OK,
Reading MN sometimes, even though I love it and really need to step away half the time lol - can see some comparisons.
I mean, Dementors, threads on MN certainly feel like the Dementors swooping in
Argh
Also Voldemort repressing people "not worthy" - eg Muggles. All be pure blood, no mud blood! or else!
Blueurgh

Quaagars · 30/08/2020 18:57

Not much need to quote me then, was there?

There was when it directly related to my post and point. Which was DBS checking.

What are you on about?

Are you saying that women who want to protect their sex segregated spaces are akin to wizards who don't like muggles because they are not 'pure blood'?

Well.... Its novel, I'll give you that!

I'm afraid I don't understand the argument in favour of gender ideology you are making here.
SoManyActivities · 30/08/2020 19:00

So you think that we should get rid of DBS checks then because 'we need to believe that people say they are who they are, and also some bad people will slip through anyway'?

Because that is the argument for throwing open women's spaces to anyone who fancies accessing them.

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 30/08/2020 19:17

You think it's fine for a creepy adult who is not a Doctor, to offer to insert a 10yo child's tampon-I don't think any person here frankly gives a shit about your opinion of them

What the actual hell is wrong with some people 😳

Doctors dont help children to put tampons in...Ive never heard of that!

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 30/08/2020 19:18

There isn’t one

Quaagars · 30/08/2020 19:25

Doctors dont help children to put tampons in...Ive never heard of that!

Did anyone say it was OK
Anyone wanting to do that, just nope
Not sure what's that got to do with being trans or not though
Inappropriate whoever you are.

isabellerossignol · 30/08/2020 19:28

Well someone on this thread said it was fine. I strongly suspect they were on the wind up, and I really hope they were. But then the delightful Jessica Yaniv has been pretty open about wanting to do it so who's to say that others don't feel the same?

yourhairiswinterfire · 30/08/2020 19:28

According to Sweet they do, so it's fine for JY, who they've never heard of, to offer to do this too. 🤢

Gingerkittykat · 30/08/2020 19:33
How many women have been attacked since transwomen have been using women's toilets?

There are plenty of instances of 'transwomen' attacking girls and women.

Here's one:
metro.co.uk/2019/03/16/transgender-woman-18-sexually-assaulted-girl-10-morrisons-toilet-8914577/
This was only one of the attacks, this person had previously attacked a girl in the Asda in a neighbouring town.

Dolatowski was then placed in a women only hostel with shared toilet facilities and only moved when there was an outcry.

Whose rights should come first? The rights of the girls she assaulted and the women who were put in danger in the hostel or hers?

DialSquare · 30/08/2020 19:35

Ridiculous isn't it. Sweet comes on here to tell us all how horrible we are and to be kind but when someone points out some of the sick shit that is happening around this ideology, they say it should be fine as doctors do it (do they?!!!) without batting an eyelid. Well by that logic I should have got the milkman to remove my gallbladder!
EdgeOfACoin · 30/08/2020 19:43

I may have misread, but to be fair I think Sweet was admitting she wasn't aware of the case and thought that there may have been one or two situations where an adult helping a girl with a tampon might be acceptable. A medical situation would have been one of these.

I have the distinct impression that many of the people on the non-gc side of the argument don't quite know what they are supporting.

I'm 99.9% sure they do not. I actually don't know why any one would be under the impression that they do...

Doctor's perform smear tests, but I sure as shit wouldn't let JY anywhere near me.

I think they disappeared not long after that comment, but not before declaring their Sunday had been ruined. Must have looked up who JY is.

Justhadathought · 30/08/2020 19:48

Honestly, there is so much fear in this thread. Women are more afraid than they ever were yet rape hasn't gone up

it's not about fear, but about dignity and integrity. And it has not really got that much to do with rape for most women, but about the natural need for the privacy and comfort of their sex.

The issue is not so much violent males in women's spaces, although that, of course, is of critical importance, but about the fact that sex exists, has relevance, and is actively/consciously registered. Single sex spaces exist for a reason.

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 30/08/2020 19:49

Inappropriate whoever you are

Absolutely!

sweet brought It up...i think they think its ok

They might not now theyve had a chance to think about it a bit more (hopeful)

RedtreesRedtrees · 30/08/2020 19:53

What happens now the non-GC people have left the thread? Do we just carry on making the same points we always make? Or perhaps could discuss our favourite work of fiction by JKR. She’s incredible!

Justhadathought · 30/08/2020 19:53

Well I’ve definitely changed my views. I didn’t realise until now that trans people are all sexual predators determined to attack us at the first opportunity and whose sole aim in life is to again access to our lavatories

I don't think you have a clue what the issue is, as you seem totally oblivious to the lived reality of women: insensitive to it, and utterly disregarding of it. It is not rocket science to understand that women value and require single sex spaces, especially in intimate situations. It matter snot how lovely the trans person and their friends thinks they are...it is about the reality and integrity of sex, and how sex is a defining characteristic in certain circumstances.

This is not about personal identity. Identity has got nothing to do with it.

Justhadathought · 30/08/2020 19:54

It matters not haha!

MilleniumHallsWalledGarden · 30/08/2020 19:54

I have the distinct impression that many of the people on the non-gc side of the argument don't quite know what they are supporting.

They're quite happy to give away the rights of all women, and risk the health and wellbeing of vulnerable children without having done the most basic research into the consequences of their thoughtless support though.

PheasantPlucker1 · 30/08/2020 19:57

Can we discuss JK? I havent read any of the Galbraith books, which ones best to start with?

I love how she is conducting herself on twitter. Very reasonable, articulate, and never lowering herself to insults when so many have been thrown at her.

RedtreesRedtrees · 30/08/2020 19:58

Justhadathought I agree!

RedtreesRedtrees · 30/08/2020 19:59

Pheasant I agree. It’s inspirational!

^ yup, and that’s what privilege looks like.

RedtreesRedtrees · 30/08/2020 20:00

I haven’t read the Galbraith books either, but I can’t believe they’re better than the literary heights she achieved with HP.
