Just saw this on Twitter. Should be interesting...

Graham Lineham on Newsnight tonight!

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 10/02/2020 22:03

Gosh, the BBC are really spoiling us tonight!

Amalfimamma · 10/02/2020 22:07

All the more qualified women must be busy

Glinner. Silencing women one media outlet at a time

Qcng · 10/02/2020 22:18

Wtf Amal don't be a dick.

Glinner has an extraordinarily high profile. Has worked with loads of people at the BBC.
The fact he's talking about it reaches a huge audience and gives the message serious gravitas. I can't see anything to whine about.

Grin Genuine laugh out loud at that.
SoldiersinPetticoats · 10/02/2020 22:20

The more voices talking about this publicly, the better imo. Hurrah for Glinner.

ScapaFlo · 10/02/2020 22:22

I hear you, Amalfi, but needs must when the Devil drives

DeeZastris · 10/02/2020 22:22

Put down the crack pipe Amal

Oh no, is there a woman they were going to invite on to speak about this if only Glinner hadn't elbowed her out of the way?

Or is this Newsnight story perhaps a result of the article he wrote?

It's fantastic that he's raising awareness of this issue, I don't care what personal beefs you have with him, surely you can see that this Newsnight story is a good thing. He's not speaking over any women by telling his own story.

Amalfimamma · 10/02/2020 22:25

Wtf Amal don't be a dick.

I didn't realise that stating an opinion on a man who I've had more than one run in with made me "a dick"

Glinner has an extraordinarily high profile.

As do others.......

Has worked with loads of people at the BBC.
As have others

The fact he's talking about it reaches a huge audience and gives the message serious gravitas.

Moreao than women who've been exposing it for years? Should we go back to the kitchen to make tea?

I can't see anything to whine about.

Giving an opinion is now "whining"?

You love misognistic language when talking to feminists don't you? I wouldn't like to have you on a jur during a rape trial......

Amalfimamma · 10/02/2020 22:27

Put down the crack pipe Amal

Wow............ Well done. Give yourself a big pat on the back for that one.

AnotherLass · 10/02/2020 22:27

This is fantastic! Go glinner.

Incidentally, re the thread that was deleted on glinner - he has this evening apologised on twitter for the way he reacted on the Count Dankula case. So there was a happy ending to that argument. Knew he was a good un.

RaveOnThisCrazyFeeling · 10/02/2020 22:29

Thanks OP for the heads up!

(It's Linehan, though)

AnyOldSpartabix · 10/02/2020 22:31

On the BBC?

That’s good news. I hope he manages to get some good points across.

HandsOffMyLangCleg · 10/02/2020 22:32

Excellent. Tuned in.
Thanks Graham.

Melroses · 10/02/2020 22:35

Yes I saw that - Joanie Walsh called him out good and proper. Glad he listened.

Funny Grin

I agree with you regarding the whining comment, someone stating their opinion isn’t whining

Although if thats how we are playing the game now im quite happy to join in...

I have just watched Mary Beard turning woke and a very strange drama with a cross-dresser who reminded me of someone. This had better be good.

CoolCarrie · 10/02/2020 22:38

I just came on here to mention this interview, will be watching with interest.

WeetabixBananaHipsterFFS · 10/02/2020 22:39

Hang your head in shame, Glinner, you irredeemable misogynist Grin

DoctorTwo · 10/02/2020 22:47

Go @Glinner.

StillWeRise · 10/02/2020 22:48

yeah, wahat was that with Mary Beard and 'people assigned a gender at birth'
she's better than that

RaveOnThisCrazyFeeling · 10/02/2020 22:49

I really hope he emphasises the facts that 1. changing the legal definition of 'woman' has implications we should be able to talk about, and

  1. that as a disadvantaged and underrepresented class, the half of the population born with female reproductive systems need a word that describes them, and if it's no longer 'women' or 'female'n what is it?

I hope it's not all about grifters and opportunists abusing laws intended for trans people. Glinner does tend to emphasise that aspect which is good, but I think people need to be challenged to rhjnk about the ideology as a whole, and not just fears of not-really-trans baddies in the gender neutral bathrooms.
