Lush Edinburgh say they wouldn't serve anyone in "woman" T-shirt

Apparently some stickers found their way onto the Lush Edinburgh storefront causing horror and consternation on Princes St this morning. They are too awful to be shared, obviously, but clearly they carried some message of hateful bigotry - or biological fact as it used to be known.

Anyway, staff on the thread are letting it be known that anyone wearing a T-shirt carrying the dictionary definition of a woman would not be served - haven't seen a comment on what would happen if it said 'I ❤️ JKR'. Not sure how legal that is.

Rhona Hotchkiss has reached out to the poor traumatised souls at Lush. Now if only they would listen.

What I find really interesting about Rhona Hotchkiss's comment is the way she said 'the damage that was done to women'

This seems to suggest that we only hear the headlines when something really bad happens and that there must be a lot of other stuff goes on that doesn't make the headlines....even more worrying

Lordamighty. I literally just commented on that post. My comments were deleted immediately and I have been made unable to comment on the LUSH UK Edinburgh page at all. Within seconds.

All I did was link to the stories if karen white. The man who sexually assaulted females once he got transferred to a female prison.

I have ordered a t shirt which apparently will get me kicked out of Lush (Harrogate) next time I go.
I shop in lush. A lot. Regularly. (Not anymore)

I would get at least 4 bath bombs (think pink are my fav, I'd often get an intergalactic) and a rainbow soap bar every couple of weeks. The sugar lip scrub, and a gorgeous rose bud soap bar too. The fig and leaves soap I adore.

My custom is not going to them anymore. P.s The Yorkshire Soap company does do really nice stuff. I have the goodnight sweetheart perfume.

in terms of alternatives to Lush this is more serious creams etc but the camomile cream is a lifesaver on my itch prone skin napiers.net/ woman owned

highame one of the big concerns is the psychological impact. Many of the women in prisons (in fact most, I believe) are victims of male violence, including DV and sexual violence. For these women, a male sharing their accommodation doesn't even need to do anything bad for their presence to be upsetting, even traumatising. More so if bathroom facilities are shared. Then there are potential low-level behaviours such as staring at women's bodies, making sexual comments etc which wouldn't necessarily be reported and might be very hard to prove. Add in the gaslighting effect of being made to pretend this person is a woman, and it's a recipe for wrecking women's mental health I'd imagine.

Lush lost me as a customer a while back over the police debacle. Not for me thanks.

I forgot who was asking about shampoo bars above but Ethique do very good shampoo and conditioner bars, the pink one smells amazing! I'm still searching for a really good 2-in-1 shampoo/conditioner bar though 😟 Any recommendations welcome!

I also agree Yorkshire soap co are very good, their Hedgerow bar smells incredible! It's quite expensive but seems to last forever, so I don't mind. (Some of the Lush ones, back when I still used them, seemed to melt away in a matter of days!).

I never go in lush anymore. Everyone who works in my local one act like they're on speed. Awful company.

I can't access the fb article now, or the likes and comments I got when I commented this morning. Same thing happened when I had a similar chat on Sali Hughes fb group.

Although the Lush Facebook post seems to have disappeared, the (incredibly one-sided) article by Edinburgh Live is still available on their Facebook page for comment.

Lush can fuck off along with The Body Shop! They have proved beyond any doubt that they are idiots.
I have asked my male cousin and his partner to please buy two shirts ( do they come in large sizes to fit two 6 ft rugby player types?) and wear them to the Edinburgh shop on Princes Street, let’s see how the staff deal with two large GC gay men!
