The awful trend on Twitter

Hi, I don't post often, but I've seen the awful twitter trend today in regard to J K Rowling, I just feel so scared and defeated about women's rights, why are more people not up in arms and defending us? I also fear for her and women's safety, as some of these TRA's seem really unhinged.

Honestly women need to start boycotting twitter in large numbers (I have closed my account and just read things there now when something like this happens).

It's a total woke TRA fest, many of the moderators are TRAs and Jack is an archetypal Woke Bro so things aren't going to change on there any time soon.

IHeartSusanDey · 17/09/2020 16:29

I deactivated mine. The hatred and palpable evil of the people there were harming my mental health. I don't be around thugs like that IRL so I had to question why I was around them in my online life. I won't ever go back.

FloralBunting · 17/09/2020 17:27

Deleted my Twitter account some time ago. Continuing my novena for it's total destruction on an ongoing basis.

MarshaBradyo · 17/09/2020 17:30

I have never joined. But it does seem to have fallen into more of a cesspit of hatred.

"Troubled Blood, the new book from Robert Galbraith, has shifted more copies in a day than Lethal White sold in its first week, according to publisher
@LittleBrownUK

DontDribbleOnTheCarpet · 19/09/2020 13:48

Excellent! I hope it continues to sell in massive numbers!

ArabellaScott · 19/09/2020 13:59

I deleted Twitter a/c last year, and I have to say I do feel much better for it.

emilybrontescorsett · 19/09/2020 14:05

I hope it continues to sell too. Well done JK.

So do I.

Blair White has made a video after reading the book (spoiler: she doesn’t think it's transphobic, she does think these activists are idiots).

[/quote] I like her! She comes across as very articulate and self-reflective.

My copy of True Bloody arrived today.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 20/09/2020 08:32

I've been very struck by the childishness of many of the activists. It's terribly reminiscent of dealing with a toddler at the 'Waaaaaaaaah, you peeleded my nana! I wanted the nana NOT PEELEDED!' or a teenager railing against her/his mother for enforcing a curfew because 'Everybody else is going! Nobody else's parents are like this! You hate me, you're so lame' etc etc.

All the comments saying 'Harry wrote the books, they're not hers any more' and the ludicrous assertions that she wrote the book and got it published in the last month to double down on her 'transphobia' as expressed in early July - so silly.

SerenityNowwwww · 20/09/2020 08:33

Very young, just acting very young, bots, just not very bright people...

MondayYogurt · 21/09/2020 18:11

So child friendly. So normal and balanced and not obsessive.

That is the most depressing thing I have seen. How nasty. I used to love muggle net back in the day.

Are there any pro JKR Harry Potter fan sites?

The Strike Fans site is pro JKR which is one thing.

JamieLeeCurtains · 21/09/2020 18:44

Yes, I get what you mean about tantrumming toddlers melded with utterly spoiled teenagers who have never heard the word 'No' and been required to comply.

Maybe that's why they hate puberty, because it forces them to approach adulthood whether they like it or not.

So the idea of 'puberty blockers' and some kind of eternal childhood is very appealing to a certain group of ego-driven young people, whose enthusiasm is then exploited by those with very dodgy agendas.

SerenityNowwwww · 21/09/2020 20:10

I guess it’s the online version of teen girls shoplifting lipgloss from Boots on a Saturday afternoon... all for the giggles.

lionheart · 21/09/2020 20:12

That account with the threat has been suspended.

Siablue · 21/09/2020 20:14

@lionheart

That account with the threat has been suspended.
Which one? There are so many of them.
SerenityNowwwww · 21/09/2020 20:14

I hope the police are having a look. I doubt it though.

chliing19 · 21/09/2020 20:31

Half way through and the book is fantastic - her best yet

SerenityNowwwww · 21/09/2020 20:34

Are there good, gory murders? Because I love a good gory murder...

BraveBananaBadge · 22/09/2020 09:51

I try to stay off Twitter as much as possible these days it was making me feel so bad - in fact, started coming here instead the day some idiot comedy writer called the whole site a ‘hotbed of transphobia‘ or some nonsense. So many seemingly intelligent people wanting to shut women up (oh yes, blocked by Frankie Boyle too of course, despite having nothing whatsoever to do with him, could only be on a list of some kind for following the wrong people)... Realised there was no doubt which side I was on!

LangClegTheBeardedVulture · 22/09/2020 10:11

I finished Troubled Blood this morning- what a beast of a novel!

There are no trans characters or transphobic undertone. But it is an extremely feminist novel and she should be applauded for it's scope.
