Why r/GenderCritical was banned by Reddit

Hi! TRA here! Thought I'd take a quick breather from all the crowing, high-fiving, etc. to throw a lifeline to any actual open-minded critical thinkers wondering why Reddit banned r/gendercritical. Basically, you have 2 options when it comes to what to believe:

1. It's a true conspiracy: silicon valley, hollywood & the media are in the thrall of the well-funded TransAgenda, the need for woke points, child-groomers, women-haters, MRAs, etc. etc.

1. r/GenderCritical was hateful - if you want evidence then go to r/GenderCynical which existed to harvest said hatefulness. Read their strictly enforced rules about hate speech, misogyny, anti-feminism, pile-ons, doxxing, etc. (NB: abbreviating "trans exclusionary radical feminist" is not considered hate speech on this subreddit) and then sort their posts by "top" and "all time" and judge for yourself.

The trans men, trans women and non-binary people of Reddit do not hate women and do not tolerate abuse. Have a better day. x

Reddit has no problem with woman hatred. Rape torture and abuse of women is some of their most popular subs.
It is women speaking for themselves that reddit finds hateful.

Have you met some of those white male supremacist tech d00dz from silicon valley, or watched a Hollywood movie full of white male supremacists lately, or seen the white male supremacists on the nightly news and the TV shows?

Believe it or not there are white male supremacists who actually think white males are the majority population in the world and so they are entitled to dictate to the rest of us.

It’s cute that you’re acting as if you are concerned for the spiritual welfare of the women here (gosh, they might have the wrong opinion about gender critical! What a nice chap you are to come and warn them!) when we all know you would have no problem documenting the “hate” you find here. And by “hate” we all know that what really gets you seething is the thought of women disagreeing with you.

I guess the delightful list of subReddits with a whole range of anti-women, 'rapey' stuff is totes ok and not at all bigoted. Because it's obviously fine by Reddit.

So we women MUST be wrong about wanting to protect ourselves. And horrible bigots.

Reddit is disgisting. They allow /r rape and misogyny but dare say anything about men and you're shut down. They have pedo /r's and still left to go on.

MN closed this thread to ‘look behind the scenes’ and in that time deleted posts from FWR regulars but left standing the replies quoting those deleted posts that were made by other posters.

And as the content is still there, I fail to see where the comments have broken our special guidelines.

Also interesting is the other thread talked about here that OP admits to starting as a troll is also still standing.

My suggestion was to see for yourself, instead of blindly trusting anyone else's opinion. There are over 700,000 communities on Reddit, and anyone can start one. Getting upset with Reddit generally because some communities are truly awful (and BTW you'd have to look for those explicitly) is not unlike getting upset with the Royal Mail because nazis post letters. x

You're best off reading for yourself, skimming over the posts that have nothing to back them up, and taking each argument on its merits.
For that reason I'd dismiss some things I'd see on there. But others would inspire me to delve deeper.

And it is indeed an interesting observation.

It was banned because the group/s organising against it could see how exponentially the space was growing.

Not because of anything the women of r/GC were doing - that credit goes to the increasingly unstable and unhinged behaviour of transactivists. The treatment of JKR for daring to insinuate biology is real has been waking up thousands of people, especially women.

It's pretty obvious the sub was on target for maybe 100k subs by year end.

This is why it had to go and they pretty much admit it in their own discussions.

Women talking to each other is dangerous and inconvenient to men. Women have been suppressed by men for a millennia on this basis.

Yeah I remember seeing a thread years ago in the stalker sub (the one set up to stalk, harrass and doxx) about how actually they read GC and found themselves agreeing with some of the stuff there and that's why it was so dangerous, because people would go there and see that it wasn't actually a hate sub but a place for women to talk freely and might actually stay. That's what they were threatened by, not the actual content.

On reddit it is almost always a matter of stumbling across something and being gobsmacked that it is legal.

Some men need very few excuses to stalk and harass women, especially those women that find support from other women. Sure, we see males on here regularly, trying to put women ‘in their place’.

Oh, yes - eyebrows shot up to my hairline in many occasions. I have found some useful obscure tech answers there but even that can slide off into strangeness.

I don’t care that they’ve shut down that reddit thread. It just brings attention to their behaviour and proves to the ‘kind’ women how much they actually hate females. Those ‘kind’ women, who previously thought is bigots and didn’t believe that men were trying to silence us, will have got a wake up call. Move over my lovely feminist friends and make room for those joining us on top of the peak.

So they’ve closed that group, split the women up, who will go on to other groups/sites/amongst friends and explain what has happened. They haven’t shut females up, they’ve just spread them through other sites and groups, where they can educate others. Own goal achieved. Well done.
