@SorryImKnew

Was she charged? Interviewed? What was/were the charge(s). Very little info on here. In the absence of information, people make assumptions, which can of course be rebuffed AFTER the fact.
I never make assumptions without the full story. I find that a very odd thing to say,
SorryImKnew · 22/09/2020 13:23

First of all the narrative was that the women were disgusted by not being allowed to speak. The police were nasty bullying misogynistic men.
Then the narrative was changed - within hours - that they had actually wanted to be arrested in order to appear in court and that this had been their plan all along. The fact that they had spent 2 hours trying to comply with the legislation is by the by apparently. No - their goal was to get arrested to raise maximum publicity.

If they don't get their day in court I suspect the narrative will change to 'we made our point, don't need hassle of a court case'.

The whole shambles reminds me of when I was living with a bunch of hippies at uni who used to climb trees and live up them to save the trees, all the while getting stoned as asses on drugs, with a yearly wash thrown in.

I find that every good fact proven started off with an hypothesis i.e. some unknown fact that was presumed or assumed in order to be proven or disproven.

SorryImKnew · 22/09/2020 13:26

Milly and Millenium. It's good to see you support each other. Lovely to see.

[quote MilleniumHallsWalledGarden]Just saw this on twitter. Haven't read it yet, but her protest has clearly reached a wide audience.

Interesting to see. (Just checked National Review as I do with all news sources I'm not familiar with: Media Bias Fact Check gives it a "right of centre, mostly factual" rating, FWIW). I'll be interested to see if it makes it into any of the nationals over here (it's been reported in the WYP.)

DialSquare · 22/09/2020 13:28

There you go making assumptions again. All the women there would have been quite happy to go ahead and speak just like they have done on numerous other times previously, however, the situation changed as soon as the police became involved. Poise decided she would rather be arrested than accept a fine for doing nothing wrong. That would give her a chance to fight her cause in court. What a brave woman.

@SorryImKnew

I've seen nothing akin to intelligent debate here. I've seen a lot of school-yard bullying, praising each other while attempting to ridicule me, quoting me ad nauseum, pulling certain parts of my posts out of context, trying to get me banned, laughing at your little jibes at me etc. etc., quoting each other with laughing emojis whenever another poster attacks me etc. I've seen no constructive, incisive or thoughtful arguing.
Hi HQ

Goady, attacking.

Thanks

OldCrony · 22/09/2020 13:31

Massive-name-fuck up, sorry.

MilleniumHallsWalledGarden - there, got it!

And yes, sorry. I've reported you more than once on this thread.
You won't shut us up.

@OldCrony

I'm just scrolling past. Their post don't add anything of value to the conversation anyway.

Super advice. I wish people could find it in themselves to follow it, MillenniumWallsHalledGarden

Third goading post in just a series in the past 30 minutes trying to intimidate me off the thread by ganging up childishly.
MilleniumHallsWalledGarden · 22/09/2020 13:33

CaraDuneRedux

Yes, from what I remember I saw her views that women have rights in law and should be allowed to speak about them being labelled 'controversial' in the WYP, which seemed a bit controversial in itself!

SorryImKnew · 22/09/2020 13:37

Well that's ironic, giving that 99% of all of your threads directed at me are efforts to get me to shut up.

CaraDuneRedux · 22/09/2020 13:37

Yes, Millenium, I noted that in the WYP and was absolutely furious about it.

I think I mentioned upthread (but at the risk of being boring I'll say it again) - quite coincidentally I was listening to Jenni Murray on Emmeline Pankhurst the morning before everything in Leeds blew up, and it was interesting to see the parallels with the establishment back in the early 20th century refusing to give the Sufragette protesters recognition as political protesters, and instead insisting on treating them as common criminals.

What do you want me to say Facefullofcake?

"I disagree, or there's nothing worth responding to there - here, have some more cake"?

Facefullofcake · 22/09/2020 13:43

Isn't that exactly what you've been doing with most other posters on here? Except the cake bit, obvs.

MillyMollyFarmer · 22/09/2020 13:43

Milly and Millenium. It's good to see you support each other. Lovely to see.

See what I mean? You write this goady passive aggressive meaningless drivel and then complain others are childish. You’ve contributed nothing of meaning.

MilleniumHallsWalledGarden · 22/09/2020 13:45

Yes, I saw your post on the suffragettes, I've been meaning to listen to the piece. The way some men think about women doesn't change does it.

TinselAngel · 22/09/2020 13:45

Let's not get drawn into a bun fight, we need this thread to stand.

CaraDuneRedux · 22/09/2020 13:46

People - can I draw everyone's attention to the link to the MNHQ comment which you will find at the top of this and every page on this thread?

This thread contains many links to very interesting video footage and discussions of that footage. It would be a shame were people to respond to goading by losing their collective rags and thus ending up contributing to the thread being pulled.

Incidentally - unconnected with anyone in particular on this thread - this is a deliberate tactic which has been used in the past by people who would rather some things were not publicised/discussed at all.

And particularly on anything to do with Posie.
