Can we work together to create a question that includes as many key points as possible, so that we don't get locked out of the discussion as we did on the Jess Phillips one?

Jess ignored my "what is your definition of woman?" question, I don't know if KS would dare answer it either.

OP posts:
Thelnebriati · 31/01/2020 17:04

We should probably make a note of it for future webchats Grin

ScrimshawTheSecond · 31/01/2020 17:05

MN have nixed any more sex/gender questions already.

RuffleCrow · 31/01/2020 17:06

I'm pissed off about this. How can a man as intelligent and experienced as KS not be gender critical? Angry

I know it makesa very small and very powerful group of people very angry to be reminded of basic biology but come on Keir, politicians claim to be able protect us from flipping islamic state. How are they not able to deal with a few crackpot biology deniers and their sacks of dirty money?

ScrimshawTheSecond · 31/01/2020 17:09

Do you think politicians know how many people desperately want clear, logical answers on these questions? And how many people are not willing to raise the matter under their real names for pretty obvious reasons?

Qcng · 31/01/2020 17:15

Maybe use Jennifer James's impending courtcase to specifically ask,
Keir, what do you think about a member of the Labour Party, Jennifer James, taking labour to court for allowing people born male into women only shortlists, which were set up specifically to encourage women into politics?
What do you think about that?

Newuser123123 · 31/01/2020 17:35

OK thanks, hope they use it x

EndoplasmicReticulum · 31/01/2020 17:55

Not sure about the "first come first served" system that seems to operate on these.

It's obvious from previous webchats that many mumsnet users have many questions about this topic. It's also clear that MNHQ want to limit the questions on this topic - so are only allowing the first few. So if you're not quick, you miss out.
Might there be a way for MNHQ to, for example, allow a range of sex / gender questions to be suggested, to then be voted on by users to select which few are put foward for the webchat? If you see what I mean. The technology exists for voting as shown on AIBU.
Not that this gives any guarantee that the webchatter will reply, of course.

Redshoeblueshoe · 31/01/2020 17:56

Endo that's an excellent suggestion.

Michelleoftheresistance · 31/01/2020 17:59

"How do you intend to provide continued access to public spaces for female tax payers who are unable to enter or use a space where biologically males are present regardless of how the male may identify or what legal certificates they may hold?"

"How do you intend to deal with the inevitable homophobic, racist, disablist and sexist discrimination that people will experience as a result of insisting that gender identity has been declared superior to all other protected characteristics?"

"Where was the mandate from the general public, particularly the 51% of the population who are female, to wholly remove sex based rights from said females? At what point were the public consulted on this massive fundamental change to their lives? Where are the impact assessments used?"

In fact you can demand all that of Boris too.

Michelleoftheresistance · 31/01/2020 18:01

Endo, voting on the best question/s is a great idea.

DuLANGMondeFOREVER · 31/01/2020 19:15

I would go for a questions about the rise in adolescent girls identifying as trans or about women’s sports or prisons, personally.

One that is less existential but cuts to the crux of it all

ScrimshawTheSecond · 31/01/2020 19:39

If we were voting on a question, I'd want it to be: why do you think this one topic is so important to mothers/women that dozens of us want to ask questions about it, and why do you think the mods feel rhey need to control how many times we are allowed to mention it?

Dolorabelle · 31/01/2020 20:33

Can we send a picture of Alex Drummond and ask if she should be in Women’s changing rooms or win women’s awards?

Or Danielle Muscato telling women who don't think of Danielle as a woman to "suck my dick"

Dolorabelle · 31/01/2020 20:34

I might repeat my question about academic freedom.

