Lush Edinburgh say they wouldn't serve anyone in "woman" T-shirt

Apparently some stickers found their way onto the Lush Edinburgh storefront causing horror and consternation on Princes St this morning. They are too awful to be shared, obviously, but clearly they carried some message of hateful bigotry - or biological fact as it used to be known.

Anyway, staff on the thread are letting it be known that anyone wearing a T-shirt carrying the dictionary definition of a woman would not be served - haven't seen a comment on what would happen if it said 'I ❤️ JKR'. Not sure how legal that is.

Does anyone not hate the product above to go into a shop, get served lots of scoops and slices, get it all packaged up and then remove their ??anorak?? At the till revealing their T-shirt?
Bonus points for wearing a beard.

OneEpisode · 03/08/2020 20:43

Curious I didn’t see your post, you just need an outer layer as a disguise whilst the stock is rendered more perishable, then reveal the T-shirt and see if they will refund your money, or risk junking the product...

2bazookas · 03/08/2020 20:43

I hate the way that sickly stink of products spreads out of the door to the pavement.

Eau de Misogyny. Peed by real dicks.

Portnlemon · 03/08/2020 20:44

That is actually quite funny. Customers? No we don't want customers.

WeeBisom · 03/08/2020 20:45

They should just ban women to be on the safe side. We are , after all, the embodiment of the 'transphobic' dictionary definition and the sight of women might be triggering to some. I did burst out laughing when I clicked on the page and saw a massive banner saying 'all are welcome'. Um, obviously not!

thehumanformerlyknownasfemale · 03/08/2020 20:46

Educate yourselves 🙄 Has a stroppy 14 year old been at their FB account?

And why are so called professionals equating I ❤ JKR with transphobia now? Are they asking to be sued, being as no one can actually point out the transphobia in the comments she made? It's all just what they think she meant, i.e imagined bollocks.

I can't wait for the wheels to fall off this toxic movement. There are going to be so many people and organisations left looking like absolute bellends, and it's going to be glorious. We're certainly not going to forget the ones who threw women under the bus for a few brownie points.

Deliriumoftheendless · 03/08/2020 20:47

A lot of their stuff is easy to make at home and it works out cheaper if you use it regular. Buy from local soap companies and make your own.

Mammatino · 03/08/2020 20:52

Silly bollox!

OneEpisode · 03/08/2020 20:54

It looks like it’s Edinburgh that is especially sexist, though you can’t enter if sexist either.

They are proud that they don’t price haircuts by gender but in three hair length bands

  1. below chin
  2. above chin
  3. barber.

It doesn’t define “Barber.” Nor if they mean my original chin or my sagging with age chin..,

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 03/08/2020 20:56

Was it lush who had a young woman being tortured in the window?

Absolute bunch of basket cases. Steer well clear.

CasuallyMasculine · 03/08/2020 20:57

Don't think they've thought this through. Shops boycotting customers is not a great business model.

BaronessWrongCrowd · 03/08/2020 20:58

Who the actual hell do Lush UK think they are?

The Vile misogynists cannot see how intolerant they are. I hope they go bust.

blurpityblurp · 03/08/2020 21:02

They have a history of forcing women female vagina-having staff into sexually abusive work situations.

@CuriousaboutSamphire I may see you there Wink

Korimiko · 03/08/2020 21:04

Lush gives you thrush

Alicethroughtheblackmirror · 03/08/2020 21:07

Blurpity that's horrible! And they have the nerve to say that sexism is tolerated!

blurpity - thanks for that link. That was the incident I was thinking of when I commented upthread.

Korimio "Lush gives you thrush" - that is sheer genius.

BettyFilous · 03/08/2020 21:12

Lush = thrush

Apollo440 · 03/08/2020 21:13

So my gender critical wheelchair bound friend rocks up in an adult human female tshirt they'd refuse to serve her. It's almost worth the trip.

CallarMorvern · 03/08/2020 21:15

Ah, I love Lush in Liverpool. At least that means I can actually boycott it, unlike you lot who are already Lush averseGrin

Thisismytimetoshine · 03/08/2020 21:15

I can't think how many male customers want their sparkly shite, so as a marketing strategy it's fundamentally flawed.

Alicethroughtheblackmirror · 03/08/2020 21:16

I see that the Green Party's (or ex GP?) Richard Firth is offering solidarity. If they are serious about sexism, shouldn't they ban him?

Any recommendations for a good shampoo bar from another supplier? I'm happy to have an excuse to avoid Lush anyway.

Sexnotgender · 03/08/2020 21:17

Arseholes.

tobee · 03/08/2020 21:17

When, some months ago, I looked up who the CEO of Lush was, and I saw his photo, it all made sense.
