'Kiss on the cheek'- a crime or sexual assault

I feel terrible for the woman here. She helped out a lorry driver who then kissed her on the cheek - and she is now terrified about corona virus.

Men, if you're reading this - just fucking don't do it. Ever, let alone to an elderly woman during a viral pandemic.

I hope they catch the man and he understands what he's done.

No I don't support "all women" ...

Colour me surprised.

HorseRadishFemish · 19/05/2020 10:42

"Feminism is a political practice of fighting male supremacy in behalf of women as a class, including all the women you don't like, including all the women you don't want to be around, including all the women who used to be your best friends whom you don't want anything to do with anymore. It doesn't matter who the individual women are."

But you're not a feminist, blah, blah, blah..

HorseRadishFemish · 19/05/2020 10:49

Apologies for not crediting Andrea Dworkin.

DidoLamenting · 19/05/2020 10:56

Ooh did you think I didn't know that? How patronising.

It's absolutely ridiculous to support all women all the time just because.

Of course you are choosing to ignore that I fully agree that what happened could be prosecuted as an assault. It would have a far better chance of succeeding as an assault rather than being thrown out as a sexual assault, as happened in the Gascoigne case because it lacked sexual intent.

PlanDeRaccordement · 19/05/2020 11:00

I think the police have better things to do, such as tracking down the monster who shot and killed a 19yr old woman walking by Aldi

BeetrootRocks · 19/05/2020 11:05

So in your opinion it's fine for men to go around kissing 70yo women they've only just met while Corona virus is happening.

Gotcha.

HorseRadishFemish · 19/05/2020 11:20

Gas coin this, Gas coin that..

Do you have a chuffing season ticket?

Plbrookes · 19/05/2020 11:40

@BeetrootRocks
So the life of a 19 year old woman is of no importance. Gotcha.

HorseRadishFemish · 19/05/2020 11:55

Are we still on playful or have we moved into banter?

BeetrootRocks · 19/05/2020 12:01

Gotcha?

Haven't you seen the news in the last few weeks? Older people are at much higher risk in this pandemic.

I can't believe that's a serious comment.

And no men shouldn't be going around kissing 19 yo girls they only just met on the cheek either.

Gotcha indeed Hmm

BeetrootRocks · 19/05/2020 12:02

I don't remember writing gotcha on my post! Really annoys me when people write that Grin

How weird.

Anyway yes obviously I don't think 19 yo girls dying is AOK what an odd thing to suggest.

Plbrookes · 19/05/2020 12:16

Yes it's really annoying which is why I replied to you using the same term. But you seem put out that I've deliberately misrepresented your position when you did exactly the same yourself to another poster.

BeetrootRocks · 19/05/2020 12:23

Well that poster had said that the police shouldn't bother themselves with this while worse was going on.

There's always something worse going on somewhere is the problem with that.

To think it's AOK for men to go around kissing random 70yo women during Corona, while the police are in fact fining people for not adhering to social distancing, is just weird.

And I'm still surprised that someone wouldn't know that older people are more at risk.

BeetrootRocks · 19/05/2020 12:25

The police have shit form for being interested when some women are killed by exes etc anyway

So they may be operating on the something worse going on approach already.

Dyrne · 19/05/2020 12:48

PlanDeRaccordement

Contrary to what shitty TV police dramas would have you believe, the police investigate more than one case at a time...

Dyrne · 19/05/2020 12:52

Also the officers that investigate murder and the officers that investigate sexual assault often aren’t the same department.

And Derbyshire and Lancashire police are 2 completely separate forces.

And they’ve already arrested some suspects in the drive by shooting case.

Apart from that, your Whataboutery is spot on...

Plbrookes · 19/05/2020 13:38

@BeetrootRocks
No one has said it's 'A OK for men to go round kissing random 70 yo women during corona'. You made that up. But then, you think it's perfectly fine that BAME communities are being disproportionately hit by coronavirus - 'nothing to see here'. Fine!

Dervel · 19/05/2020 13:56

I’m just a little bit flabbergasted how in the time of covid-19 we still question a woman’s testimony and fall over backwards attempting to give the man the benefit of the doubt.

People shouldn’t be standing within 2m of people they don’t know let alone planting their lips on them. Wether it was meant innocently is entirely beside the point.

Given the woman was over 70 and in the at risk category I hope she’s ok and this is used and an example that we should be taking this virus much more seriously. Right now the social mores of when kisses are acceptable should well and truly be taking a back seat to shielding the elderly.

BeetrootRocks · 19/05/2020 14:37

Some of the responses here are getting a bit peculiar Confused

Plbrookes · 19/05/2020 14:50

Well, if you misrepresent people, don't be surprised if people do the same to you.

BeetrootRocks · 19/05/2020 15:31

That poster said the police shouldn't bother with trivialities like this while worse things are happening.

That's a really dubious sentiment not least because there is always something worse happening somewhere.

If the police shouldn't be interested then that's a green light for men to do it, surely. Means it's not a problem.

Not misreporting at all.

Plbrookes · 19/05/2020 15:40

You said that the poster thought it was AOK for men to go round kissing 70 yo women during corona. She didnt say that and you were misrepresenting her. You seriously think that it's OK to do anything that the police don't prevent? Seriously? So adultery is OK is it?

NewNameGuy · 19/05/2020 15:47

It's clearly not sexual assault though it was wrong in the current virus climate

BeetrootRocks · 19/05/2020 15:48

Oh FGS.

Police have been fining people for breaking social distancing laws.

But it's not a matter for them for a man to kiss a 70yo.

Not sure why there's such a disconnect here.

deydododatdodontdeydo · 19/05/2020 15:51

No, men faire la bise with each other too. Probably not as often, but I saw it reasonably often pre-confinement.

There may be regional variations. I haven't observed men kissing men. It's not at all done where my friend lives.
