Look who is coming out to bat (again)

Just seen Jo M twitter feed. I assume this is his response to the DfE guidance although it isn’t explicit. I agree with him that children should have quicker access to quality mental health resources but I then part company with him on the results of that. He ignores the whistle blowers from within GIDS on parental pressure and the NHS on the impact of puberty blockers. He then rounds off with a sideswipe at JKR and the promise of the Good Law Project looking at this area. He seems to be doubling down when Mermaids is furiously back pedalling.

From quote
Who chooses that for a child?

Uh, their parents who have been told that by the gender clinic because they have been told, by TRAs like you that if they don't follow an 100% affirmation-only approach to gender identity, they will be resonsible for the child's future suicide.

Also "coming out to bat" - I see what you did there Grin

PurpleHoodie · 28/09/2020 10:25

Goodness.

He has not one ounce of class about him.

ButcherManWasSomeLady · 28/09/2020 10:28

(Kim) oh no, not this inadequate man again!

yes - I guessed who it was before even reading the thread. Nicely done.

I do wonder sometimes if the tie up between Mumsnet and the Batting QC ( on the Gingerbread project) is somehow influencing the moderation of this board.

ErrolTheDragon · 28/09/2020 10:34

So... he's got some evidence that puberty blockers are fully reversible and harmless, has he? Hmm

KatVonlabonk · 28/09/2020 10:36

There's a certain type of individual who will never admit they were wrong.

Same type of individual who'd post about beating foxes to death on boxing day and despite multiple posts telling him to take it down, carries on joking with his chums.

ChakaDakotaRegina · 28/09/2020 10:37

‘Weird how an obviously ridiculous notion takes hold’
while watching someone identify into women’s sports, lesbian groups, women’s prisons etc.
Irony check, table 4.

OvaHere · 28/09/2020 10:37

Just posted this on another thread. Seems like an incredibly bad move by someone who is incapable of reading the room. For anyone who followed his fox tweets this won't be a great surprise.

KatVonlabonk · 28/09/2020 10:41

I'm sure he has all the evidence, he needs to pass this on to Carl Heneghan, professor of evidence based medicine at Oxford University. I'm sure Carl, who also edits the British Medical Journal's for evidence based medicine, will be delighted to be called an anti vaccer.

Jo M doth protest too much, I think, hope he can live with himself

Ereshkigalangcleg · 28/09/2020 10:44

"Insulated by her wealth from any real consequence" do tell what "real consequence" you think should apply, Jolyon dear.

Of course he can. He's labouring under the delusion he's a good guy.

thinkingaboutLangCleg · 28/09/2020 11:08

It's depressing that someone so stupid has so much wealth and power. It's a reminder that we'll never be able to stop defending children, the task is endless. But worth the trouble.

Freespeecher · 28/09/2020 11:09

Kimono Jolyon, think of what you're saying here.

NecessaryScene1 · 28/09/2020 11:11

Didn't he get quite upset about the reaction to his Boxing Day exploits? Don't know why - he didn't face any real consequences.

The thing is he can't read the room because he's blocked everyone who disagrees with him. Hence, I'm assuming, the very few responses to his series.

Yes, I'd love to know what he'd like to see happen to a woman who has the temerity to express an opinion.

Is he a character out of a Dickens novel?

its got 1000 likes though tbf,

his big insult is amateur hobbyist' - (are there any other?) JKR is unlike him, a highly professional professional when it comes to women and children's meds.

hes such an asshole.

Helmetbymidnight · 28/09/2020 11:34

the good law project are going to make an announcement shortly.
Hmm

ErrolTheDragon · 28/09/2020 11:34

How the hell does he work out that a woman standing up for women's rights, (remember this mainly kicked off with posting about the need to be allowed to appropriately use the word "women" )is an 'amateur hobbyist'? JKR has skin in this game, as do all women.Hmm

Helmetbymidnight · 28/09/2020 11:36

'- cis feminist trans supporter? the right wing press tells me there is no such thing?'

urgh does it get any more smarmy than that.

Bodoni · 28/09/2020 11:39

Just to say, I had actually been supporting Good Law Project for taking on some of the current government’s illegal actions - thinking “well I know he’s a bit silly about trans but he’s correct on this”. But I’m not having this, it’s outrageous - so I’ve unsubscribed as have other members of my family. I hope more people do too.
