Wearing a bra

charlotte2129 · 10/08/2020 14:43

Since having the implant put in my boobs have hurt like CRAZY!!! I'm waiting to hear back from the doctors as all contraceptives do this to me. But wearing a bra hurts so much and is really uncomfortable.

Not wearing a bra is so much more comfortable for me at the minute but I'm worried to leave the house without one on. If I saw another person not wearing a bra it wouldn't bother me in the slightest.. but I know other people aren't so accepting and are judgmental on the topic.

What are people's experiences leaving the house without a bra? Have you been judged and what do you all think?? Sorry if this seems like a ridiculous question, I just need some girly advice lol. Please no hate!!Smile

I haven't worn a bra for about 30 years. Hate the fuckers. I have been judged - but I frankly don't care. I do wear vests though.

merrymouse · 10/08/2020 14:49

Honestly, I think you would be better off posting this in style and beauty.

On the feminism board you are more likely to get an analysis of whether you should feel judged for not wearing a bra, which is an interesting conversation, but perhaps not what you are looking for.

Dont you have a plaster or bandage around the implant site till its healed?

TinselAngel · 10/08/2020 14:52

"Tell me about your jiggling boobs" Hmm

LillianBland · 10/08/2020 14:56

Wear a vest under your clothes. I’ve no idea why you would want to hear about other women’s experiences of not wearing a bra! That sounds very creepy and there are no girls on Mumsnet, just women.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 10/08/2020 14:56

Contraceptive implant... not fake boobs.

I'd imagine the OP doesn't want fake boobs to be excluded from this conversation about boob jiggling though.

I’ve stopped wearing them I have trouble putting them on this heatwave I sweat, best thing I’ve done.

Morgana7 · 10/08/2020 14:59

I haven’t worn one for years unless I was doing some very strenuous exercise or if a top was at all see through.
I’m not very large chested so it’s probably not too noticeable to others but I couldn’t care less anyway.

spiritedawai · 10/08/2020 15:00

Wish I could get away with not wearing a bra. I used to be able to. Then breastfeeding happened. Now I am obsessive over ensuring they look like they're the same size.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 10/08/2020 15:03

The OP didn't mention jiggling. The OP mentioned pain. As a fellow sufferer (or, at least in my pre-meno days I was), I get this.

Maybe the OP is a plant, so to speak. But don't forget that some of us do experience problems with sore breasts and/or want to flaunt gender roles or expectations of femininity by not wearing bras.

BaronEssoStation · 10/08/2020 15:09

I just need some girly advice lol.

Try you hardest at all times to be like a girl. lol.

SonjaMorgan · 10/08/2020 15:09

I tend to wear those sports bra/cropped workout tops. They are comfy and last better than bras. I haven't worn a bra with underwire for at least 5 years.

I would happily not wear a bra at all but I think it would be seen as unprofessional.

'girly advice' on a feminism board Hmm
I'm new to this site so wasn't sure what board to post on.. sorry:) x

Panache ultimate sports bra!

Much as I would like not to bother I have to wear a bra and this is the most comfortable one I have ever found. You may find a different one is more your thing, but do have a look at sports bras!

And yes, chase up the GP about the implant. Mone has been fine but I know that is not always the case.

LaBurraRioja · 10/08/2020 15:14

@charlotte2129 If you go to your original post and report it, ask it to be moved to somewhere more appropriate, you might get more helpful advice.

The Feminist boards are a bit 'red in tooth and claw' for any kind of 'girly chat'.

I've already reported it for you but they do like you to do it yourself!

YetAnotherSpartacus · 10/08/2020 15:17

OP - some posters think that you are a male to female trans person, or fantasising about being one. I've seen that you have other posts so I am not assuming this. But that explains the comments re jiggling and breast scars and so on.

stumbledin · 10/08/2020 15:18

@charlotte2129 - dont let one poster's opinion put you off!

There have been a number of threads on bras on this forum.

And dont think style and whatever it was is in any way relevant.

It is exactly because of style bibles and other such rubbish that women have been wearing instruments of torture for years.

And whether it was "girly" advice or not I got some really good info from previous threads.

If you mean me... I did respond with some ideas. I was just trying to help OP find a space away from the immediate distrust, as explained by Spartacus
