@ItsLateHumpty

They'd rather say the threads are repetitive...

Repetitively Grin

Grin

And wonder why I keep repeating myself when they ignore the question!

BernardBlackMissesLangCleg · 31/08/2020 00:20

I’m not irrational

i feel pretty irrational after trying her gingerbread stuffing. It was v bad

my sticky paged copy of Kitchen is easily my favourite recipe book in an extensive collection though. I'll forgive her anything for bringing strawberry and almond crumble into my life

TorkTorkBam · 31/08/2020 00:23

I too would love to know what made Red think gender identity was a reasonable thing around which to reorganise sex-based societal arrangements, you know back when red was in favour of that kind of thing.

PheasantPlucker1 · 31/08/2020 00:24

Ive just checked and Mumsnet has 7million unique users every month.

Not all will visit FWR but still, thats a huge amount of lurkers Grin

TorkTorkBam · 31/08/2020 00:27

I am not boycotting Nigella. I don't believe in cancel culture.

Nigella is a good cook. I am quite happy to take cooking advice from her.

Her political opinions don't affect whether I can follow her recipes and turn out a lovely dinner.

Quaagars · 31/08/2020 00:27

Yup, and lots of people lurk and don't agree with the majority that do post but don't feel up to posting themselves and going against the grain comments wise.
All there though Grin
So yes lots of lurkers

TorkTorkBam · 31/08/2020 00:28

For the avoidance of doubt. I do believe cancel culture exists. I will not engage in supporting cancel culture myself because I believe it to be damaging to societt.

yourhairiswinterfire · 31/08/2020 00:28

The gender ideology movement is so weird. It does nothing at all to try and help trans people. Not one thing.

Think back to a few years and we'd never hear a transgender person, or transsexual as some prefer, trying to bully everyone in to believing something that is untrue. They've never behaved in the appalling way.

Why is this current movement so hell bent on destroying the reputation of genuine trans people with their behaviour under the trans name? If only they put this much energy in to actually trying to help the trans community, they'd have moved mountains by now.

But they seem too busy bullying and gaslighting women. I just don't understand how they think this is ever going to be a winning formula?

crunchermuncher · 31/08/2020 00:29

I was really hoping there might finally be some answers to the questions posed by GC women on here....alas, whataboutery and defensiveness without any actual argument of any substance.

I just can't understand the basic logic fail of:

  • Trans women are women
  • a woman is anyone who says they are
  • Trans women (ie anyone) must be allowed into women only spaces so they will be safe.

How is this safe for trans women if the men they are so afraid of can follow them in? (Because a women is anyone who says they are, right? ).

Leaving aside the many other issues with this argument (Erosion of women as a class, exclusion of vulnerable women from public life, etc) it straight up makes no sense as a solution.

That's leaving aside

Still, I live in hope.

PheasantPlucker1 · 31/08/2020 00:30

Quaagers of course not everyone will agree women should be allowed spaces or privacy or even the right to vote.

But most will.

Quaagars · 31/08/2020 00:31

I am not boycotting Nigella. I don't believe in cancel culture

I am not boycotting JK either. I don't believe in cancel culture.
What's your point?
Separate the art from the artist.
Otherwise there'd be hardly any books, music, films, etc left to enjoy.

crunchermuncher · 31/08/2020 00:31

Oops, delete fail, hopefully you get the gist.

crunchermuncher · 31/08/2020 00:32

Christ some people on here are being obtuse.

ItsLateHumpty · 31/08/2020 00:34

Christ some people on here are being obtuse.

Or just can’t see beyond of their own nose. Because of course it’s all about the Me.

Quaagars · 31/08/2020 00:34

Christ some people on here are being obtuse

Christ, some people on here are just saying their opinion and doesn't give a shit if the majority of commenters agree or not.

ItsLateHumpty · 31/08/2020 00:35

Random ‘of’ there, but it’s free so 🤷🏼‍♀️

crunchermuncher · 31/08/2020 00:36

BUT YOU HAVEN'T SAID WHAT YOUR OPINION ACTUALLY IS!

There are people here who are actively wanting to hear it.

PheasantPlucker1 · 31/08/2020 00:36

Quaggers as were in feminst chat did you form an opinion on womens rights yet, or are you still just posting about how you and the male borns are ok?

TorkTorkBam · 31/08/2020 00:37

@Quaagars

I am not boycotting Nigella. I don't believe in cancel culture

I wasn't responding to you! I was responding to the implication by others that Nigella should be boycotted.

Glad to see we share the same opinion on cancel culture.

IMO open debate of difficult issues is necessary for a functioning democracy.

ItsLateHumpty · 31/08/2020 00:38

Quaagars as you’ve only cherry picked one sentence of mine to quote and respond to, I’m going to assume you agree with everything else, and have no reasonable response to my question. Thanks for the useful info.

When people tell you who they are, etc.

Quaagars · 31/08/2020 00:39

BUT YOU HAVEN'T SAID WHAT YOUR OPINION ACTUALLY IS

Yeah, actually did though, try reading back through the thread IF THAT'S OKAY WITH YOU, I MEAN IT'S ALL THERE

Quaagars · 31/08/2020 00:40

DON'T KNOW WHY THAT'S ALL BOLDED BUT YES I SAID MY OPINION AND APPARENTLY WE'RE SHOUTING SO I DID TOO
I'VE SAID WHAT I THINK

Quaagars · 31/08/2020 00:41

When people tell you who they are, etc

Whatevs
Yeah
I see you

PheasantPlucker1 · 31/08/2020 00:42

My Nigella boycott is due to my hatred of cooking, not her opinions.
Theres nothing anyone could say that would make me suffer through watching someone cook food I cant even eat Grin

Cancel culture is ridiculous though. We need people to discuss matters and air differing views without fear of losing jobs or income.

TorkTorkBam · 31/08/2020 00:43

quagg I would like to know more about how you would operate a policy of judging every male individually rather than as a class, as you suggested up thread. I don't quite see how this could work. How do you envisage it working?
