I mean obviously the email wasn’t to me individually Blush

EmpressJKRowlingSpartacus · 27/07/2020 17:20

I got the email too. Love it!!!!

SerenityNowwwww · 27/07/2020 17:32

That’s actually really lovely. Only someone with a heart of black stone could object.

Aesopfable · 27/07/2020 17:38

This thread is so frustrating. Lots of fun little titbits and support for JKR is great but it means I keep having to check to make sure it isn’t fair cop news.

BilboBercow · 27/07/2020 18:06

I've never been the same since I found out about dolphin gang rapes

DialSquare · 27/07/2020 18:20

I've been like this Shock a few times on this thread. I kjeep forgetting about fair cop's original tweet!

TinselAngel · 27/07/2020 18:29

Of other dolphins presumably? Please not another species going for penguins or seals?
ThinkWittyThoughts · 27/07/2020 19:24

I'm loving this thread.

Never heard of British Israelites before but have a strong idea in my mind that the official royal family tree goes back to Odin.

Hang on I will see if I can find a link.

BiologyNotBigotry · 27/07/2020 21:12

Is Joseph of Arimathea the Joseph who lent his tomb to Jesus? If he was related to Mary then that would make sense. "Hey Joe, little favour... My boy's just been crucified & we need somewhere to pop his body. It'll only be for a few days..."

SerenityNowwwww · 27/07/2020 21:14

It was lucky it was a loan. He got it back didn’t he?

DannyGlickWindowTapping · 28/07/2020 08:32

Wasn't he the one that simultaneously started the legend of King Arthur and set up the clues for Indiana Jones (and father)? Busy bloke.

ErrolTheDragon · 28/07/2020 08:43

Yes, and he grew a miraculous thorn tree whilst looking for a site for a festival.Grin

BoreOfWhabylon · 28/07/2020 09:10

Errol Grin Grin

noblegiraffe · 28/07/2020 12:32

The cave’s the first recorded instance of an AirBnB. It’s why Jesus carefully folded his mourning shroud and left it neatly behind - he didn’t want to lose his deposit.

ErrolTheDragon · 28/07/2020 12:49

Review: it was literally like spending a couple of days and nights in hell.

TinselAngel · 28/07/2020 12:51

"And did those feet in ancient times, walk upon England's pastures green?"

Unlikely. Next question?

TinselAngel · 28/07/2020 12:56

Or mountains even. You can tell I'm not in the WI.

Melroses · 28/07/2020 13:05

I always get that wrong - it becomes obvious when you get to the lamb bit.

I can't get the sheilds/chariots/burning things in the right order either.

highame · 28/07/2020 13:13

I was never sure whose feet they were.

FloralBunting · 28/07/2020 13:18

The Glastonbury legend is that Joseph of Arimathea, was Jesus' uncle, and a trader. He came to the UK because of the trade route, and brought Jesus along for the trip when he was a teenager. Joseph returned after Jesus' death, to deposit the Holy Grail and various other souvenirs of note.

It's actually one of my favourite religious bits of complete nonsense that have a glow of magic and a dollop of the mundane.

Cailleach1 · 28/07/2020 13:34

Never heard of British Israelites before but have a strong idea in my mind that the official royal family tree goes back to Odin.

The Queen as originating from Norman William the C has better than Odin. Well, more worshipped and current. William the Conquerer dickied up his genealogy to show him going back to Charlemagne. Chalemagne already had his dickied up to show him going back to Jesus. Descended from God according to Judeo-Christian beliefs. Can't argue with that.

Cailleach1 · 28/07/2020 13:35

Oops. Well, Christian beliefs.

Cailleach1 · 28/07/2020 13:37

I may be wrong but thought there was some talk of Mary Magdalen having a baby by Jesus. Moving to France. Maybe it was just the French bigging themselves up.

FloralBunting · 28/07/2020 13:41

Yes, there are some glorious lurid conspiracy theory books in the last few years, The DaVinci Code among them, that posit the Holy Grail actually being the bloodline of Jesus, coming through his offspring with Mary Magdalene, who hoped on a boat to France and brought their daughter with her.

I actually rather like a lot of the feminist gnostic malarkey around this - ThecWoman With The Alabaster Jar is rather entertaining and esoteric and all about vesicas and suppressed feminine symbolism.

noblegiraffe · 28/07/2020 14:10

I like the film Dogma where the main character is the great great....great niece of Jesus. He certainly had sisters and brothers in the Bible so this is possible!
