Donning art history hard hat, I think they're trying to change the narrative around Gentileschi's importance as an artist away from allowing her rape and rapist to define her life and work.

She was exceptionally good at using colour and light and also at depicting the female form in ways male artists couldn't.

Her works show many women from biblical and mythological stories as strong and clever.

There was a truly brilliant and hard hitting programme on r4 recently by an art historian who described how art history was written by men, as as such, used as a patriarchal tool.
