I'm really pleased to be able to finally launch this new website:

www.transwidowsvoices.org/

Some of you were kind enough to deploy your spades to enable its creation. All of the funding has been provided by feminists such as yourselves.

This is a site owned by trans widows where women will be able to tell their stories. There is a huge need for this to counter the one sided "stunning and brave" narrative that is the only story told by the media.

There are four stories on the site so far and more stories will be added as we receive them. We also hope there will be some exciting guest blogs.

I think I can risk speaking for all the trans widows here when I say, thank you so much to @MNHQ for continuing to have us and to and all FWR supporters for enabling us to get this far. Smile

@TinselAngel thank you for giving these women a voice and for bringing so much sunlight.

It's a unique place for women to tell the truth usually silenced or ignored in the mainstream. Stunning and brave 💐

Pleased to see that the TWV website has been quoted in the Policy Exchange report on the terrifying CPS domestic abuse guidance.

Excellent.

That’s a great report, and such useful contributions from TWV and other organisations who support and represent those with lived experience.

Tinsel - reading that story and wincing at the cruelty and violence.

Thinking about the amount of retconning of life stories to fit current preferred narratives, it prompted me to wonder how many could actually recall a history of being cruel to siblings or others. I sometimes wonder if that's an inconvenient truth because that unthinking entitlement and readiness to be controlling and violent doesn't emerge only in adulthood (bar injury or illness of particular kinds) - those behaviours have a long and mean history.
