New Transwidows website: Trans Widows Voices

I'm really pleased to be able to finally launch this new website:

www.transwidowsvoices.org/

Some of you were kind enough to deploy your spades to enable its creation. All of the funding has been provided by feminists such as yourselves.

This is a site owned by trans widows where women will be able to tell their stories. There is a huge need for this to counter the one sided "stunning and brave" narrative that is the only story told by the media.

There are four stories on the site so far and more stories will be added as we receive them. We also hope there will be some exciting guest blogs.

I think I can risk speaking for all the trans widows here when I say, thank you so much to @MNHQ for continuing to have us and to and all FWR supporters for enabling us to get this far. Smile

Thanks Tinsel, I've found my way there. Flowers

Ime the womanising script is about looking for 'the one', not the sex itself. This time wasn't perfect, next time will be the one. Its no different from compulsively looking at porn online searching for the perfect fix.

R0wantrees · 14/07/2020 12:29

Flowers for 'Kelly' & her children.

'Kelly' describes:
"It was always my fault. Or so I was told. I was wooed, pursued and I was swept away. I never saw the truth or what was to come."

The tactics/ behaviour patterns of coercive controlling abusers are common.
This article is a very useful tool to help raise awareness:

There's a difference between someone who wants a relationship with you, and someone who is looking for a suitable mark. They may not be doing it deliberately or consciously.
Part of the feeling if betrayal that comes with being a trans widow is realising you invested in a relationship, but you could have been anyone that fit his preferred profile.

People who look for ''a good fit'' apply various tests called 'compliance tests' before they get invested. If you spot one its a really good idea to fail it, and let them move on.

Flowers for TinselAngel, you've done amazing work amplifying the voices of these women Star

MarieIVanArkleStinks · 31/08/2020 13:15

I've never commented on the trans widows thread because I didn't think it my place, but I'e seen your contributions to the site over the years @TinselAngel, and wholeheartedly admire everything you do to support other women. Your site is a wonderful valuable resource, and you are a Star

Socrates11 · 31/08/2020 13:16

Thank you so much to all the wonderful women sharing their difficult & painful stories here & on the website. They are not easy stories to hear so it must take some sort of strength to tell them.

When the women's rights battles for public space get wearing & the endless bloody nonsense seems so ludicrously bizarre,... these stories remind me (along with the detransitioner stories) of how deeply dark, twisted & selfish the 'gender ideology' demands really are. In solidarity with trans widows.

Had a little look at the site, went onto find Christine Benvenuto's book... Here it is for Kindles cheap as chips (love books under a fiver, sorry it's Amazon)

This was the Guardian article linked to from Filia site, good read so I have high hopes for the book.

Brilliant site. Thank you for amplifying these stories.

Gingerkittykat · 01/09/2020 00:05

The article about Tom is from 2012, I wonder if an article like that would still be allowed or would castigate the wife for not embracing him.

SweetGrapes · 01/09/2020 15:12

Amazing website! Heart-rending stories from everyone.

I do lurk on your threads sometimes but today I have just been reading through your new website.

What can I say? It seems like such an important milestone in bringing your stories out in the open!!

Flowers for every trans-widow out there - heard and unheard.

Thank you for creating the website. I found it while searching for any kind of support online. As socialworker222 pointed out, this is such an isolating and devastating experience.

TinselAngel · 09/09/2020 18:26

I'm really glad that it's helping women Thanks

I am so very, very happy that you have achieved this space for transwidows.

I too have never felt it my place to make comment. However, that doesn't mean I don't think about you all, you are often in my thoughts.

I hope you won't abandon mumsnet because it's important for us all to know. Had it not been for this thread I would never have known about transwidows. Flowers Flowers

Wow, those stories. I’m so glad women in this situation can read them and know they’re not alone. I can’t imagine how isolating it must be. 💐

PurpleHoodie · 21/09/2020 16:05

Nothing constructive to add.

Just wanted to send Flowers Brew to you Tinsel.
