Just seen this on Twitter.

For those who like their Ginger Shampoo, can I suggest MooGoo.

Also, Aveeno is a good replacement for their Shea butter.

Other thoughts welcome. Feel free to suggest other ideas.

Seasidetrains - if you think you're a feminist, then have a read of pretzel's post then.

The word feminist has been much abused recently - especially by men with bushy beards telling JK Rowling to suck their cocks, whilst calling themselves feminists. Inconceivable huh? A man, calls himself a "feminist", using the very abusive term "suck my dick" to a woman. Who would ever think that would happen.

Feminism fights for the equality of females in a male dominated world. It's very simple.

AyeRobot · 10/06/2020 23:14

Icantreachthepretzels Brilliant.

Excellent rant!

StrangeLookingParasite · 10/06/2020 23:18

@DumbledoreAskedCalmly

Emma Watson has tweeted in support of trans rights.
Of course she has. Hmm

We need to move the pretzels

ComDummings · 10/06/2020 23:19

I’m actually really shocked that after JKR published that personal and thoughtful essay talking about being a survivor of domestic violence and sexual assault The Body Shop posted that snarky, misogynistic tweet. I think the tone of it combined with the timing is just awful. Wow.

GabsAlot · 10/06/2020 23:20

ive commented on their twitter alot of people have

i dont even like harry potter but i'll buy them now

Lordfrontpaw · 10/06/2020 23:21

Well they are getting a few tweets - I suppose the one who was in charge of the twitter account is scratching their head and googling ‘Gerald Ratner’.

Body shop work with Bloody Good Periods who fall over themselves not to say the words woman or girl.

Senior managers in consumer product businesses like this are literally focused entirely on cost of production, sales volume and profit margin, which are the measures in their share and bonus plans. They are not interested in anything that does not impact their pay.

They won't have a clue what's going on on social media, and the fact that they are invoking some gruesome American male professor to rebuke a UK legend and one of the few female self made billionaires ever here will pass them by completely unless we tell them. Otherwise the patronising mansplaining will carry on.

Maybe they will be so desperate for a return on their investment in the US MLM exploitation business that they won't give a toss about their repulsive insult to a woman here.

PamDenick · 10/06/2020 23:22

Emma. You did such good work with HeforShe.
Now it’s just HeforHeidenifyingasaSheanddisregardthehardwinrightsofthebiologicalShes

AsCoolAsLangCleg · 10/06/2020 23:23

God I despise Emma Watson.

JemimaShore · 10/06/2020 23:24

Gabs, buy her other books too - her Robert Galbraith books are great.

BlackForestCake · 10/06/2020 23:25

@Seasidetrains

'You have kids? How did you know between you and your partner which one of you was going to get pregnant?'

i'm the only one that currently has the equipment, yes, but i don't see why that should define my identity.

like, which precise bit of me is my 'woman-ness' located in? i guess that's the logical end to this argument that interests me. if we can't point to it, it makes me strongly think that it isn't really there.

So, sex is real after all then?

Your sex doesn't define your identity. That's what feminists have been arguing forever. But it does define your sex.

Wondersense · 10/06/2020 23:26

Last time I looked at Body Shop they were massively greenwashing - pretending their products are all natural and that kind of bollocks. Claiming that this & that has carrier oils in it (but ignoring the fact that carrier oils need to be stored in cool dark places not on warm shelves, and they also need to be cold pressed and unrefined). This is especially so with Vitamin C products that can be bad for your skin if it degrades. Lush is the same - great perfumes but overpriced soaps that will still strip your skin despite being 'natural'.

@slipperywhensparticus I absolutely can. Try a company called Ziaja. They make Ziaja Med Vitamin C Firming day cream. I looked about 2 years younger or more aftre trying it the first time so clearly my skin benefitted. That's a bit tricky to get at the moment but goat's milk day cream is good too for general moisturiser. I know someone who likes their Saffron line. The Marine line was too harsh on my skin though but you might be ok with it. Just stick to my suggestions for the time being.

You can buy directly from their website or their official account on Ebay. Every one of my female family members have bought from them after trying (and they usually gives you loads of little samples too).

Mistymonday · 10/06/2020 23:28

I’m with JK Rowling myself. Not a big Body Shopper either but I will give them a formal boycott now.

Is there a list of all the woman hating companies somewhere so I can boycott them too? New to this but increasingly annoyed...

Crystaltree · 10/06/2020 23:29

L'Oreal have yesterday just grovellingly rehired Munroe Bergdorf too. All is forgiven apparently.

ComDummings · 10/06/2020 23:30

Does anyone know a good alternative to their chamomile cleansing butter please? I don’t want to give them another penny.

Justhadathought · 10/06/2020 23:31

The Body Shop "fell" years ago, Once Anita Rodidck sold it on to L'oreal it was the never the same. Just another corporate - although still quite like some of the products.

JemimaShore · 10/06/2020 23:31

Yes, L'Oriel apparently think Munroe calling someone "a big hairy dyke with a barren womb" is ok now.

Floisme · 10/06/2020 23:33

I like almond oil as a cleanser.

merrymouse · 10/06/2020 23:33

like, which precise bit of me is my 'woman-ness' located in? i guess that's the logical end to this argument that interests me.

Nowhere. You are just a human being whose sex is female. Why do you need 'woman-ness' to be located anywhere? Isn't it enough for your identity to simply be human?

AllTheUsernamesAreAlreadyTaken · 10/06/2020 23:33

Just on the Body Shop topic,
I follow the Body Shop UK Twitter account and it wasn’t them who posted it, it was just the blue tick The Body Shop account which I’m guessing is the US account?
I think the Body Shop UK account has been staying happily silent on the matter knowing they would suffer in sales or ravaged in the media if they tweeted in support of either side.
I wonder how Body Shop UK and other national accounts are reacting (privately) to this?

FantaOra · 10/06/2020 23:34

I use Elemis, it is expensive but a tub lasts a year as it's so rich.

Pugdoglife · 10/06/2020 23:35

Almost all my toiletries come from the body shop. Time to shop elsewhere I think.
