I was pissed off to see Holly Lawford-Smith in the live stream comments saying she feels sorry for the police. There's enough TRA s attacking Kellie-Jay without feminist academics joining in with snark.

OvaHere · 20/09/2020 13:59

@MillyMollyFarmer

I believe more women have been arrested than just Posie.

Any idea who? Is anyone live tweeting about their? The police are a disgrace

No. I have a vague idea who some of them could be but I don't have details. Just heard that at least 3 may have been arrested.
BaronessWrongCrowd · 20/09/2020 14:00

According to GC Twitter Posie has been released but they have been arresting other women protesting.

TheFleegleHasLanded · 20/09/2020 14:00

Video is now up and running again:

WTF? Thanks for the solidarity, sister.
MillyMollyFarmer · 20/09/2020 14:05

Well I think we’re used to the academics behaving like this aren’t we?

queenofknives · 20/09/2020 14:10

Something about Kellie Jay seems to set them off on some kind of superiority spiral.

SorryImKnew · 20/09/2020 14:15

The smallest protest I've ever seen and she happily says that all women (plural) care about her and her campaign?

Can she not see that there is literally no support for her apart from a handful (14 I think?). In a whole city? What is the population of Leeds?

Dear oh dear. I'd be embarrassed to be there.

MyDogSmells · 20/09/2020 14:17

I have mixed feeling on Posie generally but the claim that Standing for Women isn't a political organisation and therefore this was not a political protest is dubious to say the least and needs challenging.

I hope Posie challenges her fine on this basis.

SmudgeButt · 20/09/2020 14:18

Def a problem with spelling - my search came up with the lead of a Canadian rock band.

And it's "spelled" not "spelt". spelt is a grain. ; )

SorryImKnew · 20/09/2020 14:18

What on earth does she think she's going to change? And her and what army exactly? They've no placards, no agenda, nothing coherent at all to say that I can see. They need a slightly better organiser. As for that promotion video. I think she mentioned 10 times in one minute that she had been at uni/university and had a degree in Theology. Theology is an interesting background I'd say!

unwashedanddazed · 20/09/2020 14:18

What is funny is now quiet the police in the car got when they were told it was still being livestreamed. I hope they managed to work out why they were arresting her by the time they got to the station. Three different reasons were spoken of. I just imagined them mentally rewinding all they'd said up til that point. An idiot in the stream claimed he rang Elland Rd station to tell them about the phone being on. Not going to name him here. Cause he likes it.

Floisme · 20/09/2020 14:19

A small protest, maximum publicity.
That's why she's clever.

SorryImKnew · 20/09/2020 14:19

Is it a political organisation though?

BatShite · 20/09/2020 14:20

I would be embarassed to think that just because there are a handful of people at this particular protest, that means only those currently attending care. Multiple reasons to not go to a protest but support the cause.

'All women' supporting her though..she shouldn't have said that as that will be the line jumped on to disregard the rest of what she is saying, like usual. Of course no cause in the world has 100% of any group of people supporting it. So her saying this will bring out the NAMALT type people in force! Not that shes likely to care though I guess

MyDogSmells · 20/09/2020 14:21

An organisation set up to campaign on existing and proposed law? Er, yes.

TabbyStar · 20/09/2020 14:21

Is it a political organisation though

Well it's an organisation, and it aims to influence the political process, so I'd say yes. Why wouldn't it be?

Mollscroll · 20/09/2020 14:21

Think it’s Kellie-Jay. Google that spelling.

BaronessWrongCrowd · 20/09/2020 14:21

She's vocally standing up for women's rights. What have you done for women recently?
SorryImKnew · 20/09/2020 14:22

A small protest, maximum publicity.

Publicity? Do you think it will make any headlines?

Mollscroll · 20/09/2020 14:22

And what morons Posters are too political for Nat Rail. Women meeting about their rights are not political enough Confused

MillyMollyFarmer · 20/09/2020 14:23

SorryImKnew

Hmm quite a lot of women care about women’s rights dear. Just not you.

SorryImKnew · 20/09/2020 14:23

Nothing in particular, then again, I'm not a rebel without a cause.

HPFA · 20/09/2020 14:24

@ChardonnaysPetDragon

Was anyone arrested in the Trafalgar Square protests yesterday?
32. But I believe the protest itself was held to be legal - the arrests were presumably for violent/disorderly behaviour at the march.

But saying this protest isn't "political" is absurd. If there was to be a protest objecting to the decision not to go ahead with self-ID that would clearly be political whether we agreed with the cause or not.
