Suzanne Moore - naming and shaming

Suzanne Moore is naming and shaming her Guardian colleagues/friends who signed the letter condemning her column. She’s obviously feeling completely betrayed but I’m worried this is going to backfire for her. Tell you what - massive balls though.

OP posts:

Journalists objecting to their employer publishing an article they dnn't like.
At the newspaper that broke the Snowden story.

What to say?
If the names I recognise are anything to go by, they can't even plead youth.

And that's without touching on the personal betrayal Suzanne Moore must be feeling.

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 19/03/2020 08:36

Brave woman.

Languishingfemale · 19/03/2020 08:43

I see she's promising more names. Good for her. It's important that we know which journalists believe in silencing opinions that they don'`t like as it calls into question their credibility.

Absolutely. It's hardly a free press when people are conducting secret witch hunts against their fellow journalists. I would never sign anything like that unless I would be willing to say it publicly, neither should they.

stillathing · 19/03/2020 09:04

I liked Eva Wiseman. But she's no Suzanne Moore.

BovaryX · 19/03/2020 09:40

It's not about trans issues, it's about freedom of speech

Good on Suzanne Moore for publicly calling out her denouncers. Owen Jones. Eva Wiseman. What a surprise. Not. They and 322 other alleged journalists don't believe in freedom of speech, diversity of opinion or that journalists should report news. They believe in an authoritarian pandering to the #no debate squad. The Guardian is no longer a newspaper. It's a propaganda outlet for aging activists.

BovaryX · 19/03/2020 09:46

This cartoon posted by Suzanne Moore pretty much sums up the new zealoys and their hunt for heretics...

BovaryX · 19/03/2020 09:46

Zealots not zealoys....

Horseradishfemish · 19/03/2020 09:47

... simon hattenstone! that saddens me...

Me to. The world has turned to shit.

It's been a long time since that newspaper had any of my money.

Horseradishfemish · 19/03/2020 09:49

Why isn't the "transwoman" who resigned named?

Is it a secret?

The Guardian recently gave Moore space in its online pages to publish a column which failed to fit precisely into today's leftist orthodoxies on trans. You might have thought that when it came to the question of whether or not our society should drug some children and give them a mastectomy for 18th birthday, there might still be room for discussion. Well, not at the Guardian

Another epic nail on head quote from Douglas Murray.

BovaryX · 19/03/2020 10:15

Douglas Murray says this about the transmission of this craven petition. Good for Suzanne Moore for exposing the shenanigans of these alleged journalists to the cold light of day.

In typical neo Stasi fashion, the petition was 'leaked' to a left-wing clickbait site whose otherwise unemployable LGBT editor did his bit to whip the storm along

Al1Langdownthecleghole · 19/03/2020 10:31

Good on Suzanne for this. Am especially interested in those coming out in support. Good for them.

Lamahaha · 19/03/2020 10:48

Fabulous. These people will end up with lots of rotten egg on their face, once the tide has turned.

lionheart · 19/03/2020 11:12

Good for her.

Lordfrontpaw · 19/03/2020 11:13

I saw this - good for her. I hope the weasels enjoy their infamy.

littlbrowndog · 19/03/2020 11:19

💪💪💪💪Suzanne. The cowards can go to the far side where cowards gathere secretly. Now we can se3 the cowards

RoyalCorgi · 19/03/2020 11:25

Katharine Viner's response has been disappointing too. I completely agree with Murray that she should have told all those nasty little cowards to fuck off and find jobs elsewhere. I wonder how many editors would want to employ journalists who had betrayed a colleague like that?

I've often defended the Guardian on here when others have attacked it. I still think much of the work it does is really valuable. But I find it increasingly difficult to justify buying it. I gave up reading Owen Jones long ago, but I no longer want to read people like Simon Hattenstone and Luke Harding. Why should a paper that employs such nasty, weaselly little shits get my money?

Justhadathought · 19/03/2020 11:27

I'm surprised by Nick Cohen......not so much any of the others.

RoyalCorgi · 19/03/2020 11:32

Is Nick Cohen on the list? I thought he was supporting Suzanne.

Did anyone else see this tweet from Simon Edge to Suzanne:

'Suzanne, one of your bullies (guess which) came to the LGB Alliance with his 'journalist' hat on but backed off when he was only offered one of the two females founders to talk to, rather than a celebrity man. If you follow me back I can DM you the full story.'

Disgusting Misogynist Turns Out To Be Misogynist Shock

Floisme · 19/03/2020 11:47

I've not seen Nick Cohen's name and she was bantering with him last night before I went to bed and it all kicked off. At least I thought it was banter....

Cuntysnark · 19/03/2020 11:58

India Knight is supporting her on twitter. I’m so happy.

AnotherLass · 19/03/2020 12:05

While a part of me applauds this, it also makes me nervous as I'm sure that some TRAs will use it as a justification for doing the same thing to GC people who have written and signed things after having been assured of anonymity.

Of course it isn't the same, but they'll say it is
