has had to lock down her Twitter account after being inundated with hate for saying women have cervix’s

The TRA are now spamming labour with complaints about her transphobia & demands she is sacked

I’m planning to email my support fir her copying in Keir Starmer

(And yes of course LOJ is involved!)

@nauticant

Had a look at Owen Jones' contribution. If I've got the right tweet, it's a "nudge-nudge, there's this woman who I'm not naming (although you can easily identify her) who said a bad thing". That's one of the Squealer-ist interventions I've seen from him.
He knows she is a domestic abuse survivor. He knows that she will be sent death and rape threats and he knows he will be curtsied for it. He wants it to be deniable. But we see you.

All the abusive men who hide behind trans rights (but don’t do anything actually constructive to help trans people) we see you.

No one is campaigning for transwomen to be included in prostate screening campaigns and we all know why.

I am off to email Kier Starmer (once again) and I am going to send Rosie Duffield a nice card.

CeciledeVolanges Great post

Ugh, Little OJ. Out come the fake stats and then he accuses women who have been victims of DV of pretending to be victims. Disgusting little man.

"Pretend they're courageous victims"?? What an absolute prick.

Kit19 · 01/08/2020 17:47

Totally agree cecille

The sheer unadulterated happiness of having a new witch to burn alongside the sanctimonious lecturing of women disagreeing with them makes me sick

CeciledeVolanges Great post

Agreed.

testing987654321 · 01/08/2020 17:50

Do read the link nauticant put up, I think biological reality is starting to shine through.

Melroses · 01/08/2020 17:59

I was just laughing at Gary Lineker's tweet about bringing all his friends with him to the FA Cup final, and wondering why he never got all this flack - or maybe not Smile

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 01/08/2020 18:03

@nauticant

Looking at this tweet from one of the witch-finders:

twitter.com/CaoimheHaleLab/status/1289521361728176128

and then looking at the responses, I'm not sure that the TRAs have the momentum (DYSWIDT?) that they were taking for granted a year ago.

By the way, did anyone else read that name at HateLab?

Interesting that in that thread someone says that trans men have an artificial cervix.

Just shows that the general public often thinks (quite sensibly) that trans men are men who identify as women, and that trans women are women that identity as men. I suspect that is why so many women are supportive of trans women using women's spaces.

Datun · 01/08/2020 18:04

@CeciledeVolanges

I have lurked silently here for quite a while, but this is really upsetting and I finally want to join this conversation.

Rosie Duffield is a survivor of domestic abuse and got emotional abuse added to the definition in the Domestic Abuse Bill (which I’m also working on behind the scenes). Her speech was really brave and upsetting to hear. I can’t really articulate my thoughts right now but she has been through the same thing I have - real violence with words over a sustained period of time, which slowly erodes your sense of self, reality and truth. Seeing people allege that trans people are going to be harmed, that Rosie Duffield is attacking people, or that people are being damaged just by the statement “only women have cervices” is upsetting me more than I can say, and I don’t really know why, except that it’s like a continuation of abuse and gaslighting by the very people who are claiming to be hurt. If trans men wink out of existence as a result of the statement of a simple biological fact, god knows what any kind of actual abuse or hatred would do.

No other point of view is treated like that. People are allowed to argue for and against abortion and around racism, antisemitism, all sorts of things - nobody promised to fire Christopher Chope into space or called him a dumb b*tch for thwarting the upskirting legislation, both of which I’ve seen about Rosie Duffield. It terrifies me.

One final thing - as a result of growing up around DV and with EA I have had an eating disorder for a long while. It’s mostly at bay now but I feel constantly like I’m wearing a fat suit, I want to rip my skin off, I’m hideous, I take up too much space and so on. It’s dreadful, and relentless, and my body feels very wrong. I’ve never got to the top of an NHS waiting list, by the way. And it is difficult to deal with people who comment negatively on my weight, or people lauding weight loss generally, or anything “triggering” but I can and do deal with them. But I can’t imagine what it would be like to have it validated that I am in the wrong body, or to decide to ban anyone from saying I’m anything but skeletal, I just can’t imagine that ever happening. And the reason I overreact to comments about my weight is BECAUSE I’m ill, because there is something wrong in my brain.

Sorry that was long, and thanks everyone here who has had to be brave and speak out, or endure abuse about this.

You have my sympathy and support. And thank you for articulating your feelings about this so well.

I can't help thinking the shark is getting well and truly jumped here, though.

Anyone, with an ounce of decency, can see the abuse happening.

The more people who realise that they will be called transphobic for stating biological reality, the better, in my opinion.

The rank misogyny behind it is obvious to anyone with eyes and ears. And it's interesting that there is a perception that Rosie knew exactly what she was saying.

More and more women are saying it.

Dw777 · 01/08/2020 18:05

Which party is the lady an MP for?

