JK Rowling threatening legal action

A TRA and Canadian Green Party rep has made libellous comments about JK regarding her position on trans rights and her suitability to be trusted around children.
JK asked her to retract them or they would hear from JK's lawyers. Currently they are digging in. Seemingly unaware that JK has pursued legal cases based on Twitter comments before and that it isn't acceptable to make unfounded statements about people.
It will be interesting to see how it unfolds.
It could have wider reaching consequences if certain sectors see they can't just make unfounded accusations any more.

DR can fuck right off.

Thisismytimetoshine · 09/06/2020 02:23

What an unpleasant little prick.

Here’s someone who actually knows JKR. Has benefited enormously from her work. Who has enough money, (because of her), he won’t ever need to worry about having to pay bills or his next job.

But while he -grudgingly- acknowledges the impact she’s had on his career, he’d rather bow to other white men, than stand-up for Jo Rowling. He’s not even managed a proper disagreement, just a mantra.

Men rarely disappoint me anymore though, I have the bar set so low.

If you want to work in Hollywood you call the Wachowski brothers she her and mam.

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 09/06/2020 05:17

Has Emma Watson got embroiled this time? The pic of her wearing the #TWAW tee shirt was used last time, just wondered...

I am very disappointed in DR's response, but if he's been working with that group for years, it's what would be expected of him. Better for him to have stayed out of it really. I'd love to see what his response would be when the much-vaunted "medical establishment" rise up and revolt against the puberty blocking and early mutilation of teens who have succumbed to the trans ideology that's being peddled just now.

hes a youngman - what interest does he have in womens rights?
none, clearly.

CaveMum · 09/06/2020 08:17

I see Jonathan Ross has capitulated too. These men have no morals and no backbone 😤

Lordfrontpaw · 09/06/2020 08:34

It just clearly demonstrated that men can’t really be (in general) relied upon to stand for women’s rights. Really they ought to because it is mostly men trying to take them away.

They stand up for women's rights when they feel it is good for their interests, but when they realise women's rights are not always what they want women's rights to be - dust.

Yes, I always found it interesting the amount of men who were willing to let their voices be heard on topics such as a womans right to chose to be a grid girl. Or how women chose to be prostitutes and strippers and such and its 'anti feminist' to favour the nordic model. Crickets on any other topic though generally.

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 09/06/2020 15:59

Jonathan Ross has capitulated too.

You are kidding me?!

Lordfrontpaw · 09/06/2020 16:01

I think one or both of his kids threatened to hold their breath until their face turned blue.

Worse than not saying anything at all, really. Lily livered git.
Userzzz · 09/06/2020 16:10

She's a very brave woman and I appreciate her taking this stance. She's so rich she could float off into the sunset but she recognizes how important these issues are.
Thank you, JK!

AwrightDoreenTakeAFuckinDayOff · 09/06/2020 16:40

Men back down. No surprise there.

But think about it - they really win either way.

They back down because it doesn’t affect their rights now AND it ensures they get rights if they choose to self ID, live as a woman or transition.

Double fucking bubble.

RoyalCorgi · 09/06/2020 16:58

Men back down. No surprise there.

Indeed. Men have so little to lose by speaking out - so much less than women. The men who have spoken out have had a bit of comeback, but it's women who have lost jobs, been threatened with rape and torture, been physically attacked. And yet it's women who continue to speak out, and certain men, cowardly little shits that they are, who either don't speak out at all or who speak out and then backtrack. There is a special place in hell reserved just for them.

AwrightDoreenTakeAFuckinDayOff · 09/06/2020 17:56

And they’ll probably find a way to squirm out of that as well.

AwrightDoreenTakeAFuckinDayOff · 09/06/2020 18:00

Or say that it is their right to enter heaven despite their hooves, horns and tail and rosy complexion.

AwrightDoreenTakeAFuckinDayOff · 09/06/2020 18:02

And that women deserve the menz places in hell because they are more used to the heat what with them living most of their lives in kitchens. Angry
