Fantastic. She is so brilliant at outlining it all clearly. But it sadly proves everything we suspected.

She’s so completely excellent. As a young woman (born just after she started on Woman’s Hour) she’s just the sort of role model I want and need.

This is awful news. A woman whose job was about women has lost her job because she knows what a woman is.

*A woman like me has knowledge, wisdom and experience. She was not in a BBC studio for any reason but to present the crucial issues of the day and elicit opinion from her guests, never broadcast her own.

But she has opinions — sometimes controversial ones — and she will not be silenced.*

At the BBC ...I was roundly ticked off publicly and informed that I would not be allowed to chair any discussions on the trans question or the proposed changes to the Gender Recognition Act. I had lots of emails and tweets asking me why I had not been involved in this debate, as it was so important to Woman’s Hour listeners. You have the answer

Seems to me that the impartiality principle at the BBC is very far from impartially applied.

That’s a good piece. I like the articulation of the issues around what “impartiality” does and should mean.

Great article except for the 'assigned at birth' bollocks. Sex is not assigned, it is observed.

Or is 'assigned' another word that has had its meaning changed?

To be fair, Gary Lineker doesn’t comment on politics on the BBC, but Andrew Neil was part of the BBC’s election night coverage.

Banning JM from covering the election because she wrote something uncontroversial about Europe doesn’t make sense.

Jenni Murray is bloody brilliant woman and her leaving WH feels like the end of an era. Her not being able to talk about women's issues and women's rights on women's hour is almost unbelievable and it must have been so frustrating to be in that position. Good for her for speaking up and being the leader she has always been.