Portnlemon · 01/08/2020 18:06

Honestly, the people running complaints departments for political parties must be sick of the never ending barrage of transphobia accusations.

Any patience with this must be long gone, it's time wasting and stupid. It's like listening to insanity on steroids.

They won't stop until everyone simply blanks them.

Unbelievable.

CeciledeVolanges · 01/08/2020 18:07

Thank you @Collidascope @testing987654321 and @Kit19

Off to read nauticant’s post now.

Iamhangingin · 01/08/2020 18:10

CeciledeVolanges

I can relate and agree with everything in your post. I nearly 40 now and still struggle with my eating disorder (which has got so much worse with covid lock down and now the obesity drive). Appart from brief in house treatment at an eating disorders clinic in my teens I have had no help from the NHS. I can't understand how the world is how it is right now?

And it's shocking that female MP's have to put up with this misogynistic crap in 2020!!! Why?!

ThePurported · 01/08/2020 18:10

Do read the link nauticant put up, I think biological reality is starting to shine through.

Yes, good to see that a lot of people have had enough, or the penny is just starting to drop.

But shits like LOJ seem to be everywhere, and there's a new generation of them coming into politics. That terrifies me.

Welcome Cecile

Violetparis · 01/08/2020 18:11

Rosie Duffield is a Labour MP. Have any other Labour MPs showed any support for her ?

Lottapianos · 01/08/2020 18:11

'Can you imagine Starmer having to get off the fence about this one? He won't of course. It will all be "very sensitive and difficult" and he'll talk about being kind and respectful'

Well bloody SHAME on him if he does. FFS, the women just stated biological fact. Stand up for your people, Starmer, for heaven's sake!

Dw777 · 01/08/2020 18:13

I guess this is the start of what the left wing people always wanted, an end to free speech. People in positions of power and influence (not you) will decide which opinions are and aren’t acceptable and there will be consequences for an opinion that not acceptable to the powers that be. Perhaps this will be a crime in the future? This is the world I though the liberal left always wanted? Anyway I think a twitter mob is just the start. In the future I expect expressing certain opinions will result in long prison sentences.

SheepandCow · 01/08/2020 18:14

Isn't LOJ himself a transphobe? I think he's said he wouldn't have a sexual relationship with a transman. Or am I wrong? I think I read that but might've confused him with someone else.

Homeless people have high rates of suicide. Why aren't they housed. If we're concerned about preventing suicide, they should be.

RoBollox · 01/08/2020 18:14

I honestly think we're very close to a tipping point here. Things are teetering and people are opening their eyes.

NiceGerbil · 01/08/2020 18:15

He was disgusted by the idea of having sex with a person who wasn't wasn't male, the basis was biology not identity for his preference.

Yes transphobic.

MoreListeningLessChatting · 01/08/2020 18:18

She is correct.

Sadly the TRA shout/scream/rage and appear to get their own way. Some also threaten the most awful things to women who suggest only women have cervixes etc etc

Why do other women put up with this I wonder? There are enough women to stand up for the women who merely speak biological fact

GCmiddle · 01/08/2020 18:19

This is interesting (as well as predictable and awful). Rosie Duffield is my MP and i have written to her a few times on GRA issues and asking if she thought I should be expelled from the Labour Party for supporting WPUK. I never received a reply from her, which I took to mean she did not support GC views - maybe I was wrong? Maybe she has held GC views all along, but never wanted to put it in writing...well, that didn't do her much good in the end.
On a broader note, one of the reasons I think TRAs are determined to get people to admit that men do have cervix, is so that later they can claim that men should routinely be allowed to carry out cervical smear tests. After all, why not? If men need smear tests too, who could possibly object to that?

ListeningQuietly · 01/08/2020 18:20

I honestly think we're very close to a tipping point here. Things are teetering and people are opening their eyes.
I agree
the Daily Fail is also covering the deed poll issue about "dead naming"

the biological reality of who people actually are is becoming the key point again

BatShite · 01/08/2020 18:23

Just shows that the general public often thinks (quite sensibly) that trans men are men who identify as women, and that trans women are women that identity as men. I suspect that is why so many women are supportive of trans women using women's spaces.

Yes, this has long been a problem.

With a lot of this stuff, people simply do not know whats being said..maybe as the meanings of words appear to have been changed to mean the opposite without anyone being told this!

Many many people also..think gender is simply a 'polite' way of saying sex. This is where many of the problems have sprung from IMO.

SheepandCow · 01/08/2020 18:23

@NiceGerbil

He was disgusted by the idea of having sex with a person who wasn't wasn't male, the basis was biology not identity for his preference.

Yes transphobic.

So LOJ doesn't view men with cervixes (transmen) as real men...he can hardly throw transphobe accusations around then, seeing as he is in fact a transphobe...
