Just seen this on Twitter.

For those who like their Ginger Shampoo, can I suggest MooGoo.

Also, Aveeno is a good replacement for their Shea butter.

Other thoughts welcome. Feel free to suggest other ideas.

Here's the tweet for anyone not on twitter.

The Body Shop has fallen
SerenityNowwwww · 16/06/2020 20:17

@Mrsemcgregor

The reply I got from my complaint was a different tone. I didn’t get called a mensturator at least.
Heard and noted - YOU'RE ON THEIR LIST!!!
SerenityNowwwww · 16/06/2020 20:21

I contacted them via email on the site and no one has got back to me. My ears are still ringing from a very long chat with someone yesterday. I’ll dig out the highlights...

SerenityNowwwww · 16/06/2020 20:22

“Here is why we reached out to J.K. Rowling; we stand with ALL menstruators. People have periods – women, men and non-binary people. And plenty of women don’t.

It’s Pride month so we believe it is important we have these conversations now. We all need to educate ourselves, be inclusive and stand together. Together we can end the shame and stigma around periods for all menstruators. Let’s keep the conversation moving forwards, not backwards.“

SerenityNowwwww · 16/06/2020 20:27

The short version of my response...

“The reach out was BULLYING. It was intended to mock....How dare you insult 51% of the population...I am not a menstruator (several times)...maybe YOU need educated on this?... do you know that the UN estimates that there are 126 MILLION women missing... and don’t lecture me on Pride - I was going to these before you were born (I assume you are in your 20s)...

God I was very irritated.

BringbackLang · 16/06/2020 20:30

They could have said sorry. They could have held their hands up and said we got this wrong, we apologise for the offence caused, we're sorry we reduced you to menstruators but they didn't. They dug themselves in deeper.

They proved what an awful, disrespectful company they are. They don't see that they've treated their core market with contempt. They've dehumanised us.

I know people who sell Body Shop. I would hate for them to lose income because of this but I won't be buying their products ever again.

This is Body Shop's Ratner moment. I hope the woke cookie are worth it.

SerenityNowwwww · 16/06/2020 20:36

They won’t apologise but I’m amazed they said anything (unlike Audible who have gone for the ‘say nothing’ approach.

Body shop can just get lost.

RufustheRowlingReindeer · 16/06/2020 20:41

@YourVagesty

I was just looking at the comments underneath one of their new postings. twitter.com/TheBodyShop/status/1272527550959489027

Take a look, it makes for great reading.

It's not going away Body Shop!

Oh wow 😳
MrsKingfisher · 17/06/2020 00:33

It's really not going well for them, enter the 'influencers' to push their latest products. It's so predictable it's boring.

ItsLateHumpty · 17/06/2020 01:06

I’ve updated this thread

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3939793-Reply-from-the-Body-Shop-re-JKR-just-so-dreadful?msgid=97528261

Body Shop has sent out comms to their consultants re THAT tweet. Still not going well. So sad.

HeIsAVeryBadBoy · 17/06/2020 14:34

Thanks @ItsLateHumpty ;)

xJodiex · 19/06/2020 07:44

The thing they forget, well, two things -

Women are 51% of the population, trans are 1%.

The customer is always right.

We are many, they are few.

SerenityNowwwww · 19/06/2020 08:43

Well they have managed to train the chicken to press the ‘delete account’ button but no conformation of my GDPR request from the Body Shit.

They are very good aren’t they 🙄

acatcalledjohn · 19/06/2020 10:07

I've now had an email from them asking for my DoB to action my deletion request.

Finally.

jakeyboy1 · 19/06/2020 10:12

Perhaps the body shop and lush could run off into the sunset together and make trans bath bombs?

So many retailers not expected to survive this crisis, they should tread very carefully.

SerenityNowwwww · 19/06/2020 11:00

@acatcalledjohn

I've now had an email from them asking for my DoB to action my deletion request.

Finally.

They only wanted my name and email - they did ask for my son but I told them to bugger off as I didn’t trust giving them any more details that absolutely necessary as they seemed to be run by people with a very scant understanding of GDPR and compliance (let alone marketing).
justasking111 · 19/06/2020 17:17

The thread about superdrug was interesting a mum clocking the wording on pads being for persons who menstruate. super drug is owned by the same parent company as body shop and avon.

SerenityNowwwww · 19/06/2020 17:19

Really? That’s news - thank you!

justasking111 · 19/06/2020 17:24

Sorry super drug is chinese owned. Done so much googling going batty with this wandering into rabbit holes

SerenityNowwwww · 19/06/2020 20:29

Everyone seen the petition to ask them to stop calling women menstruators?

MrsKingfisher · 20/06/2020 06:10

@SerenityNowwwww

Everyone seen the petition to ask them to stop calling women menstruators?
No, do you have a link please?
finnmcool · 20/06/2020 06:59

SerenityNowwwww · 20/06/2020 08:03

(Sorry I thought we couldn’t post petition links - I got deleted for doing that a while back)

finnmcool · 20/06/2020 09:54

SerenityNowwwww I'll report my post, have sent PM to Kingfisher.

SerenityNowwwww · 20/06/2020 09:55

Maybe it’s change now since there is a petition section now - this was when a case was going through court and there was a fundraiser. I’ve already been on the naughty step so a bit cautious!
