It's deliberate I think. She obviously knows there's a difference between a natural blonde and someone who uses bleach to have blonde hair. Continuing Mara's analogy...you can dye your hair, but it will grow back in the same color it was before, and the color you added will fade. The only permanent change to your biology is some damage to the hair shaft on the hair that was dyed.

It is hard to believe but there is some mind-blowing stupidity out there and, unfortunately, there are people who literally believe TWAW and think that medical science can change people's sex. Which wouldn't be so dangerous if unscrupulous doctors and therapists didn't play on this ignorance.

This is pretty eye opening. I always thought that people who said TWAW were being kind, but now it occurs to me that there are people who truly believe you can literally change sex, or literally be born in the wrong body.
