But this wasn't just an ill thought out spur of the moment tweet.

This was an article in a magazine.

He wrote:

"Recently, of course, we saw people like JK Rowling using her own sexual assault as justification for discriminating against a group of people who were not responsible for it."

He has asked for that quote to be removed, but the article was posted several days ago. Apparently now that people are asking for his removal from the front bench, he sees his error.

Here is his performance on politics live, with the moving pictures (his face!) where he is rude to the ever patient Selina Todd who outclasses him.

(unfortunately the Express adverts are a bit like a firework show)

Isn't it incredible how the modern left is all about "lived experience" and believing in lived experience and making sure everyone understands the lived experiences of others...

Until women talk about our lived experiences of men's abuse and why it makes us afraid of men taking advantage of public policy. Then, and only then, it's "using" our rapes and exploitation. When we talk about men's harms to us and that we're not interested in playing sexualized pretend games with men, our lived experiences are just manipulative tears designed to get what we want.

The pattern becomes more obvious every year.

@AngryBananaSund

I suspect that RLM has just discovered that in a battle of words he’s brought a pointy stick to a gun fight
Dear god I love that woman.

Yes, he has. And I adore that she tied it squarely to Labour's stance on women's rights as well as him being a slogan-chanting twat.

She lobs gorgeously-crafted word grenades with total precision.

And I wrote to her too. So happy to think she might have taken comfort from her messages.

lionheart · 28/06/2020 18:26

Stephen King has retweeted the JKR Dworkin tweet.

Interesting to see the responses to that.

Jumbogirl · 28/06/2020 18:29

RLM = Twatty McTwat Face

RufustheRowlingReindeer · 28/06/2020 18:48

So i can still like stephen king?

Oh the relief

THIS. It's only certain people's lived experience that matters. Also, only certain people can self ID. Other people can't. Oh I do wonder what the main difference between those two groups of people is...

More examples of his unfitness to be an MP. You have to click on "show this thread" to get the full picture.

He should never have been given a Shadow Cabinet post. Starmer has a long way to go yet to clean up the Labour Party.

teawamutu · 28/06/2020 19:12

LRM talks about his own experiences of abuse in his 'apology'. Is he then weaponising his own experience? So hard to keep up Hmm

WinterIsGone · 28/06/2020 19:25

The bbc reports this story at the very end of this article:
www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-53210764

It says "Labour said it would be making no further comment about the issue."

There's also a "report" button at the end of the article. I'd never noticed that before.

SerenityNowwwww · 28/06/2020 19:27

I don’t see a report button (I’m on the app)

WinterIsGone · 28/06/2020 19:32

Yes, just checked the app, and it doesn't have the report button. Maybe it's a new thing.

I'm disappointed to see Labour saying it'll make no further comment!!!

SerenityNowwwww · 28/06/2020 19:41

They obviously learned that from John Lewis, M&S, Body Shop (and my dad circa 1977. ‘That’s the last word young lady - we’ll have no more on the subject!’)

SophocIestheFox · 28/06/2020 20:45

Love JKR’s response. God, I hope she also got her lawyers to send him a shot across the bows too.

She’s just getting warmed up Grin

Lived experience is everything, unless you’re a middle aged woman, in which case you don’t know anything.

lionheart · 28/06/2020 22:08

She's not going anywhere. Smile

DidoLamenting · 29/06/2020 00:09

I posted on the other thread that I didn’t think he should be sacked, but am mulling over why I think that now...and I could be swayed

He should be sacked for his contempt for democracy. His comments about voters in his constituency who voted Tory were despicable.

"This afternoon I spoke to Keir and asked to step back from the front bench duties as Minister for Air Quality and the Natural Environment but remain a Labour and Co-operative MP for Brighton Kemptown and Peacehaven.

See my statement below. 👇 t.co/g1I8T7QLVg "

It is with regret I leave the shadow ministry, owing to a campaign by right-wing media my position has become untenable.

"I shall return to backbenches for the time being to support Keir in defending and furthering the manifesto we stood on and to achieve a Labour government."

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 16/07/2020 19:35

Right wing media campaign? And there was I thinking it was his own stupid words that made his position untenable.

Siablue · 16/07/2020 19:42

Is that his reason for resigning or was he bollocked by Kier and had a strop? Any glad he is gone.

Did he actually receive that much hate? Dawn Butler had to shut her office due to safety fears. Female MPs (especially black female MPs) get a horrendous level of abuse.

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 16/07/2020 19:45

Private arse skelping option then, better than nothing but not by much

Binterested · 16/07/2020 19:46

Right wing media = right women

Melroses · 16/07/2020 19:48

So, what's he done?

As far as I can see he has been ignored for the last two weeks ?

FloralBunting · 16/07/2020 19:50

'A campaign by the right wing media'

=

'I am such a foolish liability that I am basically a gift to anyone who opposes Labour government, so I've been told told to fall on my sword in a futile attempt to retain some dignity'

DidoLamenting · 16/07/2020 19:51

Good riddance. I wonder what prompted it now?
