I hope there are many lurkers reading this thread.

SorryImKnew · 21/09/2020 11:55

On what basis did the police advise Claire/Posey not to go ahead with the event if they feel within the exemption categories?

SorryImKnew · 21/09/2020 11:56

fell not feel

DeliciouslyFemale · 21/09/2020 11:56

I was having a chat about the way Posie and the rest of those brilliant women (I think I heard a man too) were treated. She’s GC too! She also knows about Posie’s work. Funny, considering our previous poster had never heard of her, yet we both had and we’re in NI.

There will be dial. Always are

MilleniumHallsWalledGarden · 21/09/2020 11:57

I'm sure there are DialSquare, what with it being kept high up in active convos so efficiently. It seems to have been there most of the morning.

Chiming in with pointless speculation will do that. Which is great!
CaraDuneRedux · 21/09/2020 11:59

Specially when the pointless speculation is so easily rebutted.

The phrase "own goal" springs to mind.

And every time a poster takes the tactic of shaming women for discussing women's rights, we all add to the knowledge base with keeping to the facts. As frustrating as it is, these posters provide some additional clarity around events.

DialSquare · 21/09/2020 12:05

Indeed Winesalot. I lurked for a number of years and this is the sort of thread that I would read. I always came to the same conclusion.

Standing for Women is a political organisation. Leeds police will be hyper aware of Posie Parker. WYP already interviewed her under caution 2 1/2 years ago for goodness sake. The database will be full of her.

So if the police are lying, they should be held accountable. If they got their wires crossed, they can easily explain how.

It's not difficult.

Posie's entire campaigns is to draw attention to the issues. It's about publicity.

Says the one who thinks that getting arrested by the police and not being allowed to speak was Posie et als master genius plan all along! grin

Your speculation skills seem to be failing you here SorryImKnew.

Fourteen women talking into a virtually empty square...

...versus thread after thread, video after video, and Twitter and other social media alive with speculation, comments, opinion, talking.

Followed by the repercussions of the multiple arrests, whether wrongful or not, the optics, the ratio, the outrage.

Not to mention all the people who don't give a monkeys about identity politics, but are fuming over the free speech aspect.

OldCrony · 21/09/2020 12:06

The freedom to ignore someone's freedom of speech is a wonderful thing.

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 21/09/2020 12:07

SorryImKnew I thought you were bored to years of this thread and had finished with it. For God's sake, if you're going to flounce, flounce. Do make up your mind.

From the SFW facebook page, so I'm assuming posted by KJK herself:

Just to be clear, for all of those at the back, the police were told repeatedly that Standing For Women are a political organisation and met the criteria to be considered one. Both Claire, who had endured hours on the phone with the police, and I had told them. Chief Inspector Norbury, it was suggested, had decided we were not.

I have evidence to prove this and the police recorded their end of the call.

I also sent a written account of our status and risk assessment.

SorryImKnew · 21/09/2020 12:12

I'll post where I want to post, when I want to post and what I want to post. Just because I'm not a blind follower of the 'legend' that is Posie doesn't mean that I can't speak on this thread. If you want to try to A troll hunt and accuse me of being Adrian, a man, or a TRA or B bully me off the thread because my views don't suit yours, then I suggest you read the posting guidelines of this website. Thanks.

Datun · 21/09/2020 12:13

I seem to remember according to the data analytics a few years ago, for every poster there are twelve lurkers.

Something which those who want to shut women up, fail to understand.

SorryImKnew · 21/09/2020 12:14

Sounds like it comes down to whether Norbery's decision was right or wrong then.

Kazakaren · 21/09/2020 12:15

I've now decided to invoke the virtual "hide poster" button

Wasn't mumsnet going to do this at some point? It's no different to the block functions on Twitter and Facebook. I'd definitely pay if that feature was added.

MillyMollyFarmer · 21/09/2020 12:16

I suggest you read the posting guidelines of this website

You should too. You’re not allowed to personally attack other users, calling them idiotic etc is against the first guideline

Redshoeblueshoe · 21/09/2020 12:16

I'm loving the fact that the police have recorded their own lives.

Redshoeblueshoe · 21/09/2020 12:16

Lies - obviously.
