The firefighter/fireman analogy is so bloody stupid.

Helmetbymidnight · 07/06/2020 13:48

i cant see #istandwithjkr trending unforts

NeurotrashWarrior · 07/06/2020 13:49

So clue think the word woman is sexist.

Right.

Abitofalark · 07/06/2020 13:50

Article in Spiked Online: 'The sexist crusade against JK Rowling' cites some of the abusive name-calling directed at her on twitter, which I'm shocked at and not going to quote here.
'What awful crime has she committed to deserve these ceaseless insults? She said women menstruate. She stated a biological truth. So deranged has political correctness and trans correctness become that you can now be witch-hunted for saying menstruation is a female phenomenon.' ...
'The reason sexist, dehumanising phrases like ‘people who menstruate’ are used these days is to avoid saying ‘women’. The word women has become almost verboten in discussions about gender. ' ...
'Why is the word ‘woman’ being so studiously erased by the PC set in favour of speaking about women almost as if they are animals (cervix-havers, menstruators)? It’s because nothing must ever be done to offend the infinitesimally small number of men who identify as women but of course do not have women’s bodies (trans women), or women who identify as men and who still menstruate but do not believe that they are women (trans men). This is how bonkers trans ideology is becoming: the entirety of womanhood, the very word woman, must be expunged from decent society in case it upsets men who think they’re women and women who think they’re men. Those individuals’ fantasies take precedence over women’s
realities. Know your place, women – sorry, I mean cervix-possessors.'

JigglypuffsCaptor · 07/06/2020 13:50

You know you've reached new levels of stupid when a company that tracks menstruation who markets to women is trying to erase their marketing demographic 🤦🏻‍♀️

Aesopfable · 07/06/2020 13:53

I've noticed this before, an obsessive clinging to certain things - books, tv series (Dr Who etc)

I think this may be reflective of the number of autistic individuals. I am not saying they all are but obsessive interest in a particular field is a common feature of autism.

Kinsters · 07/06/2020 13:54

Not read the whole thread but my goodness, her tweets are things of beauty!

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 07/06/2020 13:55

The only way this could get better would be if Harrop wades in and says something sueable stupid. grin

Hasn't Hayden already done so? If you're reading and felt like choosing a Brit who represents the very worse of the bullying towards women over this issue, Joanne, that would be the one to take to court.

ComDummings · 07/06/2020 13:56

Go JKR, you’re 100% correct

NeurotrashWarrior · 07/06/2020 13:57

8Don't worry there are YouTube videos which tell you how to make realistic looking menstrual blood which you can use on a pad or fill a mooncup with.*

In addition to being revolting, if the mooncup is being put where I assume it would be is that not at a Darwin Awards level of unwise?

Thisismytimetoshine · 07/06/2020 14:02

Jesus, that Clue nonsense 🤦‍♀️
Menstruation is a biological function, not a "woman" thing.

Well, it's certainly not a function of male biology... Confused
Why do companies allow teenage nitwits to run their social media accounts? Surely the bad PR costs far exceed paying someone with a tiny bit of nous a decent salary?

Fanthorpe · 07/06/2020 14:04

So many people I respect for other things calling her hateful. I hate Twitter at times like this. And I miss Deborah Orr.

All the talking points being covered, all the old none sense conflating sex with gender. The misogynists. The biologists. The ‘go girlfriend’ shit. Depressing.

Live your life, be free. Burn the patriarchy.

merrymouse · 07/06/2020 14:04

I find the Clue argument really worrying.

I do not deserve rights because I am a woman, I deserve rights because I am human. However, because I am a woman (which absolutely is a menstruation and uterus thing), my rights can be taken away, simply by designing a world that prioritises people with male bodies, who don't have to suffer any of the consequences having a female body.

Sex is a biological function. I can no more avoid it than the cows currently outside my window. Because I am human I can hope to live in a society where I have access to birth control and laws that protect me from forced sex, but take that away and I have no more control over pregnancy than any other mammal.

zanahoria · 07/06/2020 14:05

Typical Spiked, have to ruin a decent article by kicking off with a sideways swipe at Black Lives Matter

Enderthedragon · 07/06/2020 14:06

From a company who run a period tracking app:

Menstruation is a biological function, not a "woman" thing.

Wuh?! Confused

lemorella · 07/06/2020 14:06

@NeurotrashWarrior

I can't believe someone has typed that out believing they have very best interests of women's health at heart.

Teenage girls must read this and feel so confused about their bodies.

stella47 · 07/06/2020 14:07

Marilyn (THE Marilyn) has added his support:
I GOTTA say this...
@jk_rowling
is one of the most supportive people I have ever met with regards to individuals choices to be whoever they want to be!!The fact that she seems to be continually ‘on the chopping block’ as ‘anti trans’ is absolute nonsense!!Give here a break!!Smiling face with 3 heartsGlowing starOrange heart

MonsteraCheeseplant · 07/06/2020 14:10

God she's getting a colossal amount of shit replies to those tweets. I want her to know that she is vey well supported. She's so strong, I admire her greatly.

NeurotrashWarrior · 07/06/2020 14:12

I know Lem. Typing from a position of privilege. Do you have to pay for the app? Many women in this world would not be able to access such a thing as a fancy app for predicting your period. Ffs, basic access to sanpro...

NeurotrashWarrior · 07/06/2020 14:13

Marilyn just now:

Listen, don’t come for me bitches...my name is MARILYN and I was wearing dresses and full make up in 1976, when I faced the very real danger of being MURDERED every time I went out!! I have FOUGHT for individuals rights and freedom to be and express themselves any way they want!!

contactusdeletus · 07/06/2020 14:19

Thank you, thank you, thank you, Jo. From the bottom of my heart.

Thank you for speaking for those of us who can't. For all the women who can't defend ourselves by legal means, when we're slandered online and our hard-won sex-based rights come under attack. For all the women who would love to speak up, but can't hire security or install gates to defend ourselves against the threat of physical harm. All the women who want to add our voices to the gender-critical debate, but can't risk the economic blow of losing our jobs and becoming unemployable. Thank you.

And thank you for being a true ally to lesbians, in a world where even our own supposed representatives seem bent on selling us down the river. It means more than I can say.

This was the light in the dark I needed today Flowers

Ereshkigalangcleg · 07/06/2020 14:22

There is absolutely nothing refuting anything she has said in those comments. Just insults.

^It might work superficially, because of the outrage. People wonder why the reaction is so strong.
^^
^But it becomes very clear, quite quickly that it's due to indoctrination. Because questions instantly reveal the lack of basis.

This. All this. So much sunlight.

NotAssigned · 07/06/2020 14:23

I sincerely hope the reason Jo hasn't tweeted for a while is that she is busy going through the responses and articles and highlighting those that are going to receive a lawyer's letter.
