Lush Edinburgh say they wouldn't serve anyone in "woman" T-shirt

Apparently some stickers found their way onto the Lush Edinburgh storefront causing horror and consternation on Princes St this morning. They are too awful to be shared, obviously, but clearly they carried some message of hateful bigotry - or biological fact as it used to be known.

Anyway, staff on the thread are letting it be known that anyone wearing a T-shirt carrying the dictionary definition of a woman would not be served - haven't seen a comment on what would happen if it said 'I ❤️ JKR'. Not sure how legal that is.

For similar bath bombs I use Bomb Cosmetics - they can also be found in small gift or card shops/garden centres and significantly cheaper too...

SophocIestheFox · 04/08/2020 10:00

Thanks, stillnot, I will take a look at moogoo Smile

clairethewitch70 · 04/08/2020 10:01

Does anyone know of a substitute for lush henna rouge? Then I can avoid the place. Cosmetics to Go was one of the highlights of the 80’s. So sad it came to this.

Surely it is illegal to refuse to serve a customer just because of a T-shirt or bag??
And JKR rocks. We have a T-shirt press in work. Any suggestions for what to put on it if I have to trek there for my henna?

SerenityNowwwww · 04/08/2020 10:01

It was the keep prisons single sex one. Oh, the humanity!!!

ErrolTheDragon · 04/08/2020 10:07

Maybe someone should put up a sticker saying "Lush thinks mixed-sex prisons are a good idea"?

Smallsteps88 · 04/08/2020 10:13

I really want to test how far they’ll go with policing the language of women.

Lush won’t serve me in a woman - noun- AHF T-shirt.

Would they serve me in a t-shirt that just says female or woman?

The I 💖 JKR poster was removed from the rail station. Would one simply saying JKR be removed?

fatblackcatspaw · 04/08/2020 10:20

Skyliner001 its from the Lush Edinburgh thread on the transphobic stickers at their facebuik page www.facebook.com/LushSpaEdinburgh/posts/3431297510241017?comment_id=3432540890116679&reply_comment_id=1401618316697247&notif_id=1596510519864040&notif_t=feed_comment_reply&ref=notif

Alicethroughtheblackmirror · 04/08/2020 10:20

So if that was the sticker that has caused all this trauma, are we to assume Lush believes prisons should be mixed sex?

Probably worth a question to HQ! Along with a suggestion they listen to Rhona Hotchkiss!

@Alicethroughtheblackmirror I would love to see a discussion between Lush HQ and Rhona 😂

TheGoodEnoughWife · 04/08/2020 10:25

What the actual is going on Lush?!

I was going to Lush this Saturday for their silky underwear not talcum powder powder but seeing as I identify as an Adult Human Female who believes humans cannot change biological sex then clearly I would be unwelcome. Does anyone know of a replacement powder?

Although I do have the t-shirt...

NewNewt · 04/08/2020 10:27

Just read the comments on that facebook post, utterly hilarious.

I mean fairplay to LUSH, they are actually prepared to hasten their demise from the high street post recession. What a shame its such an unfortunate position. How can you be anti-sexism and pro-twaw? Impossible. Literal bollox.

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 04/08/2020 10:33

Can’t wait till they tank

Yes

It does seem a weird stance to take in the middle of a global pandemic which is causing worldwide financial issues, alienating parts of your customer base

SerenityNowwwww · 04/08/2020 10:35

Well their Facebook post is going down well. I think they had decided not to ‘do’ twitter any more a few weeks ago. Too traumatic for the person running it I suppose.

EggsScrambled · 04/08/2020 10:39

I've started boycotting Lush, only in a last couple of months though. Used to really like their bubble bars as well, which is annoying, but I am happily using alternatives now.

highame · 04/08/2020 10:41

I'm really proud - preens feathers. I looked at the Lush Edinburgh page last night and saw there were lots of 'isn't lush lovely', so I thought, well bugger that and put in the first anti-lush stance. I am Eileen Higham, and I don't give a shit who knows. I got likes

I would like to now tell you about The Daily Uterus Award Stars for anyone boldly going where no one has gone before. Be the first GC post on a list of wokie posts

SerenityNowwwww · 04/08/2020 10:42

I’ve not used them since the ogre picture on social media promoting them and the campaign that came out as anti police (I get the idea behind it but it came out very anti police) plus the nonsense they were putting into mail order packs on the US - protrans literature - they well bloody soap!!!!!

Soubriquet · 04/08/2020 10:50

They believe trans women are women and they are our sisters

So therefore they should be in a woman’s prison cos they are women

Jaxhog · 04/08/2020 10:50

I've stopped shopping at Lush because of their 'woke' attitude. A real shame, because I love their bath bombs.

Alicethroughtheblackmirror · 04/08/2020 10:58

Presumably Lush think this person should be in a female prison. Rhona has said that in event of self ID, they wouldn't be able to prevent transfer of people like this.

Scott demanded that only female prison staff do strip searches and is considered Scotland's most dangerous prisoner. Would love to hear Lush make a case for Tiffany being locked up with vulnerable women!

Oh dear. It seems none of you old fuddy duddies understand and you really need to get educated, like the folks at LUSH, before you kill everybody.

Everyone knows you don't need customers to make money from your business. Little gold coins just appear above your head and vanish into your pocket.

I know. I've played The Sims religiously for years.

Jaxhog · 04/08/2020 10:59

Thanks @Sereniela Bomb Cosmetics looks great. Cheaper too!

MissEliza · 04/08/2020 11:02

Genuine question- can anyone suggest a substitute for Ultrabalm?! It's the only thing that doesn't make my skin react but I can't bear to give Lush another penny of my money after reading the Op.

BaronEssoStation · 04/08/2020 11:04

.. I’ve not used them since the ogre picture on social media promoting them and the campaign that came out as anti police..

I can't find anything online about either of those two things.

Anyone?

SerenityNowwwww · 04/08/2020 11:08

I don’t know how to do a twitter link - It’s all on there (I’d also forgotten they did a product for charity and had Aimee C pictured in a staff T-shirt in a store for some reason).

EyesOpening · 04/08/2020 11:09

@Pillypocket666

Can someone come up with a one liner that we can all post? repeatedly?
I keep thinking of The Lego Movie where they robotically say "Everything Is Awesome" and think of them saying "everything is transphobic" so maybe a little GIF with it? (but copyright, so?)
