cannot possibly think like this.

FloralBunting · 17/10/2020 07:46

What is so funny is that they're yukking it up like 6th form boys who think they've pwned their teacher, seemingly oblivious to what completely clueless wankers she's shown them up as.

I think their obliviousness is definitely the key comedy element here. The sketch should end with her walking away, smiling, cool and imperious, and then they suddenly stopping mid-yuk as it finally clicks that she's made fools of them...

Today in the Spectator, article by Julie Bindell. Only had a quick scan, but the more articles the better

Cwenthryth · 17/10/2020 10:28

That’s lovely by JB. A clear plea to RD’s parliamentary and party colleagues to stand against bullying, no matter what your own beliefs on the issue.

I've seen so many people on Twitter song they've never heard back from MPs on these issues, or had a really dismissive response. Wonder how many of these were actually from MPs?

Do we need to stop writing and start seeking surgery slots?

SunsetBeetch · 17/10/2020 14:18

I think they might just be rather thick.

MerchedCymru · 17/10/2020 18:45

Do we need to stop writing and start seeking surgery slots?

Probably but it's really stressful isn't it? Especially when you suspect the starting point will be 'toxic on both sides' or 'TWAW'. Plus this whole interlinked mess has been rendered so complex / barking that it's really difficult to simply have a chat about it like you would with your concerns about how often the bins re emptied or whether we need more social housing.

It's a serious problem.

This is why actions such as sending flowers and postcards (easy for security to check) to MPs such as Rosie Duffield is a good idea.

Consistently. Open, honest easy to check communications. Let the MPs know in multiple (and positive) ways that they have been sent communications (It keeps their staffers accountable for any that may get thrown away by them.)

Book face-to-face meetings with MP Reps.
