New Transwidows website: Trans Widows Voices

I'm really pleased to be able to finally launch this new website:

www.transwidowsvoices.org/

Some of you were kind enough to deploy your spades to enable its creation. All of the funding has been provided by feminists such as yourselves.

This is a site owned by trans widows where women will be able to tell their stories. There is a huge need for this to counter the one sided "stunning and brave" narrative that is the only story told by the media.

There are four stories on the site so far and more stories will be added as we receive them. We also hope there will be some exciting guest blogs.

I think I can risk speaking for all the trans widows here when I say, thank you so much to @MNHQ for continuing to have us and to and all FWR supporters for enabling us to get this far. Smile

Thanks for sharing that Tinsel, so important to keep talking about this.

TinselAngel · 15/01/2021 21:47

Oh I'm glad this has been bumped as I was just looking at some stats for the website and I thought you lovely FWR women might be interested to know that since launching the website less than a year ago, it has had over 30,000 visits!

It's viewed in many different countries- it seems quite popular in Russia - which on one hand is quite surprising but on the other hand, possibly isn't.

That's shattering to read Tinsel

It's appalling that there are those who want to hide and deny that women are experiencing abuse like this, on the ground that the male person's needs are too sensitive for people to be allowed to talk about or look at the harm to the female partner that are part of it.

Why are females second class humans in this situation?

socialworker222 · 15/01/2021 21:55

Wow those numbers are amazing. So good to hear people are finding it. What great work well done Flowers

Stealhsquirrelnutkin · 15/01/2021 22:08

Excellent work Tinsel, the stories are so heart rending, it's shocking that they are not being more widely reported. Women's voices just don't seem to be heard, or broadcast.

Really pleased to be able to share this collaboration between Trans Widows’ Voices and Donovan Cleckley for Women are Human.

That's a great piece, really interesting & I think deals with the subject in a very calm clear way. 👍

I’m pleased to announce that Trans Widows’ Voices have been invited to contribute to an oral evidence session of the current Women and Equalities Select Committee enquiry into the Gender Recognition Act. However as it would not be possible to protect our identities we will contributing by way of written Q&A.

And I've just realised I never updated this thread with the committee evidence, which is here:

I'm glad you posted that, I thought we wouldn't get to see it until the W & EC uploaded. The trans lobby have been one step ahead all along. The use of language to demonise, never stops taking me aback. This 'veto' word has been taken on board by so many It's time this committee recognised its obligations. The Government need to take some action. It's always a bit gut wrenching to read this stuff. I am ready to kick up a stink if this sh*t show of a committee doesn't produce something fair and measured.

It is clear how little they are prepared to understand transwidows by their lack of empathy at the need for a private session. However, if the translobby had wanted this - no issues I'll bet

TinselAngel · 20/07/2021 19:22

That is the committee upload.

When assessing who is most vulnerable when contributing to this debate, we would invite the committee to contrast who has been able to publically contribute and who has not

Bloody well said.

That was such a painful read. Poor woman. What an absolute mess that situation must have made of her head. The word gaslighting is sometimes overused, but when I read stories like hers, I am reminded of the original movie and the malice and intent of the gaslighter.
