has had to lock down her Twitter account after being inundated with hate for saying women have cervix’s

The TRA are now spamming labour with complaints about her transphobia & demands she is sacked

I’m planning to email my support fir her copying in Keir Starmer

(And yes of course LOJ is involved!)

@MummBraTheEverLeaking

JKR has just tweeted in support of Rosie Smile
That's great. As pointless Starmer is too scared to stand up for women, democracy or safeguarding it's great that JKR will step up. What a star. Flowers

God the chair of Labour LGBTQ )witch hunting a speciality) is a mental health specialist in the nhs 😦 imagine working on mental health & yet being so casually keen to inflict such horrendous abuse and stress on someone for liking a tweet you don’t happen to agree with

That's a reallynpoor article and misrepresents the tweet she liked.

Igneococcus · 28/07/2021 07:52

In the Times the comments are often more useful than the article, once they actually appear.

FloralBunting · 28/07/2021 08:41

Imagine being a mental health specialist and thinking an LGB person who doesn't want to be called the Qslur should have no right to dispute it.

teawamutu · 28/07/2021 08:41

I'm going to send Rosie D a message of support this morning, cc'd to Labour HQ.

Is the investigation a chance to get Starmer off the fence finally?

Floisme · 28/07/2021 08:50

I've been trying to follow this but that Times article is the first time I've seen an investigation mentioned - is that happening?

ColourMagic · 28/07/2021 09:07

@Igneococcus

If they actually appear. The Times moderation of Comments is at best chaotic, with Commenters struggling to work out for what part of their post their Comment has been censored.

It is alarming to be faced with a red warning after trying to post a Comment, asking if I really want to post that Comment, but no indication of what the Times moderation system considers wrong with the Comment.
In one comment that I was warned about by the Mod system, I wondered if the problem (perceived by the Times Mod system) was a single word (the word 'honeypot'). I replaced the word honeypot with the phrase 'bottomless pot of gold' (with reference to research funding) - the Comment went straight through onto the page, no problem.

The Times is losing subscribers because they say they are fed up with their Comments perpetually being disappeared.

Agree. The tweet was about use of the word ‘queer’, which indisputably does now include many people who are both heterosexual and gender conforming.

Clymene · 28/07/2021 09:08

I have commented but it's not been approved as it was critical of the article.

Clymene · 28/07/2021 09:09

The article uses the term trans several times, implying that the tweet also referred to trans people. It didn't.

Witchesbelazy · 28/07/2021 09:10

If she loses her job over this it will be the end of voting for labour for me. Really difficult as I’ve always voted labour but I can’t support them if she suffers from this.

ScreamingMeMe · 28/07/2021 09:13

Same.

I’d like them to address the issues highlighted in the tweet - that many gay people feel that their concerns are being railroaded by an ideology that refuses to recognise same sex attraction.
HereticFanjo · 28/07/2021 09:27

Where do we write to Keir Starmer? I've had enough of this now and should have had enough of it long ago. These people are terrorists - as extreme as any camo clad American militia guy spouting off hate.

It is time for Splinter-Arse Starmer to get off the fence, along with the whole political class. Helen Joyce talked eloquently about the need for a united stance by politicians on this. I don't even care anymore if it's the tories.

Mrsorganmorgan · 28/07/2021 09:31

I have had many comments rejected by the Times. I made one about Lisa Nandy and what she said. It was rejected. I actually saw her say it!

Ereshkigalangcleg · 28/07/2021 10:04

That article misinterprets the wording of the tweet when he refers to "queer". Why didn't they publish a screenshot of it?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 28/07/2021 10:04

Also it doesn't specifically mention trans people.

hellandhairnets · 28/07/2021 10:07

It is time for Splinter-Arse Starmer to get off the fence, along with the whole political class.

I think he has already picked the side of the fence he's on, given that he made a video recently committing Labour to Self ID, and Rosie Duffield tweeted at one point that he hadn't contacted her privately at all in the face of the misogynistic bullying campaign against her.

He also hasn't responded, as far as I'm aware, to anybody contacting him directly about this issue. Numerous women have been refused entry to the Labour party on the grounds of being GC (including Karen Ingala Smith when she attempted to rejoin) And Labour are now 'investigating' Rosie Duffield's tweets.

He has picked a side, I'm afraid. It's not ours.

AlfonsoTheMango · 28/07/2021 10:08

What is happening to Ms Duffield is appalling. I will be emailing her, copying Starmer and my (useless) MP in, telling that I support her.

KohlaParasanda · 28/07/2021 10:17

@Witchesbelazy

I feel the same. I've always voted Labour, but if the Labour party is actively excluding GC women it is actively excluding me too. If there was an election tomorrow, I don't think there's any party I could vote for. I feel a bit sick.
merrymouse · 28/07/2021 10:24

I think he has already picked the side of the fence he's on

I don't think it's so much that he has picked a side as that he thinks the issue doesn't matter to the electorate and it's a sop to throw to the OJ wing of the party.

This is of course short sighted because if he ever does become PM, he would have to create legislation which would either completely undermine equalities and human rights legislation (Anyone is who they say they are, so no more protected characteristics, comparators, weighing up of competing rights etc.) or lead him to be branded as a traitor.

justaftb · 28/07/2021 10:25

I emailed my MP who is Labour and cc’d Rosie and Keir Starmer. I urge everyone to do so if they have not already. I expressed my support for her, disgust at lack of support from Labour MPs, and ask for confirmation from my MP for her and Labour’s position on a number of issues including protecting single-sex spaces and whether Labour actually is a safe place for women.
