I passed a truck on the M1 the other day with 'Beef Flaps' printed on that flap at the back which is supposed to reduce spray to following vehicles. I snorted.

PopperUppleton · 28/07/2020 18:23

Datun ha ha Grin

ErrolTheDragon · 28/07/2020 18:33

They think women can have penises & men can have vaginas.

A sentence requiring redefinition of the words 'women', 'men' and 'think'.

It's not as bad as it sounds!

UncleShady · 28/07/2020 18:57

it wasn't all flaps Grin

DianasLasso · 28/07/2020 19:05

Presumably innie and outie flaps are about whether your labia minora protrude beyond your labia majora or not. Not sure what the figures are, but my Bayesian prior would be 50-50.

Apparently some young women are so brainwashed by porn (which currently favours the innie) that they have plastic surgeons lop bits off their flaps, which I find a horrific state of affairs. (NB, for the avoidance of doubt what I find horrific is surgery done purely for appearance - some women need surgery because of function because they suffer pain/repeated infections, and that's an entirely different matter - bit like the difference between male circumcision for cultural reasons versus corrective surgery for phimosis, only obviously much more drastic when it comes to lopping bits off your labia.)

DialSquare · 28/07/2020 19:11

"Presumably innie and outie flaps are about whether your labia minora protrude beyond your labia majora or not. Not sure what the figures are, but my Bayesian prior would be 50-50."

That's pretty much what the internet said. I actually didn't google it as I changed my search engine due to their recent funding. Must train myself to stop saying that!

I feel so sorry for younger women today. That surgery sounds horrendous. The pressure on them is awful.
Me and my flaps come as they are (so to speak).

There used to be a vulva blog for women with visible inner labia as, in Australia, it was illegal for inner labia to be shown on porn. Which meant 50%of women who looked at it thinking they were all wrong and probably all men Sad

Shock

I just disappeared down a youtube rabbit hole of (female) plastic surgeons talking about labiaplasty - WTF? And tragically sad comments below from teens fretting about whether they were normal. Any plastic surgeon prepared to do this for "aesthetic" [sic] reasons is a bloody deranged Dr. Frankenstein.

Melroses · 28/07/2020 19:57

I have also read recently on a menopause blog about someone who had labiaplasty done in her 40s and is now having terrible trouble with the scars due to meno and hormone depletion. A lot of women with genito-urinary symptoms of menopause have trouble with scar areas. It is probably not something that is mentioned during the 'informed consent' or understood if by chance it is mentioned.

Antibles · 28/07/2020 20:12

Hmm, not sure if intact TRAs are not already arguing that they are the ones who have 'outie vulvas'. Or is that outie vaginas? Hmm

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 28/07/2020 20:31

Jesus, leave our bits alone!!!

(I mean, Jesus as in the expletive. I don't think the messiah had much to do with the inny/outy labia debate, even if he was a very naughty boy.)

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 28/07/2020 20:31

Here's the article I read from a women's cycling magazine, they say there's some correlation between hip socket and pubic bone position and soft tissue.

totalwomenscycling.com/fitness/cobb-saddles-ask-innie-outie

I looked at the seats and they were ££££ but it was useful information to store for the next time I'm looking for a saddle anyway.

Antibles · 28/07/2020 20:37

Cosmetic labiaplasty Sad

When I think back to the innocent days (90s) when people were still arguing whether porn might not have real world negative effects for women, mostly focused on whether it might possibly encourage violence a teeny tiny bit...I honestly want to cry. We never even imagined the rest...

Pubic shaving, anal sex, slapping, spitting and hair pulling, labiaplasty, the rough sex murder defence. Men who can't even get it up anymore for a real woman and her real body. And despite men knowing precisely what kind of biological body deserves this treatment, we're now having to even fight for an exclusive name for ourselves and our own sodding bogs so we don't end up on said porn sites when simply going for a wee. What a journey it's been.

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 28/07/2020 20:39

Thanks for the info on bike seats, btw! That is useful, I'm just about to look for a new bike and I want a lovely comfy saddle. I'm thinking something like this.

SpeedofaSloth · 28/07/2020 20:45

If I had a lovely comfy trike like that I might actually use it.

Facefullofcake · 28/07/2020 20:50

I'm an outie and in my forties. Clearly remember hating howi it looked and thinking I wasn't normal when I was about 9 or 10. I'm fairly certain it wasn't exposure to porn that made me feel that way, but I'm
failing to work out where it did come from at that age...

DannyGlickWindowTapping · 28/07/2020 20:58

I don't think I even realised that anyone was that different to me until I saw Embarrassing Bodies. I never really watched porn, so it didn't occur to me that there was such a range of shapes and sizes. Or that mine was not in the "acceptable" range. It made me feel really bad. I looked into what surgery was out there, but thankfully living, paying bills etc.. got in the way.

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 28/07/2020 21:01

I remember a drunken night when a friend whipped out her labia to complain at how wrong they were. I mean, the idea that it was possible to have right or wrong labia was a bit puzzling to me.

Born in the wrong body taken to a very specific level?
gardenbird48 · 28/07/2020 21:07

@ScrimpshawTheSecond - that sounds like a hilariously drunken night if it got to that point!! It took me a long time to work out why horse riding got so uncomfortable after about the age of 12 - I was a bit perplexed and then annoyed but the boys and drinking came along (not when I was 12 obvs) so I switched. Hangovers are less painful than trotting with an outie.

Deliriumoftheendless · 28/07/2020 21:07

I heard that in a Pink Floyd style.
EmpressJKRowlingSpartacus · 28/07/2020 21:09

Jesus was busy unscrewing jar lids last time I looked.

testing987654321 · 28/07/2020 21:10

I hope fair cop realise what they've unleashed here. I left you on Jesus and seals and come back to labiaplasty.

testing987654321 · 28/07/2020 21:12

Well yes, I have no idea what is considered normal as I have nothing to compare with.
