Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Transphobic attitudes contradict the good feminism does everyday

Why is there such a large portion of the feminist movement so against trans culture. Trans people have been some of the biggest advocates for supporting allegedly oppressed groups. Why is it suddenly okay to for feminists (a formally oppressed group) to oppress trans people (currently oppressed group) why?

In my experience, the only people that trans people have been advocates for supporting is themselves

Ah no, to be fair they have also supported the rights of those grown men who like to dress up as puppies to be allowed to roll round and play with young children. In public. In the name of 'acceptance'.

I was going to ask OP what it was like living on the ceiling

Nooooo! Now I can’t get 🎵 Knock Three Times 🎶 in my head! Dammit! I don’t even like country! 😭

  • out of my head.

I've heard of blancmange but never actually seen it in the flesh, as it were.

I've been told we have a milk glut in my area. And I have jelly... 1970s experiment!!!

isabellerossignol · 08/04/2020 23:00

We used to have blancmange at primary school, but I don't think it was the real deal. It was just like pink custard. I think the real deal is more like milky jelly isn't it? I loved the pink custard mind you...

Winesalot · 08/04/2020 23:01

Blancmange is pretty wobbly in the flesh. A bit like this opening post. HTH

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 08/04/2020 23:01

So just custard with food coloring in it? That doesn't sound horrible.

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 08/04/2020 23:04

For those that don’t know what blancmange looks like, there ya go.

I have seen Blancmange in the flesh, it's pale pink and wibbly. I am a child of the 1958s onwards so yes I know the horror of Blancmange.

Datun · 08/04/2020 23:04

Yet, blancmange looked good, but then you tasted and it didn't quite deliver. Course, then angel delight came in and that was the end of it for me.

I'm sure I could work a metaphor in there somewhere, if only I could be arsed.

isabellerossignol · 08/04/2020 23:05

I think the stuff at school was maybe strawberry flavoured or similar. We had it with cake! But yeah, basically it was custard-y.

Turquoiseeyes · 08/04/2020 23:05

Ooh massive cross post

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 08/04/2020 23:05

Oh god my granny used to make “pink pudding” which is strawberry jelly made with yogurt - a most unusual texture 😬

I on the other hand have just made the bread dough & put the fruit to soak for tea bread 😇

Datun · 08/04/2020 23:05

Yeah, but didn't taste of anything, not sweet enough, and wobbly, like jelly.

ErrolTheDragon · 08/04/2020 23:06

The 60s version of blancmange was too sweet, too pink, and essentially fake custard . Real custard needs eggs. (Coincidentally I'm eating baked egg custard for my supper at the moment. )

Datun · 08/04/2020 23:07

Crikey Errol, your blancmange sounds nothing like mine 😄

TheBewildernessisWeetabix · 08/04/2020 23:08

Why do so many trolls come to MN JAQing off?
We know why.

ErrolTheDragon · 08/04/2020 23:10

My DMs blancmange was like nothing on earth tbh.
And then there was milk jelly (made with condensed milk) and junket.

I ate my tinned fruit with nowt. Grin

MotherOfAllNameChanges · 08/04/2020 23:11

Why do you think feminists are no longer oppressed?

DidoLamenting · 08/04/2020 23:13

Proper blancmange is a milk pudding set with gelatine or carageen rather than eggs, as custard is.

I find it a bit slimy and not really worth the effort. It should be white, not pink but obviously you can add food colouring.

Re retro puddings a very nice one was jelly made up with half the quantity of water. When it's half-set whisk in evaporated milk to make up the missing quantity of liquid. It sets as a very light , fluffy, aerated pudd.

Doyoumind · 08/04/2020 23:13

How can blancmange be pink? Perhaps it was really blamonge.

nzborn · 08/04/2020 23:14

I am a child of the sixties and l have never had that dessert just lucky l guess

FloralBunting · 08/04/2020 23:14

I REALLY hate the word blancmange.

This thread is the worst.

Datun · 08/04/2020 23:15

Ours was white. With possibly a splodge of jam in the middle. Looked good, tasted of nothing

DidoLamenting · 08/04/2020 23:16

So just custard with food coloring in it?

Not really. As there is no egg, blancmange doesn't have the same richness and the texture is different.
