JK Rowling threatening legal action

TheLashKingOfScotland · 29/05/2020 16:52

A TRA and Canadian Green Party rep has made libellous comments about JK regarding her position on trans rights and her suitability to be trusted around children.
JK asked her to retract them or they would hear from JK's lawyers. Currently they are digging in. Seemingly unaware that JK has pursued legal cases based on Twitter comments before and that it isn't acceptable to make unfounded statements about people.
It will be interesting to see how it unfolds.
It could have wider reaching consequences if certain sectors see they can't just make unfounded accusations any more.

And sweet about the drinks with Fionne and friends. I didn't see the interaction that brought that about but would love to be a fly on the wall!

That's going to whip up some eye popping jealousy for those whose behaviour means there's zero chance of her even acknowledging them, much less go out on the razz together.

I thought exactly that when I saw the physically beautiful, rather ethereal looking person with the sword that someone posted upthread. The difference in outcome had a different pathway been taken is becoming rapidly more stark.

Thanks all. My mental health can’t cope with Twitter and I like to hold onto my low blood pressure. I have enjoyed the summarising on here though.

Yay for maya and jk on the same thread standing up to dr twat.

RoyalCorgi · 31/05/2020 11:16

I am very glad that JKR is standing up for women's rights and not giving in to bullies.

But does anyone else feel fearful? We have seen these people issue multiple threats of rape and murder against women. We have seen the assault on Maria MacLachlan and the attempted assault on Julie Bindel. The more angry these people get the more aggressive they are. I do feel worried for JK Rowling and other prominent feminists who have been bravely defending women's rights. It worries me that so few other prominent people are coming out in support - there is strength in numbers.

aliasundercover · 31/05/2020 11:34

'transgenderism' is my new favourite word.

aliasundercover · 31/05/2020 11:36

The JK tweets about Jeremy Corbyn are great.

I was a supporter of Corbyn, I agreed with most of his policies, I voted for him twice - it doesn't mean I cannot laugh at some witty writing.

My biggest problem with many on the left is they have no sense of humour.

YgritteSnow · 31/05/2020 11:45

Where's his lawyer I wonder? The lumpen Stephanie Hayden is awfully quiet.

SerendipityJane · 31/05/2020 11:46

Forget sueing them (most are probably living with their parents and only own a computer). The police should knocking on the doors of the UK ones for harassment and malicious communication.

Or simply to "check their thinking" - someone get Humberside police on the job. They'll be there with blues & twos in a trice.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 31/05/2020 11:47

'transgenderism' is my new favourite word.

It's a useful word to encapsulate gender identity ideology and the political agendas of transactivists.

Mermoose · 31/05/2020 11:59

I'm not on Twitter, just wondering if any public person - politician, celebrity, anyone who tends to make out that they're decent & that they have a backbone - has supported JK?

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 31/05/2020 12:05

My biggest problem with many on the left is they have no sense of humour.

It seems that having no sense of humor is a bit of a tell that the person is likely to have other rather serious issues too, based on current evidence.

I'd forgotten about this WRT Harrop as well

Oh Jessen. Another woman hating creep. The two are peas in a pod.

FloralBunting · 31/05/2020 12:50

'Lumpen' 🤣😂🤣😂

YgritteSnow · 31/05/2020 12:55

Just been reading the 🥝 Fs thread. They seem to think the GMC will never do a thing about him. However he has to re-register as a GP every five years and they take that opportunity to off load him - by just not allowing him to re-register for various reasons.

AnyOldPrion · 31/05/2020 12:56

But does anyone else feel fearful?

Watching this unfold is horrible. We were warned by Lisa Muggeridge, amongst others, that it would become more and more unpleasant as the wheels fell off and that is where we are.

But the process is underway and there can be no turning back. I hope we all come out the other side unscathed, but we have to face our fears and keep going.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 31/05/2020 13:06

From the can't sue us all link someone posted.

I'm Jasmine Joséphine Sakura-Rose, speaking for myself

Yes, person with anime icon, I'm sure you are.

(Dying at "sakura-rose". That would be a rather odd looking flower.)

twitter.com/Denise001212/status/1266867665085349888

No understanding whatsoever that if a 12 year old girl was given a choice it is very unlikely she would choose to marry a much older man.

It reminded me of this about the British army's role in the suppression of suttee. I wonder if Harrop would twist even that into evil "cultural oppression"?

Charles Napier, the British Army’s Commander-in-Chief in India, faced with local complaints about the abolition of Suttee, replied:

You say that it is your custom to burn widows. Very well. We also have a custom: when men burn a woman alive, we tie a rope around their necks and we hang them. Build your funeral pyre; beside it my carpenters will build a gallows. You may follow your custom. And we will follow ours

nauticant · 31/05/2020 13:34

I'm Jasmine Joséphine Sakura-Rose, speaking for myself

They're a constant presence on twitter forever scolding non-compliant women. Thought I'd have a google and guess what:

www.valleyslibdems.wales/caerphilly

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 31/05/2020 13:36

That is exactly what I would have expected someone who'd call themselves Jasmine Joséphine Sakura-Rose, other than possibly needs to add rainbow knee high socks.

aliasundercover · 31/05/2020 13:38

Thanks nauticant.

And ProdigalKitten was right, an odd looking flower indeed.

DidoLamenting · 31/05/2020 13:40

(Dying at "sakura-rose". That would be a rather odd looking flower.)

Not sure what you are referring to. "Sakura Rose" is a tea- Japanese Sencha tea with rose petals - and "Princess Sakura" is a type of (rather overblown) rose. It's a ludicrously pretentious name but "Sakura Rose" is a real thing.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 31/05/2020 13:45

The LibDems really were determined to perform as poorly as possible in the election, weren't they? Not sure who else ran in Caerphilly but I can't imagine even Labour at its most incompetent fielding a less promising candidate.

ThePankhurstConnection · 31/05/2020 13:50

@Dances

Good post FannyCann except please don't encourage people to post on the #TheIckaBob thread. It's a lovely thing. Leave it to the kids
So why can't people post on them to compliment the children't art? I think that is what was meant.
Picalilliandcheese · 31/05/2020 13:57

I have rainbow knee-high socks. Part of growing old disgracefully.
