Lush Edinburgh say they wouldn't serve anyone in "woman" T-shirt

Apparently some stickers found their way onto the Lush Edinburgh storefront causing horror and consternation on Princes St this morning. They are too awful to be shared, obviously, but clearly they carried some message of hateful bigotry - or biological fact as it used to be known.

Anyway, staff on the thread are letting it be known that anyone wearing a T-shirt carrying the dictionary definition of a woman would not be served - haven't seen a comment on what would happen if it said 'I ❤️ JKR'. Not sure how legal that is.

It almost seems a shame that I don't like their horrible smelly shite (I have to cross the street because the pong makes me wheeze) 'cos it means I can't boycott them.

Bit rich them saying they won't tolerate sexism given their track record as employers.

It is a migraine inducing nightmare of a shop. I've hatred them since the 'nude woman in the window' debacle.

The phrase “educate yourself” is rapidly becoming one of the nastiest in the English language. Putting “love and respect” after it does not mitigate its authoritarian arrogance either - it makes it worse. Who do they think they are to tell their customers to go educate themselves?!

It'd be tempting to ask them which definition of woman they're using and which definition of sexism they're standing against as they don't accept the dictionary definition of women or the legal definition of sexism which is based on women being a biological entity. How are they standing against things they refuse to define ?

If only I still bought their products I could boycott them...

I've boycotted them for nearly three years because of their stance on gender identity.

Our nearest one is a 25 mile round trip away...since the lifting of lockdown I have never been so tempted to make the trip...wearing an I ❤ JKR t-shirt

Given I take detours to avoid passing their shop because of the smell...

Luckily for them, I'd rather spend my money in shops that don't give me headaches.

Isn't it illegal to refuse to serve someone / offer a service because you don't like their race / sex / clothing / political viewpoints etc?

Just thought of a better idea ..Rock up wearing a face mask with 'woman' definition or I ❤ JKR on and see what they do with that!

Don't think they've thought this through. Shops boycotting customers is not a great business model. Do like some of the fragrance, can get it online, so what if you can't go in the shop, can still get the products. Just a big ole pointless virtue signal yawns

I may go to the Cheltenham shop... see what they say about my new Tshirt - which I will have to print / sew up for the trip!
