Kier thinks trans rights don’t go far enough, but wants to stay clear of the political football

Surely, even Starmer can see that it is the job of politics to deal with " political footballs". Issues which are heated and generate a lot of disagreement. You don't avoid them, for goodness sake, you face them.

The real issue for Labour is that once you really face this issue, and get it out into the public demain for examination and discussion, it crumbles, and people are shocked at what is actually being proposed.
there would be next to no support for TWAW is all of the facts were known.

Labour have lost votes hand over fist in the traditional working class areas of my borough. They would have lost their MP if it hadn't been for a high percentage of postal votes for one ward returned in ballot boxes. Hmm They didn't win any other ward, either postal returned by mail or through booth voting.

There is a huge section of society now that has no political representation of their interests. We are already seeing some of the consequences of that void, and new political configurations are starting to emerge at local level.

Before the Clegg/Cameron government, a lot of these homeless voters would switch to the Lib Dems, but they are now a dead party with no real leadership.

Personally, I believe it is time for Labour to split. Good people who work hard for their community are being dragged down by all this shit.

@PronounssheRa

For those who have never heard of LRM here's a thread outlining some of his previous

mobile.twitter.com/mattforde/status/1277176813836554240

He should never have been promoted to the shadow front bench in the first place

Wow. I knew some of this, but seeing it all collected together like that: how the HELL did he get and retain his post? The man's a crank with anger issues.

This X 1000

Ramping antagonism up by X1000 is what has got us to this position in the first place. this is a democracy, and the public need to have full information and broad discussion ( that they are currently not getting) in order to form a view.

Where do we write to? It's unacceptable hypocrisy

You can write to Keir Starmer - in his role as leader of the Labour Party - at [email protected]

Wouldn't be surprised to see LRM out at a convenient juncture though, it's not like he's an ornament to the front bench

Yes, the guy is a car crash liability. Dawn butler mark two, except with a ginger beard and a more aggressive tone.

I saw him on GMB.

As with all of them, he dodged the question with the usual, “we need a discussion” and “we need to get people round the table”...

Yes, yes, yes.... but WHAT DO YOU THINK????

Everyone is terrified of saying anything.

We need that little boy to shout, “The king is in the altogether!”

DidoLamenting posted a link to comments made by this clown. Irrespective of anyone's politics, nobody making these sinister, Stasi comments about their constituents is fit to be in any shadow cabinet.

In the video, it is alleged he said his constituency was “not Tory-free enough for my liking”.“We’ve still got a few more to route out, but because of your fantastic door-knocking, we know where they live,” he said

"Single issue feminists" 😂 Brilliant. If a "single issue" effects every other issue, it probably isn't just a single issue.

Do you believe that women who have English as an additional language, or low literacy/health literacy levels, should be able to receive health information in words they can understand (i.e. "women need smear tests" not "people with cervixes need smear tests")?

Do you believe that women from religious groups where being alone, undressed, or in physical contact with unrelated males is forbidden, should have access to the single sex spaces which enable them to participate in society?

Do you believe that survivors of FGM should be able to talk freely about their experiences without being accused of "weaponising" or being exclusionary, and that FGM needs to be understood as a crime driven exclusively by misogyny and committed exclusively against females?

Do you believe that women from poorer communities, and those with a history of abuse and trauma, who are disproportionately likely to spend time in prison, refuges, psychiatric units, and shelters, should be able to do so without fear of male violence?

Or does your "feminism" only extend to helping mostly white middle class men get whatever they want? Does your "feminism" focus myopically on whether these demands impact significantly on white middle class women, and if not declare them fine with no regard for the impact on more marginalised women? Does your "feminism" promote a belief system that let's privaledged women gain the head pats they think will make them equal with privaledge men, while underprivileged women pay the price and are either dismissed or invisible?

Hate to say it, but you white feminists are fucking tedious. Maybe read up a bit on intersectionality and try to see the world through a lens which doesn't just center white MC women and their quest to gain equality with white MC men.

The Labour party are so late to the party. Everyone is. The debate and discussion has been going on for a few years, and the politicians were invited, but chose not to come. The 'table' came to Westminster too...and only a handful turned up.

When they realise, and when the public realises what the issues are in full - then the discussion can begin. the problem for Labour is, though, that once discussion really does begin, the ideology crumbles. It cannot stand up to scrutiny. Which is why the TRA movement relies totally on rehearsed mantras and sloganeering.

Check your assumptions. Bigot. And I suggest you do some reading too. You can start with The Madness of Crowds and graduate to The Open Society and its Enemies.

if he's smart he'll try and shift the discussion to it being about women's rights, safe spaces and fairness around sports rather than about the GRA. IF he's smart that is....

This is where it's heading but he probably does need to look at setting out a rational policy that deals with the specifics. Women's Sport is an issue that should be fairly clear cut.

Dictionary definition of tedious:

I was with you until you started to denigrate white middle class women. White middle class women still need their daughters to get changed away from men, they may still have religious beliefs that prevents entry them mixing with men while undressed, they will be denied places on boards because it is full of men but as 50% say they identify as women it is could Ted as gender equal. To suggest that middle class women are not affected and do not wish to fight this ideology is untrue.

Many of us tedious women have had the experience of bringing up small humans who have a habit of asking difficult things - how aeroplanes stay in the sky, where does water come from etc.

If only I'd had this killer response at my fingertips during those years. 'Sweetheart, that's the wrong question. Now, eat your broccoli.'

Has anyone asked Boris Johnson where he stands on Women's rights? Or whether he thinks TWAW?

It's the Conservative Party that were all for throwing women's rights away in their proposed self-id legislation and he is the Prime Minister. So it's very odd that he gets an easy ride on this with no-one ever asking him questions.

The difference with RLB is that she, too, was told to retract and apologise. She preferred to challenge KS. Of course she was sacked.
