Just seen Jo M twitter feed. I assume this is his response to the DfE guidance although it isn’t explicit. I agree with him that children should have quicker access to quality mental health resources but I then part company with him on the results of that. He ignores the whistle blowers from within GIDS on parental pressure and the NHS on the impact of puberty blockers. He then rounds off with a sideswipe at JKR and the promise of the Good Law Project looking at this area. He seems to be doubling down when Mermaids is furiously back pedalling.

and 'it needs to be said that the BbC has a real problem with transphobia' 'there is a huge dossier of evidence' apparently. Hmm

HecatesHat · 28/09/2020 11:49

It really doesn't take much for their misogyny to spill out does it? Blunt says Truss is 'overburdened', Maugham describes JKR as an 'amateur hobbyist'. We know these men of old. Women are inept, or worse; vile & unkind. Who will think of the children?! Only the mens.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 28/09/2020 11:55

@Helmetbymidnight

the good law project are going to make an announcement shortly. Hmm
Good. The more court cases, the more sunlight.
BovaryX · 28/09/2020 12:12

Same type of individual who'd post about beating foxes to death on boxing day and despite multiple posts telling him to take it down, carries on joking with his chums

Well said. This clown's moral barometer is seriously off whack.

It really is sickening, their childish little insults. They show their true colours though.

I wonder if he keeps a dossier on Mumsnet too. Maybe he is actually a Monitor.
TreestumpsAndTrampolines · 28/09/2020 12:31

"Insulated by her wealth from any real consequence" do tell what "real consequence" you think should apply, Jolyon dear.

Well, sure, now. Not so much 30-odd years ago though huh? Not that Jolyon would know, having been 'insulated by his sex and wealth from any real consequence' himself.

everythingcrossed · 28/09/2020 12:39

@Helmetbymidnight

he is so certain puberty blockers are reversible.
He links to a page from the Mayo Clinic as evidence but even that says:

Possible side effects of GnRH analogue treatment include:

Injection site swelling
Weight gain
Hot flashes
Headaches

Use of GnRH analogues might also have long-term effects on:

Bone density
Future fertility

It is also an American site (from what I can tell) and so likely to be much more pro-medical intervention.

everythingcrossed · 28/09/2020 12:40

The site also implies that height will be adversely affected and that there may be genital abnormality.

I think I'd rather trust an 'amateur hobbyist' than a doctor who has had their licence suspended due to their unethical practises, and subsequently fled the country to continue providing off-label meds via the internet, tbh.

Not unless he's got a fucking time machine, they're not.

PronounssheRa · 28/09/2020 13:37

I've been worried for a while that he would drag the good law project into this.

SunsetBeetch · 28/09/2020 15:26

I've just realised that another tedious wanker, Owen Jones, retweeted this one.

Anyway, here is a lovely meme I found on twitter.

HecatesHat · 28/09/2020 15:32

I'm surprised Jones hasn't cancelled Maugham after his inappropriate HIV joke earlier this year. Truly does seem that it's one rule for some...

It's interesting, at a time where medical negligence solicitors are starting to circle Maugham decides to use the good law project as a means to attempt to get even more children medicalised, some for life.

He is so personally invested in this he cant be objective (I also think he is a raging misogynist, so will only listen to women who agree with him)

If you haven't already listened to Douglas Murray on talk radio this morning, have listen, the last 30 seconds are a blistering attack on mermaids.

Weird how an obviously ridiculous notion takes hold.

Yes. Who’d have thought that anyone could regard a person with a penis as a woman?

No one encourages children into a cycle of psychological treatment then drugs and then surgery. Who chooses that for a child?

Perhaps the kind of person who takes a child abroad for life-changing surgery that would be illegal in UK?

I guess the myth is just easier to grapple with than the reality.

Yep

@Bodoni

Just to say, I had actually been supporting Good Law Project for taking on some of the current government’s illegal actions - thinking “well I know he’s a bit silly about trans but he’s correct on this”. But I’m not having this, it’s outrageous - so I’ve unsubscribed as have other members of my family. I hope more people do too.
I haven't monetariy supported The Good Law Project but last year spent many hours demonstrating outside the Court of Session in Edinburgh and saw Joylon and Joanna Cherry in action. I think Dear Joylon is a TINY bit too much in love with himself. I would walk over hot coals for Joanna. Brilliant on her brief just doing her job. I'd vote SNP if she was leader.
