Thanks Floisme the thing is that a person came into an online space I have used for over a decade, and specifically asked the question "so you are saying I shouldn't be able to use the ladies" and I replied to that question with a fairly plain but honest answer (yes I am saying that because -CENSORED-)
I just answered the question!
I don't think I'm really able to edit myself in the way the women at MNHQ expect the women on the feminism forum on a parenting forum populated by mainly women expect me to.
Talk guidelines say no personal attacks, no trolling, no goadyness. And apparently no truth or honesty.
I'm pissed off. I better not post. Congrats TRA overlords. I'll be off in the real world telling everyone I can think of about rapists in women's prisons.

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 17/02/2020 19:54

Julia Long is amazing. It needs these kind of questions to point out exactly the consequences to the people who ask women to be "kind".

It's such an bizarre attitude that women are merely there to provide the scenery for a man's inner feels.

Labour Leadership Debate on C4 at 8.00

I'll be watching the football.

TheElementsOdeToJoy · 17/02/2020 19:56

Also to the lurkers: Which do you think is "shocking" literal violence against the vulnerable - a woman "smirking" to a camera, or rapists housed in the female estate?

Floisme · 17/02/2020 20:01

IfNot Flowers

SophocIestheFox · 17/02/2020 20:02

i’m going to hop, skip and jump over the irrelevance of sainsbury’s toilet accommodation and what people’s friends think of Dr Long’s shocking and frankly criminal inability to keep a straight face while helping a would be leader of the opposition make a total banana of herself, and leap back to:

the top echelons of the Labour Party are so dim, cowed or credulous that they are pretending, or worse still, actually believe that biology doesn’t exist and the preferences of male rapists are of greater importance than women’s safety.

madness.

AyeRobot · 17/02/2020 20:05

How does Nandy (or anyone else who is not immediately appalled by her stance) square her belief that rapists should be in women's prisons?

AyeRobot · 17/02/2020 20:09

Seriously, anyone who wants (anyone) to be where they are not wanted, has a massive red flag waving over their head. I know that some involved love that, but I can't imagine Nandy gets a kick out of it?

Awning10 · 17/02/2020 20:21

Watch now... trans question being asked...

FactsAreNotMean · 17/02/2020 20:22

Does the trans rights issue potentially lead to division and alienation of female voters....debate question just asked

DeRigueurMortis · 17/02/2020 20:23

She's clearly not heard about Karen White....

FactsAreNotMean · 17/02/2020 20:23

"Is it transphobic to want safe spaces for women which exclude transwomen with male genitalia"

theflushedzebra · 17/02/2020 20:24

Brace yourselves women - C4 is currently airing plans for your erasure.

FactsAreNotMean · 17/02/2020 20:24

Krishnan (sp?) nailed that question, but nandy is waffling

Lordfrontpaw · 17/02/2020 20:25

We are on 4+1 - should turn over?

FactsAreNotMean · 17/02/2020 20:27

Long Bailey - there is no incompatibility with trying to stand up for the rights of women...no plans to change equalities act...Long and dehumanising process to be recognised...change grc

Starmer - trans people have received abuse and vilification, need to go further than GRC but we won't make progress is we treat this as a political football. Need to grow up and have a proper debate.

Was there anything wrong with other pledge (asked to Starmer) - this is a very serious issue with a community that needs better protection.

KGM is like a dog with a bone.

Minimal discussion about women's rights, it's all about trans rights.

FactsAreNotMean · 17/02/2020 20:29

It'll be on 4+1 in an hour, presumably

Audience...
"I believe that safe spaces for women are really important...taken away from woman...risk of less reporting of domestic abuse"
"As a labour party member I would like clarity from Keir as to why he didn't sign the pledge"

Lordfrontpaw · 17/02/2020 20:33

I meant change to something else. I have a migraine coming on and might vomit.

AyeRobot · 17/02/2020 20:35

Abuse & vilification? What does he have in mind when he says that?

R0wantrees · 17/02/2020 20:35

2015 Written evidence to parliamentary Transgender Equality Inquiry by Dr James Barrett President of the British Association of Gender Identity Specialists.

(extract)
"The converse is the ever-increasing tide of referrals of patients in prison serving long or indeterminate sentences for serious sexual offences. These vastly outnumber the number of prisoners incarcerated for more ordinary, non-sexual, offences. It has been rather naïvely suggested that nobody would seek to pretend transsexual status in prison if this were not actually the case. There are, to those of us who actually interview the prisoners, in fact very many reasons why people might pretend this. These vary from the opportunity to have trips out of prison through to a desire for a transfer to the female estate (to the same prison as a co-defendant) through to the idea that a parole board will perceive somebody who is female as being less dangerous through to a [false] belief that hormone treatment will actually render one less dangerous through to wanting a special or protected status within the prison system and even (in one very well evidenced case that a highly concerned Prison Governor brought particularly to my attention) a plethora of prison intelligence information suggesting that the driving force was a desire to make subsequent sexual offending very much easier, females being generally perceived as low risk in this regard. I am sure that the Governor concerned would be happy to talk about this."(continues)

FactsAreNotMean · 17/02/2020 20:35

TBH it sounded a bit like they'd realised it was a fucking minefield so they were all parroting the "take the heat out, important debate, trans rights important" kind of line. Sounded to me like they might have discussed in advance...

AyeRobot · 17/02/2020 20:40

I mean, any female once they get breasts gets abuse and vilification, even if they are 11 years old. It hasn't led to any policy change, though, especially at the expense of others.

wellbehavedwomen · 17/02/2020 21:00

@RobinMoiraWhite

You say you want a discussion, and compromise, so can we start from: what areas do you agree should be single sex? What provision do you regard as legitimate, in terms of women having accommodations by sex, and not gender identity? You've made your criticisms of GC positions clear, but you have not clarified when, if ever, you do feel there are reasonable exemptions? What might those be, to your mind?

wellbehavedwomen · 17/02/2020 21:03

@AyeRobot nobody gives a shit about women. This is not news, but the open, casual way it's now tacitly admitted is a bit shocking, all the same, isn't it. Rape pretty well decriminalised, and hardly a peep on that at all.
