Creepy AGP reviews on M&S website

I've noticed quite a few online reviews from men of M&S lingerie. These knickers are the latest I've seen. 3 reviews, 2 of which are by men.
I get the feeling that the review is part of the AGP fetish. It reminds me of flashing in that it's intended to make women/girls feel uncomfortable/shocked/embarrassed. I've seen men reviewing bras from the "Angel" first bra range too.

My only worry is are women allowed to say no I want a woman

For all we know this person could "pass" quite well and then sadly women will be unaware. Or they may be aware but not be confident to say anything. Women are very conditioned not to upset anyone.

So women won't get chance to say no because they won't be asked. I can't imagine the person in question, says "btw I'm biologically male can we carry on?"

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 19/05/2020 14:38

I suspect that if anyone said no I want a woman the person whose services were being declined would cause a massive scene. Which women will know, and which will impact how comfortable they feel asking for a woman.

In some places you have to book bra fittings you cant just walk in. I have no where local that does proper bra fitting as we only have an m&s who I dont trust although many do. But I'd they pulled the same stunt elsewhere which JL appears to have been done....

I took dd to debenhams I had to book online and it was a 30 min drive or 45 min bus ride there , and my email would say "see you at 2.30 for your fit with diane" , well what do you do? U need the fitting, you booked online, no one else is free to take over...you are basically forced arent you

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 19/05/2020 14:44

I really hope there isn't a rush to invade the independent lingerie stores, which have always been the best places to get fitted imo. First one I went to the woman doing the fitting was about 60 and made the whole process a lot less unpleasant than it could have been.

SarahTancredi · 19/05/2020 14:48

You should be ok. Those places are few and far between these days. And no one takes their teens to somewhere where its 50 quid for one bra when u can get a 2 pack for 12 quid.

Plus lets face it no ones gonna give a shit about a shop they havent heard of. JL and m&s are the big guns far more enjoyable to brainwash them and post the whole thing on twitter

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 19/05/2020 14:50

Yeah, there's no surprise at all to the fact that the big chains have been targeted first and hardest. In addition to the bragging rights they're generally run by the kind of committees that are easy to Stonewall into compliance.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 19/05/2020 14:52

It's the teen girls who're my biggest concern though. Where are they meant to go if all the chains have been hijacked?

SarahTancredi · 19/05/2020 14:53

Mine too as I have 2 dds...

I can't afford to buy loads and return all the time Sad

Haworthia · 19/05/2020 14:54

Isn’t it depressing that fetishists are now so encouraged to take their fetish out in public (not to mention the added bonus of forcing other people to participate) that we now have skeevy M&S fucking reviews. Bloody hell. I’m sure blokes have been buying M&S underwear for longer than I’ve been alive, but this is next level gross. Yet another slow encroachment into female space. I read clothing reviews all the time, and do not want to be forced to read about how much penis room is available in some floral knickers.

And I bet M&S would hesitate to delete these reviews too... because inclusivity.

BabyLlamaZen · 19/05/2020 14:57

What's AGM?

DobbyTheHouseElk · 19/05/2020 14:59

These reviews have been there for years. I refuse to buy pants a man thinks are great for his hairy arse and bits.

About 25 yrs ago I worked somewhere were we sold underwear. Not a high street shop and it was a side line. I was a teenager and I had to fit men for Bras all the time. It was uncomfortable to say the least.

Melroses · 19/05/2020 14:59

What's AGM?

I think it is Autocorrect for AGP,

Bananabixfloof · 19/05/2020 15:02

What's AGM
Annual general meeting?

If you mean AGP its Autogynephelia. A condition where men get there rocks off at womens expense.

MoltenLasagne · 19/05/2020 15:22

If they fit men then they won't fit me, what with the lack of extra bits. I had thought some of the new pants M&S advertised looked a bit "pouchy", perhaps they've started designing for their niche market?

Bananabixfloof · 19/05/2020 15:24

perhaps they've started designing for their niche market
I believe they have. I also believe they should shout this far and wide. Advertising innit.

Lordfrontpaw · 19/05/2020 15:48

Like Kinky Boots? So M&S (or S&M perhaps) Kinky Pants?

Maduixa · 19/05/2020 15:53

I remember seeing an article on the M&S reviews a while ago from one of the trash tabs (DM? Scottish Sun? Something like that), probably cribbed from MN. The comments were full of nudge-nudge-wink-winkery and the implication that male bonding over trying on (and possibly, er, relieving oneself in) undergarments designed for women is completely understandable and trivial.

I think this is one of those things that yer average bloke just doesn't "get", because there's no reverse equivalent that's comparable. If a woman posted about masturbating in the fitting room in a pair of Cool 'n' Fresh Ombre Print Boxers and then putting them back on the shelf, it would probably IMPROVE M&S's sales. Used laydeez knickers sell for far more than new ones on eBay, for example, and women are not the target market.

Lordfrontpaw · 19/05/2020 15:59

If women were doing that there'd be guard dogs and barbed wire around the knicker section and men's changing rooms.

Datun · 19/05/2020 16:42

Well Baroness Nicholson has written a stonking letter to Marks & Spencer basically asking them what the fuck they're playing at.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 19/05/2020 16:46

Well done, that woman!

Lordfrontpaw · 19/05/2020 16:47

I hope she is going after john lewis. I have just collated six pages of my correspondence with them on the matter (and no I didn't get an actual answer).

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 19/05/2020 16:49

Have you sent it to her? Might be worth doing if not.

Lordfrontpaw · 19/05/2020 17:09

Not yet - I'm just going to sit and read it over a nice cup of tea and a kitkat and have a chortle (I do write a good missive).

Can anyone DM me with her contact details?

Clymene · 19/05/2020 22:26

Isn't it interesting how the rights of mainly white transwomen are much more important that the rights of ethnic minority women?

I wonder why that might be? Hmm

Michelleoftheresistance · 22/05/2020 08:51

Can't think, Clymene but you could also add able bodied, affluent, educated and straight to many of the leading voices pressuring places like M&S.

In terms of a campaign, it's quite remarkable what a political lobby minority group can achieve in terms of influence and outcomes, and at what speed, when they're straight, white, able bodied, affluent, educated and male.
