Transphobic attitudes contradict the good feminism does everyday

Why is there such a large portion of the feminist movement so against trans culture. Trans people have been some of the biggest advocates for supporting allegedly oppressed groups. Why is it suddenly okay to for feminists (a formally oppressed group) to oppress trans people (currently oppressed group) why?

Definitely not custard texture, firmer, more like pannacotta but with added slimy undertones.

AnyOldSpartabix · 08/04/2020 23:16

Trans people have been some of the biggest advocates for supporting allegedly oppressed groups-- male fetishists of various types

There you go, OP. Fixed it for you.

Re retro puddings a very nice one was jelly made up with half the quantity of water. When it's half-set whisk in evaporated milk to make up the missing quantity of liquid. It sets as a very light , fluffy, aerated pudd.

Orange jelly half water & melt chocolate into it when half set beat evaporated milk until very light then fold together- vast quantity of “chocolate orange mousse” that my children expect for Christmas/birthdays etc Grin

And if you don't whisk it you get something which makes your child eat her tinned fruit with nowt.Grin
Birds custard, preferably with cocoa added, was the only edible milk-based dessert DM could concoct.

If it was white that would make so much more sense, the name combined with it being pink was bothering me.

TinselAngel · 08/04/2020 23:19

Do you remember blancmange rabbits with green jelly grass?

MrsTerryPratchett · 08/04/2020 23:20

I'm making that chocolate orange thing.

IAmFleshIAmBone · 08/04/2020 23:21

I feel like a right idiot having spent 20 mins wracking my brains trying to figure out where the thread got derailed onto the subject of blancmange Grin fuck sake

I like a cheesecake made from jelly (use much less water, and when it's half set, whisk it up with cream cheese for a mousse textured cheesecake topping). Kind of like a blancmange but nicer?

This thread has gone from something nonsensical to something informative and interesting Grin

ErrolTheDragon · 08/04/2020 23:21

Well, it was meant to be white and made as Dido describes but 60s packet blamonge was pink.

ErrolTheDragon · 08/04/2020 23:22

Derailed? Why would the OP call themselves blamonge if they weren't interested in ersatz desserts?

IAmFleshIAmBone · 08/04/2020 23:24

@ErrolTheDragon quite, but I had totally missed the username!

FloralBunting · 08/04/2020 23:24

I remember it being referred to as pink blancmange, so I always assumed there were varieties.

And I see the word and just see a slimy pudding called WhiteEat and I feel sick.

ByGrabtharsHammerWhatASavings · 08/04/2020 23:26

My gran used to make pink blancmange. No idea what she put in it but it was always foul. However this thread has now made me crave panna cotta. Do you think it could be made dairy free? They do some pretty nice soya creams nowadays.

ErrolTheDragon · 08/04/2020 23:27

What I can't work out is why this substance existed post-rationing when we had eggs and proper custard is so easy to make, more nutritious and much nicer. Confused

MehitabelWhurl · 08/04/2020 23:28

Omg I really want strawberry jelly made with evap now!!

Winesalot · 08/04/2020 23:29

I cannot understand the attraction to blancmange myself. Tapioca was also just someone’s sick idea of torture. I felt right oppressed when I was served up tapioca. Can’t stand bubble tea even now.

Now... creme caramel. Yum!

IAmFleshIAmBone · 08/04/2020 23:29

I'm sure you could use alpro cream or oatly single cream, I don't see why that wouldn't work.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 08/04/2020 23:29

I'm fairly sure the derailment is more interesting than anything the OP had to say, based on current evidence.

PerkyPomPoms · 08/04/2020 23:29

Oh I love a good panna cotta or baked custard - emphasis on ‘good’.

Turquoiseeyes · 08/04/2020 23:30

YY to the pink rabbits on green jelly masquerading as grass. Can't remember what used to be put into the eyes, smarties?

Reginabambina · 08/04/2020 23:30

Women aren’t formerly oppressed ffs. Re transphobia, it’s very rare in feminism (although it does definitely still happen and everyone should be aware of it). Do you mean opinions that TRAs don’t agree with? That’s not the same a transphobia. It’s interesting that you think that women as a ‘formally’ oppressed group should put up with all the misogynistic crap that continues to be a real problem but trans communities can’t even be expected to put up with differing opinions on points of fact.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 08/04/2020 23:30

The first time I was served semolina with jam at school I was a rather dramatic goth teenager and was all, this is a bowl of sperm with blood in, visually speaking, what the hell?

doesthissoundok · 08/04/2020 23:31

I've never seen such vitriolic abuse of a maligned and misunderstood pudding. Not liking it is no reason to stop it appearing on your table all the time. Even if you're eating something savoury. Bigots and BERFs bloody everywhere! Angry

IAmFleshIAmBone · 08/04/2020 23:31

I miss semolina and jam so much, it was absolutely delicious Blush

isabellerossignol · 08/04/2020 23:32

30p in Asda will get you blancmange in a packet!
