Just seen this on Twitter.

For those who like their Ginger Shampoo, can I suggest MooGoo.

Also, Aveeno is a good replacement for their Shea butter.

Other thoughts welcome. Feel free to suggest other ideas.

interestingly, on their Empowering Women page, they point out that girls still don't have equal rights and are working with Plan International on that issue.....

JamieLeeCurtains · 22/06/2020 21:01

Such bloody hypocrites. And idiots for letting ignorant wankers run their social media.

MrsWednesdayteatime · 23/06/2020 12:12

Saw this today

inews.co.uk/news/consumer/soap-boots-body-shop-superdrug-best-worst-brands-ethical-credentials-452808

Body Shop not looking as "Green and Ethical" as they once did.

Some good alternative brands listed in the article Smile

MrsWednesdayteatime · 23/06/2020 12:16

From the i article above

Bar soap produced by UK brand Lucy Bee, which advertises its products as organic, cruelty-free, Fairtrade and vegan topped the table, earning it “best buy” status, along with Suffolk-based brand Odulique, which took second place.
Lush’s vegan soap bars came 22nd in the list of 58, while Carex was placed at No 34 and The Body Shop came in at No 38.

SerenityNowwwww · 23/06/2020 12:56

And a wire brush and carbolic soap came in at #1

Anybody heard anything else re: internal memos to consultants?

I imagine they are thinking that this is blowing over?

MrsWednesdayteatime · 23/06/2020 16:01

Re: internal memos to consultants, I saw this on Twitter, it's a few days old so not sure if it's been added to the thread already

Too right they "didn't get the tone right" and "should have been more respectful".

They should have emailed that internal mea culpa to people like me who complained about their crass tweet. Not crapped on about fucking 'Menstruators'.

Useless, non-ethical company.

YourVagesty · 23/06/2020 16:43

I still haven't even had a response from them. Fuckers.

No it’s not seen as purely an attack on JKR - it was seen as a slap in the face to her as a DV victim (and therefore all DV victims) AND then the additional dehumanisation if women as menstruated because y’know some men have periods too...

Piss off Body Shop. Any store that dumb doesn’t deserve to survive. And why was that about them fibbing about their green / bunny friendly credentials?

acatcalledjohn · 23/06/2020 16:59

I'd just like to celebrate getting that my account and details have been deleted. They sent me a confirmation email this morning.

I emailed the Body Shop to say I was disappointed and shocked by that tweet (i've been busy since it was posted and it's been at the back of my mind to contact them ever since). :

Hello,

Thanks you for getting in touch with us.

We welcome hearing different points of view and your comments have been heard and noted by us.

From all of us at The Body Shop.

Their response

SerenityNowwwww · 24/06/2020 16:38

That’s what I got even when I asked for my data under GDPR. They aren’t even reading their emails!

Areyoureallylistening · 25/06/2020 09:24

Yep I did too. Then I asked 3 more times - and also why they needed my address to take me off the system but they said they needed to verify me. I am a little concerned about this as I am paranoid about the vitriol on the internet. Anyone have any experience in these matters?

SerenityNowwwww · 25/06/2020 10:42

Well, I’d need to dig out my notes... ico.org.uk has all the details.

They have to supply you with details of what they have for you within a ‘reasonable’ time (that’s usually about a month).

Anyone I have asked has always (apart from this shower) got back to me pronto to confirm my request then send the info later (witching the month).

I usually also add that I keep records of what data is held where/when deleted/passwords etc and that I keep these in the event if any suspicious or malicious activity.

I also ask what info they hold, how they use it, how it is stored, backups, security measures, who has access, if they have procedures should someone with access/passwords leave the business or (in the case of Audible - and Mumsnet- go postal), etc.

It can be fun.

Areyoureallylistening · 25/06/2020 13:52

Ooo thanks. But are they supposed to ask you for your details to confirm that it’s you to delete your details? They know my email and it’s linked to my address. Bizarre

SerenityNowwwww · 25/06/2020 13:55

I think they do to confirm it's you - you contact them so you know that you are speaking to them and not a scammer. I suppose it prevents a 3rd party cancelling your account! They cannot ask for passwords or CC details.

Areyoureallylistening · 25/06/2020 14:50

thank you - I tried to phone them a few days ago but couldn’t get through.

SerenityNowwwww · 25/06/2020 15:18

I wonder why? If twitter is anything to go by they will be getting quite a few cross calls.

PearPickingPorky · 25/06/2020 20:12

has anyone else started getting spam emails from adult dating sites since they emailed The Body Shop? Hmm

Ilovedogs18 · 25/06/2020 20:20

I wrote to them to complain. They posted this after J K had spoken about being a survivor of domestic and sexual violence. They had the cheek to have an isolated not alone hashtag pretending to care about victims of DV then openly mock a survivor brave enough to talk about it when she said it was traumatic for her. I complained and asked them not to use DV as a marketing gimmick. They just replied "all views will be taken into consideration" basically could not have cared less. Our pain is not for their profit and I will never ever buy from body shop again

CanWeComeIntoTheOutNow · 25/06/2020 20:22

I reverse boycotted today: bought a box of Yorkshire Tea for the first time ever. Simply because of their tweet 😂

acatcalledjohn · 25/06/2020 23:13

@PearPickingPorky

I haven't. Both my inbox and junk mail appear free from dating junk.

SerenityNowwwww · 25/06/2020 23:21

Nope. Every so and often I get a flurry of crappy American rubbish (healthcare, drains etc) but I’ve had these for a long time on and off)

boatyardblues · 25/06/2020 23:26

I missed the Yorkshire Tea tweet. Do you have a link?
