Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Controversial networks (considered by some to be "cults") mumsnet readers need to be aware of

hoodathunkit · 15/03/2020 07:08

This is going to be a very long thread and posting it is very overdue

The word "cult" is quite loaded and obviously one person's religious movement or psychotherapy / life coaching / wellness organisation is another person's cult.

Sometimes cultic dynamics arise in family and extended family groups also, so the word "cult" can be a loaded and problematic one.

There is a lot I need to share here, this is made more urgent by the fact that, while I train hard and am fairly healthy, I do have underlying health problems that mean there is a chance I may not survive the comming storm.

I am somewhat dyslexic and have always struggled with spelling. I am pushed for time and do not trust spelling / grammar apps on my computer so I hope readers will forgive my occasional typos, spelling mistakes and grammatical errors.

I will be doing this in small, digestible posts for ease of reading.

I would say "enjoy!" but what I am about to share is not remotely enjoyable. This is going to be a thread of horrifying, dark, twisty rabbit holes with many network links to material other posters here have shared.

More to follow shortly

The following report is also interesting

How I was drawn to life in a cult

From the Bradford Telegraph & Argus

First published Tuesday 16th Feb 1999

archive.thisisbradford.co.uk/1999/02/16/166172.html

With her hair pulled back in a bun, her full-skirt and blouse, Helen
Gilmour looks every inch a sensible, middle-aged woman. It is hard to
believe that she once gave up a promising career to join a cult whose
members dressed in Victorian crinolines, and hosted dormitory romps for women dressed as schoolgirls. Now she gives advice on cults to people in the Bradford area.

Thirty to 40 people braved the fierce 110-degree temperatures on Sunday, June 25, to support Cousin Kate and the Lesbian and Gay Psychotherapy Association in the second concert and first fundraiser held at the newly-opened SunMoon Retreat Center on Cheney Drive. The event was one of several throughout 2017 to mark the 25th anniversary of LAGPA, an LA-based organization for LGBT psychotherapists and allies that serves the gay community.

Mary Guillermin, owner and host, said, “The sun blazed all day and it was very warm even under the oaks in the Sun Temple, but we alternated between enjoying the concert and escaping into the cool indoors to get refreshments and enjoy my SunMoon card readings.”

Guillermin will be hosting regular Full Moon Gatherings for women beginning on the actual night of the full moon. Details can be found on Meetup.comalong with her new group, “WonderWoman’s Island Society Recreated.”

Guillermin’s ambition is to host other events such as art shows and offers the use of the Sun Temple free to interested artists.

To contact Guillermin: (310) 422-7915; or [email protected]. For more information about Cousin Kate: cousinkate.com; and the work of LAGPA: lagpa.org.

She is also significantly invovled in a psychotherapy organisation that has a UK presence, the Pellin Institute, UK

"SunMoon Archetype Healing: A New Paradigm”

Mary also hosts a Pellin Coaching: LA training course at the Retreat Center, which she co-founded with Peter Fleming, Director of the Pellin Institute, UK.

She is also involved in what appears to be some dodgy get rich quick project (could not get these links to save in the way back machine - but have saved them in the archive - I would suggest that readers do not click on links as they will take you directly to the site)

apologies, clarification, do not click on links within my last 2 links, they will take you away from the archive.is site and onto a possibly / probably dodgy website

OP I get it. This is relevant.

Thank you so much and bless you heart MayMoss

I am extremely used to being gaslighted and I have grown fairly resiliant but it is quite stressful given my current, already very stressful situation to be on the receiving end of gaslighting posts here

Please, please save as much as you can in case this thread gets reported and deleted.

There are some erriously interesting connections and grooming processes going on in relation to this network

I could write a book about the Stepford Wives style grooming promoted by this cult.

I was going to do so but now is not the time for delaying. I do not know how much time I have, fingers crossed I'll be OK but I cannot make assumptions thus sharing so please forgive the sprawling, possibly incoherent tone, just getting it out there in the hope that allies and thinkers will make use of the data, some of which may disappear so take screen shots, archive and think, always think :)

With all due respect, do you have involvement with mental health services? I would maybe check in with your CPN if you have one, GP or crisis team.

Now that's not very hepful is it?

Are you a mental health professional by any chance?

OP posts:
Qcng · 15/03/2020 10:22

Yeah there are some messed up people in the world.

I think linking gender ideology capture to one specific group or person is a mistake.

It's sort of basically something that has grown from modern ideas of gender and identity, which in my opinion began in Northern America, then it's little brother the UK (sarcasm), and has taken hold of the Anglosphere in it's guilt-ridden desire to be more "accepting" and "inclusive".

All organisations that began as feminist have been taken by the ideology, eg the women's institute, lesbian cults in Ireland, Marks and Sparks, and basically all political parties even non-feminist ones.

You can't really pin point any cause.

I think linking gender ideology capture to one specific group or person is a mistake.

I agree 100%

I am not claiming that this particular network is the sole root of all the current insanity

They are simply one root of the tree, an important root nonetheless, not least because their beliefs contain nodes and connections to various other groups active currently, especially re sex cults and goddess cults.

Also their various websites provide a gold mine of gender related insanity and information about sexual grooming and bait and switch

Have to go and do some chores now but will post some more later :)

This excentric nonesense is what transgenderism would be without regulatory capture imo.

Quite how and who is behind turning this crazyness in to public policy and law is a mystery.

OneEpisode · 15/03/2020 11:00

OP you can report your own post if you’ve posted links you now regret. Mumsnet can edit sometimes but are very ready to delete a post. You can repost without the links.

I find cults very interesting. “panacea” is one founded by women. It starts with an established religion (Anglican Christianity) and with principals like respect and care, and ended in abuse. They moved to Bedford. They told followers that the garden of Eden was close to a decent Debenhams. To encourage them to commit to the cult.

HorseWithNoLang · 15/03/2020 11:13

Why are some posters not pleased that this is being raised/discussed?

If they don't like it can't they just fuck off?

I find it interesting - should I go and see a fucking psychiatrist?

bingbangbing · 15/03/2020 11:23

@HorseWithNoLang

That's not the point.

The OP sounds very unwell.

I second @Mlou32

HorseWithNoLang · 15/03/2020 11:41

Ah, sorry.

OneEpisode · 15/03/2020 11:41

The OP says, in their OP, that they are unwell. They have offered us some content, for free, which we can choose to read, or not.
OP, get well soon. I liked your posting style.

I think you are just advising not to click on links within the links?

hoodathunkit · 15/03/2020 12:07

bingbangbing

In what way exactly do you think I am unwell?

other posters here understand and appreciate my concerns

can you please be specific about why you think I am unwell?

Do you mean mentally unwell? are you a mental health professional?

OP posts:
hoodathunkit · 15/03/2020 12:11

I think you are just advising not to click on links within the links?

exactly

usually, but not always, links within the way back machine at archive.org will take you to another page on the way back machine

links on the archive at archive.is will take you to the (possibly dodgy) website

one thing you can do if on the archive.is is to right click on the link so that it gives you a drop down menu

then select "copy linnked address"

then enter that link into archive.is

then remove the archive prefix and save again

Thank you for this post, much appreciated Flowers

I always expect gaslighting when posting about tese kinds of issues, but I seem to have hit a nerve here

I would appreciate some specific details about why exactly some posters here want to dismiss me as mentally unwell

OP posts:
