“Actress Jameela Jamil formally came out as queer Wednesday in response to critics who attacked her role in a new HBO Max competition series, claiming her judging a voguing show wouldn't be representative of the black LGBTQ community in which voguing originated.”

And it seems the community are doubting her motivations, with IW questioning if she is in fact queer as she has a boyfriend (linked below), who then comes under fire themselves for bisexual, pansexual, etc. ‘erasure’.

I had to look up ‘queer’ to understand how Jameela was applying that label, so looked up PinkNews. Not terribly helpful but in essence “queer has become a useful umbrella term for some sexual and gender minorities who do not fit into the traditional categories around gender identity and sexual orientation.”
From Twitter I read it as “It’s usually an umbrella term for LGBT+ when someone doesn't want to disclose their sexuality/can't identify with a singular label but knows they aren't straight.”

I was also interested to learn the origin of vogue “Many felt that despite Jamil's comments, her place as a judge was inappropriate as voguing has its roots in the LGBTQ community. I am saddened that Jameela as a woman of colour has to take a third label to qualify for being a judge, and it seems a turf war could be breaking out.
Could this be the start of the backlash within the LGBTQI+ as the umbrella is now so vast, virtually all of us stand under it?

Dear god, I know enough people who have actually had real proper cancer and bone have warbled ‘I’m a survivor don’t ya know!’.

Hell, even I’ve have a massive boob lump (non cancerous thank goodness) extracted with (what felt like) a spikey ice cream scoop (by a cross eyed surgeon - that’s a whole other story, he was lovely but I was slightly perturbed at the time although high as a kite).

Methinks someone is a bit of a drama queen.

So do I believe that Jameela has had a series of serious health issues or has an agent telling her to make as much shit up as possible and to make sure she gets on the next passing bandwagon?

20% of women have said they have been sexually assaulted

I would have thought that number was closer to 100% myself, depressing, but thats how it seems. I do not seem to have even one female friend who has not been sexually assaulted (or worse..) and I know many women. 20% would be a huge improvement from how it is now, for me and people I know anyway.

I ended up in a JJ rabbit hole looking up some of those inconsistencies and discovered her attending an event the day after having teeth out with a bag of peas on her face 🙄. A couple of days later she was apparently on an IV drip and suffering from gastritis.

Regarding the deafness, she apparently had 70% hearing loss in one ear and 50% in the other.

She said in a tweet she had had breast reduction surgery but never seems to have mentioned it anywhere else ever, and it's at odds with a tumblr blog post she wrote about her breasts. She's also very anti cosmetic surgery.

I think there's a lot going on with her and it doesn't seem very healthy.

I still think she jumped on the queer bandwagon as it was an easy solution to the criticism she was facing and it seems she's doesn't have a problem with embellishing the truth somewhat.

As long as she's still getting roasted for being a raging hypocrite by the glitter family she shat all over women for, I don't much care what bullshit she has or hasn't said.

This is the huge problem with self ID. She's been turned on- horrendously, by those she been supporting for years- because she can't prove she is queer. Whole point of self ID and the 90+ made up genders is that you so t need to. So make up your bloody minds. Either she is what she says she is.......or you all have to accept that self ID is a crock of shit and you are born male or female and remain so.

Playboy is one of those things that has a sort of oddly positive reputation, it's not at all unusual - at least in the past - for some pretty well known celebrities to appear in it or be interviewed. Do they even have a print version now? I think online porn has really hurt their business.

Just once I’d like to see one of there celebs who seem to think that they have unlimited talent to do whatever they want be giver actual free rein. She can't see a way for women to define themselves for themselves, so she's still working within the male value of 'women need to be fuckable at all times no matter what else they do in their lives and this should be given utmost importance.'
