Mine come in two camps.
1- up to date on current issues, generally like to educate themselves on moral issues, really care about minority groups of all varieties and they all utterly and actively detest anyone GC.
2- Don't really give a shite about about current issues, have the potential to have genuinely problematic views, will listen to me rant when pushed and agree "the world has gone mad" but may well follow it up ith something racist or homophobic.

Because I relate so much to camp one on most others issues it feels sickeningly lonely to be on another planet to them regarding this.

GeorginaEstonia · 07/06/2020 23:09

ROI GC woman here. I feel very alone at times. It is nice to see there’s more of us.

Enderthedragon · 07/06/2020 23:18

'Close mouth. Open purse'.

Fuck off Jameela.

Greenkit · 07/06/2020 23:19

@51Soontobe60

Thank you

What is ROI?

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 07/06/2020 23:21

Fuck off Jameela indeed.

ROI = Republic of Ireland?

emojisarentwords · 07/06/2020 23:27

It must be men with wombs

Greenkit · 07/06/2020 23:28

Ah yes @SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito of course

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 07/06/2020 23:30

For the Irish contingent, there is some surprising sense in the journal's article's comments.

TehBewilderness · 07/06/2020 23:31

@AngeloMysterioso

Well of course Jameela’s had to get her two pence in there as well hasn’t she.

She is so desperate to be the Wokest Woke person in Wokeland. It’s actually rather pathetic.

That's kinda perfect considering that women are insisting we are a noun not a collection of verbs.
Ringsender2 · 07/06/2020 23:32

@Flootered @MadamBatty @GeorginaEstonia - me too

Winesalot · 07/06/2020 23:37

@Greenkit

I have joined the twitter and am now following her.

Who else do I need to follow

@ Baroness_Nichol @ Fondofbeetles
Blackdoggotmytonguestill · 07/06/2020 23:47

MadamBatty I bagsied George in 1982. Grin but the more, the merrier, I say.

SunsetBeetch · 07/06/2020 23:49

An Open Letter to JK Rowling from Bloody Good Period (who we already knew were woke and rubbish). Note the signatories. What a fabulous own goal.

7Days · 07/06/2020 23:54

I'm ROI too
Sickening really.

I made a pro JKR remark on fb earlier in a small funny group. Real name!!! Obv got backlash but was sick of myself how nervous it made me. It's still going on btw.

Good woman JKR.

colouringindoors · 07/06/2020 23:54

Jonathan Ross has been a star 🌟

BaronessFloralBunting · 08/06/2020 00:01

Ah, Jameela is a PopFem, I see. The sort that is meekly quiet and gives her money to men who make sad faces or scream obscenities at the disobedient ones.

Heygirlheyboy · 08/06/2020 00:03

Jameela basically goes along with the crowd and apologises profusely to the crowd if she missteps. Integrity zero.

SapphireSeptember · 08/06/2020 00:06

I love JK Rowling. Thank you Jo for speaking up for those of us who dare not! ❤

Watching people on my Facebook feed go mad is funny. There's my feminist friend (who has worked in a DV shelter and with victims of sex crimes) calling JK a TERF and saying TWAW (JK didn't even mention transwomen, but sure, go off on one.)

Then there's the people in the wizard school LARP group I'm in losing their shit (they did last time) which is fun. Someone's posted a tweet from Riley Dennis, who's pretending JK didn't write the HP series. I don't know if I can keep quiet on that one.

I've been reading this thread to sooth my soul. Grin

@Dances
FGM survivors have to be 'inclusive'

Oh for fuck's sake, that's horrendous. Angry I can't believe anyone could post that with a straight face! The other tweet you linked to got deleted, so I don't know what it was about but I enjoyed you commentary.

Bookoffacts · 08/06/2020 00:15

Can I join?
I feel like I've found my tribe too. I've been tweeting GC on twitter for about a year now. I love it and JKR and the Baroness.
I tweet under a fake name for above reasons but would love to go public. It's scary though and the one time I did bring it up on a night out it didn't go well. People will 'non contact' you :(

ChakaDakotaRegina · 08/06/2020 00:23

That open letter is astonishing. They want to
Educate her... about menstruation and kindness and feminism and injustice. Im amazed they didn’t shoehorn Covid 19, the search for madeleine m and global recession in there and blame her for the full hat trick.

I despise myself for being too scared to post in support. JK Star

Flootered · 08/06/2020 00:29

@bookoffacts I love that you brought it up on a night out, that's something I would do!
I'm petrified to bring it up anywhere now though because it's gone so dreadfully for me in the past.

I'm really pleased I bit the bullet and posted here, it is soothing!

Just caught up on Johnathon Ross tweets, the GC are always so articulate and calm in comparison. Fair play to him!

DancelikeEmmaGoldman · 08/06/2020 00:38

This is good, for anyone looking for some proper science.
quillette.com/2020/06/07/jk-rowling-is-right-sex-is-real-and-it-is-not-a-spectrum/

I woke up this morning and I’m still startled that we’re in 2020 and arguing about whether women actually exist.

But if you think about it, it’s actually a perfect fit for a century where social media disembodies us; universities have abandoned difficult work for fear of offending paying clients; we’re fed 10 second news headlines; and generation of children were never told no.

We’re here because we prefer outrage to hard thinking and “be kind” rather than “show respect”, when we’ve redefined kindness as pandering. Having abandoned critical thinking for a show of feelings, here we are, looking down the barrel of pandemic and climate change, while squabbling in the back seat over the reality of sexual dimorphism in mammals.

runningon · 08/06/2020 01:05

JK is The Queen!

Littleninja1 · 08/06/2020 01:39

I've liked JK's tweets but feel genuinely concerned this could be mentioned by my employer or a future employer.

For a few months now I've had the following comparison going round in my head and I wish I could tweet it out without potential repercussions in real life. TO BE CLEAR, THIS IS AN OBTUSE ANALOGY TO MAKE PEOPLE THINK, I'M NOT SUGGESTING I CAN IDENTIFY WITH BEING BLACK. I want to demonstrate the hypocrisy from the woke on one issue versus another.
^As a white person can I identify as a black person? I feel I am black. I was assigned white ethnicity at birth but I identify with black culture and am black.

I assume this wouldn't go down well with black people, and probably non-black people too. Why? Because I am inserting myself into an oppressed, protected group (race). My feelings don't make me black. I have not grown up with those experiences.

Why are men and women insisting men can feel they are a woman (an oppressed, protected group based on biological sex) and that feeling is more important than the biology and oppression of the group they identify into?^

Apileofballyhoo · 08/06/2020 01:39

Ta for the link to the journal comments MotherFork. I love the article on how to have lesbian sex someone posted there. I'd read it before but forgotten. It's so bonkers.
