I want to cry - JK’s handprints

Someone has defaced JK’s golden handprints outside city chambers In Edinburgh with red paint and a pride flag.
Pink News are all over it saying she has blood on her hands.

I’m shaking with anger.
I dreamed last night that she was attacked by a mob.
She’s got the best security money can buy. Thank goodness. The TRA’s are inciting their own violence.

OP posts:
larrygrylls · 12/07/2020 14:22

I am on Rowling’s side and think she argues well BUT the hysteria about this on here is ridiculous. She is worth hundreds of millions, has no real concerns over her own safety or that of her family and can afford to totally protect and insulate herself.

Her hand prints being defaced will not bother her one iota.

A bunch of idiots on Twitter can no more touch her than the support of people on MN really makes any difference to her.

BaronessWrongCrowd · 12/07/2020 14:23

Vandalism is a stupid form of protest, but I do fundamentally agree with them. JK is making this her business so she should expect people to stand up against her nonsense.

Standing up or women's rights is nonsense? I suppose you say the same about the death and rape threats, the doxxing, the actual physical violence that women get for simply wanting to keep our hard earned rights and stated the truth.

Nonsense my arse.

Michelleoftheresistance · 12/07/2020 14:25

she should expect people to stand up against her nonsense.

By 'nonsense' you mean of course the nonsense that biological reality exists, that female people need sex based rights to deal with the issues of inequality that stem from their biological reality and that female people need single sex spaces because many cannot use mixed sex spaces.

That 'nonsense'? Seriously? Is this seriously your argument?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 12/07/2020 14:25

JK is making this her business so she should expect people to stand up against her nonsense.

They're bullying, abusive vandals. No more and no less. And it is her business, just as it is mine.

stella47 · 12/07/2020 14:25

Random memory of a colleague who worked in a unit for people with severe personality disorders, telling me about someone who threatened to murder his wife, and used to throw red paint around the house.

SerenityNowwwww · 12/07/2020 14:27

We had the fountains in Trafalgar sq dyed red by the animal rebellion (animal wing of the XR people). They want us - I think - to all be vegan.

RaveOnThisCrazyFeeling · 12/07/2020 14:40

cheeseaddict that story of the murder of Merci Mack is very sad. The terror that Merci must have felt in those final moments is awful to read about and my heart goes out to Merci and to the grieving family.

The suspect who has been arrested is a man who knew Merci since childhood, who according to sources subjected Merci to homophobic bullying when Merci was presenting as a gay man, and who apparently was enraged by a social media post that Merci made promising to post a video of the two of them getting 'nasty' together. It's a heinous crime.

Like all the other relatively rare murders of trans people though, it's absolutely 100% FUCK ALL to do with feminists standing up for sex based rights.

ChattyLion · 12/07/2020 14:44

This is disgusting. Women can’t stick up for women’s rights in public without being threatened with messages left in fake blood?!

MarshaBradyo · 12/07/2020 14:45

Awful, poor woman

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 12/07/2020 14:45

I'm not shaking, etc, if that makes those tone policing women's responses to this feel better. What I'm feeling towards both the individuals who participated in this stunt and those defending them is contempt.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 12/07/2020 14:48

Yes, same for me.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 12/07/2020 14:51

And goes with:

TRAs nailing a dead rat to the door of Vancouver Rape Relief

TRAs letting off smoke bombs outside a women's meeting next to Grenfell Tower

TRAs painting their puerile slogans on a listed building in Plymouth for the crime of allowing women to meet there

And many many more incidents, obviously.

Gingernaut · 12/07/2020 14:52

Screenshots.

I went there so you didn't have to

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 12/07/2020 14:57

I'm currently feeling contempt for whoever does the copy editing for Pink News too. "Splashed with red paint and a decorate Trans pride flag left beside it"?

Gingernaut · 12/07/2020 14:57

Some more for you.

Biased much?

The holy trinity 🤣🤣🤣

BatShite · 12/07/2020 14:58

Vile, but par for the course with these raging misogynists tbh.

Gingernaut · 12/07/2020 14:59

Last one. Promise.

I want to cry - JK’s handprints
Newwayofthinking · 12/07/2020 15:08

It just pushes it out into the sunlight a little more.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 12/07/2020 15:10

Her publisher hasn't distanced itself from her.

Helias · 12/07/2020 15:11

Can PN afford to lose any more defamation suits? I thought they were near-bankrupt.

That location's right outside Edinburgh City Chambers, where Edinburgh Council's main CCTV monitoring post is located. Be a shame if someone's cloak of invisibility slipped and they got caught on video destroying city property.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 12/07/2020 15:17

Her publisher hasn't distanced itself from her.

They mean the whining TRA allies who threw their toys out of the the pram demanding they cancel her but were rebuffed by their bosses. I suppose they could be said to identify as the publishing house itself. Even for PN, nicely done.

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 12/07/2020 15:20

@TheProdigalKittensReturn

Her publisher hasn't distanced itself from her.
They certainly haven't!

They were very firm with the staff members who said they wouldn't work on any of JKR's books.

Good for Hachette!

DetroitIndustries · 12/07/2020 15:20

More violence by men proving they are men by their actions. JK is my Shero.

SunsetBeetch · 12/07/2020 17:37

Tbf I see this more as "JKR has blood on her hands" than a threat. Utterly ludicrous of course, and I suspect the people who did it don't really believe that to be the case, but just want to try and shut her up by any means possible.

NearlyGranny · 12/07/2020 17:55

Monkey, not to mention threats of "kerb-stomping" which was something new to me that I had to look up. 😳

Many cultures have, or had, elaborate rituals for boys entering manhood. Most involve blood-letting, cutting or ritual scar making. It could all be read as an attempt to imitate or even eclipse the natural female marker of the menarche. And of course, not every culture had made the connection between sexual intercourse and pregnancy, so women could be seen as possessing powerful magic. I'm not an anthropologist, but the current feeding frenzy does ring some bells.
