I feel terrible for the woman here. She helped out a lorry driver who then kissed her on the cheek - and she is now terrified about corona virus.

Men, if you're reading this - just fucking don't do it. Ever, let alone to an elderly woman during a viral pandemic.

I hope they catch the man and he understands what he's done.

@BeetrootRocks
Oh FGS.
See, other people can do it too.
'The force said the victim, a woman in her 70s, was "very distressed, especially at a time when close contact with strangers is to be avoided" and added: "We take all allegations of this nature extremely seriously."'

From the article. But you're saying they have no interest in taking it seriously.

BeetrootRocks · 19/05/2020 16:06

?

The poster I responded to said the police had better things to do with their time.

That is her view.

PlanDeRaccordement · 19/05/2020 16:09

“that poster had said that the police shouldn't bother themselves with this while worse was going on.”

I did not say that they should not bother at all. I said “they have better things to do like track down the murderer” of Aya Hachem killed in a drive by shooting.

As in, they’re not exactly sitting around doing nothing. The police have their hands full with many other cases, such as this murder so an unwanted peck on the cheek just might have to wait it’s turn to be handled since a killer on the loose is much more dangerous to women than a rogue cheek pecker.

Goosefoot · 19/05/2020 16:13

I have to say, assuming the main issue with this is more the Covid element, I would not call the police over something like this unless it seemed to be done purposefully as an attempt to infect, like people licking fruit at the store. I think people who do this stuff because they are clueless are better just told they are being reckless without involving the police.

But maybe that happened and he didn't respond well.

PlanDeRaccordement · 19/05/2020 16:13

I mean which would you rather be caught first? Man driving around with a gun and shooting innocent women to death or man driving lorry who might randomly kiss you on your cheek? I know which manhunt I’d like the police to focus on first.

BeetrootRocks · 19/05/2020 16:14

'I think the police have better things to do'

This in standard communication in the UK means, don't bother with it, why are they bothering with it.

BeetrootRocks · 19/05/2020 16:15

They've caught the 3 men who shot the woman.

Hearhoovesthinkzebras · 19/05/2020 16:19

'A kiss by its definition is obviously sexual'

What? Then I've been sexually assaulted by many people, including elderly women. I shall start reporting them all.

PlanDeRaccordement · 19/05/2020 16:33

This in standard communication in the UK means, don't bother with it, why are they bothering with it.

Beetrocks. Noted. I find it endlessly illuminating how the British will think a plain sentence in English means something other than what it says!

PlanDeRaccordement · 19/05/2020 16:34

“They've caught the 3 men who shot the woman.”

Good. They hadn’t when I made original post. Means they are properly prioritising their man hunts for murderers over cheek kissers.

PlanDeRaccordement · 19/05/2020 16:38

I often refer to this chart Beetrocks. Can you tell me if it is accurate?

'Kiss on the cheek'- a crime or sexual assault
Plbrookes · 19/05/2020 17:31

"They've caught the 3 men who shot the woman.”

Wow, they've been convicted already?

Dyrne · 19/05/2020 18:02

People have got to be fucking with us now. No one is this dense.

Plbrookes · 19/05/2020 18:12

Well, Beetrootrocks says they've caught the people who did. Case closed!

StrangeLookingParasite · 20/05/2020 03:04

There may be regional variations

Île-de-France /Savoie /Bretagne.

Tachograph · 21/05/2020 05:36

I would put this in the same category as my neighbour almost killing me by leaving the handbrake off her car whilst I was lying down nearby working on my car - a stupid but unintentional act which I probs wouldn't involve the police in.
