What’s Liz Truss been doing? She’s my local MP so would be interested to know her views.

I think it is feasible that when Stonewall started lobbying senior level contacts, following the leaks about Liz Truss’ potential announcement, those same contacts pushed back with their own/public concerns about Stonewall behaviour.

So the Liz Truss statement does not happen, with Boris promising something later in the summer. If it turns about that it is an announcement of Stonewall reform, that is good.

Stonewall is a useful organisation that has lost its way. It has had its own sort of capture. The Tories don’t want to destroy it, and accused of being the anti-gay nasty party. But similarly their instincts are GC. A neat solution would be to cut back on Stonewall overreach prior to the various court cases. And then to have a more constructive debate on the need to reform the GRA with proper weight given to the needs of the most vulnerable, whether female or trans.

Well that is my hope...

My guess is that FC have been asked to comment on something a Sunday newspaper will be revealing...

Interestingly, the Volvo L150 is "packed with revolutionary solutions" according to one website I found. Revolutionary solutions sound pretty good to me!

I'm sure there was some anti lobbying act recently, about government funded lobbying of government. Thats all charities eg. disability/age/religion/third world poverty.

I wonder if the government is suddenly realising what a waste of time and money it is for the CPS and every council in the country to start withdrawing all their materials which have been based on Stonewall advice and therefore a misrepresentation of the law.

I think (hope) you are nearest the mark. When the govt carried out its consultation on reform of the GRC, it had thousands and thousands of responses that were identical, copied and pasted from the Stonewall website. That goes well outside Stonewall's remit as a charity.

Secondly, we all know - and the government will have been made aware - that Stonewall has been going into public sector organisations such as the police, NHS trusts, schools etc and lying about the law, as well as providing some extremely dodgy advice.

So what I'm hoping is that in the process of making a decision about whether or not to reform the GRA, the government has decided it really needs to clamp down on Stonewall's activities and is about to take measures to do so, maybe either relating to its charitable status or its funding. I don't know. These are just guesses.