Lordfrontpaw · 31/01/2020 20:34

Or ask why boundaries being ‘pushed/challenged’ are never the biological sex of those doing the pushing /challenging?

justcly · 01/02/2020 01:49

@RuffleCrow

The thing is, if you look at his legal career, Starmer is very comfortable supporting minorities. The issue with trans women, is that they have positioned themselves as an oppressed minority when, if you consider biology rather than gender, that position is questionable. I wonder if Keir really has drunk the kool aid, or if he is just politically cowardly careful.

terfsandwich · 01/02/2020 02:04

I think that a question he can't obfuscate his way out of is:
"Do you agree with the idea that single sex spaces are transphobic?"

AsCoolAsLangCleg · 01/02/2020 02:18

I note you are not a signatory to the Labour Women's Declaration (below). Could you explain what aspects of it you disagree with?

We are signing this declaration in a personal capacity. We are Labour Party supporters, members, activists, trade unionists and include nationally and locally elected representatives and officers.
The Labour Party and trades union movement has a proud history of struggle against the exploitation of women. It has stood for the rights of women in work and public life and for the safeguarding of girls. We, the undersigned, declare that:

  1. Women and girls are subject to discrimination and oppression on the basis of their sex.
  2. Women have the right to freedom of belief, freedom of expression and freedom of assembly (Articles 18, 19 and 20 of the UN Declaration of Human Rights).
  3. Women have the right to discuss policies which affect them, without being abused, harassed or intimidated.
  4. Women have the right to maintain their sex-based protections, as set out in the Equality Act 2010. These include female-only spaces such as changing rooms, hospital wards, sanitary and sleeping accommodation, refuges, hostels and prisons.
  5. Women have the right to participate in single-sex sports, to ensure fairness and safety at all levels of competition.
  6. Women have the right to organise themselves, as a sex, across a range of cultural, leisure, educational and political activities.
  7. We condemn all attempts to undermine or limit the rights of women to self-organise and call on the Labour Party and the trades union movement to actively support these essential freedoms.
RuffleCrow · 01/02/2020 08:25

I know @justcly, it's a mystery wrapped in an enigma.

i think he should have to change his name until he can come out in support of women's rights. Let's see how he fares as plain old Kevin Starmer for the next 3 months. His namesake was an unequivocal suffragist and general Big Fan of Women, at a time when most men were laughing their arses off at the idea of female emancipation. He can earn his name back as far as i'm concerned.

Langbannedforsafeguardingkids · 01/02/2020 14:40

if female-only single sex spaces are changed to allow males in, do you agree there should be a requirement to notify all users of this change to mixed-sex in advance, as well as after the event

I like this one - but I'd add -

not knowing the true status (single sex or mixed sex) prevents parents from effectively safeguarding their children. E.g. a single Dad with a daughter above the age where he thinks it is ok to bring her into the mens . He may be willing to allow her to use single sex female toilets and changing rooms alone but is unlikely to feel comfortable if they are mixed sex and he is not there (and if they are mixed sex for some biological males it seems active discrimination to deny him the knowledge that he can enter)

JellySlice · 03/02/2020 07:10

I posted on the webchat thread, stating that we could not ask any more questions on women's rights, but that I wanted to let him (Keir) know I was very interested in his answers, as this was the issue that would dictate my vote.

My post appears to have disappeared. Completely. Not 'This post has been removed because it breaks guidelines.' No email to me, either.

I'm on the app. It can be tricky to find posts on the app, so I hope I've just missed it, but, if not Angry

Lordfrontpaw · 03/02/2020 07:34

Screenshot and send to his PA.

Whatisthisfuckery · 03/02/2020 07:57

There’s no bloody point anyway.MNHQ said there was to be no more questions on the topic women on this board are most concerned about about 3.6 seconds after announcing the web chat.

OldCrone · 03/02/2020 08:04

My post appears to have disappeared. Completely. Not 'This post has been removed because it breaks guidelines.' No email to me, either.

This happened on the Jess Phillips webchat. Women on mumsnet are not supposed to show too much interest in women's rights. The emails on the other webchat turned up several hours after the deletion.

Lordfrontpaw · 03/02/2020 08:05

Don’t get a ban, people!
