Why did the quoted post from Spinster get deleted? What’s the rules on that? Because it’s discussing the discussion here?

It’s a shame, because it was pretty polite and not at all badmouthing, and made it clear Lang was not going to keep dragging it up, which is really quite supportive of MNHQ, in a way!

SapphosRock · 23/01/2020 14:47

Horse Oh gosh! Well I guess it's farewell then. Been nice chatting to y'all....

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 23/01/2020 14:48

But to get back to the thread...

Yay R0 and thebewilderness being back!

HorseWithNoLangCleg · 23/01/2020 14:49

Good post, Barracker.

R0wantrees · 23/01/2020 14:49

I'm sure if you are on the side of Lang it comes across fine, but for an 'outsider' to read it and know it is directed at them, it must come across as hateful.

for context (which I think always important)
this was posted Fri 12-Oct-18 when the dictionary definition of woman eg adult human female was shone onto various London landmarks.

This was a few months after the instruction, "Repeat after us: Trans Women are Women" had been shone onto The Ministry of Justice

(the comment wasnt deleted despite report/s)

HorseWithNoLangCleg · 23/01/2020 14:50

I'd like to see or hear a little more context for that screenshot about Lang.

Anyone?

HorseWithNoLangCleg · 23/01/2020 14:51

Ah! Thank you RO..

littlbrowndog · 23/01/2020 14:51

Barracker awesome as ever

In my life now sometimes I just say in my head. What would Lang do ?

She was a real changing influence on me. Gawd I so fucking miss her.

littlbrowndog · 23/01/2020 14:52

Rowan back 💪💪💪😎🎉

The reindeer back 💪💪🎉

littlbrowndog · 23/01/2020 14:54

Lang such a great educator. Never wrote piles of blah blah word salad

😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😭😭😭

CuriousaboutSamphire · 23/01/2020 14:55

fuck you fuckfaces' is one that springs to mind (which I saved and reported at the time) slightly stronger than robustly arguing. Erm...

That was the Posie illuminating buildings thread

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3392696--adulthumanfemale-in-London

Lang's comment was not aimed at anyone person, it was laughing at the tactic used to get the dictionary definition of woman seen by many, nor was it deleted!

Try again...

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 23/01/2020 14:55

Grin
CuriousaboutSamphire · 23/01/2020 14:56

Oops! Bit slow. I stopped to re-read that thread Grin

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 23/01/2020 14:56

Oh my god

That was to your post referencing me...not the crying one 😳

R0wantrees · 23/01/2020 14:57

In my life now sometimes I just say in my head. What would Lang do ?

Yes, WWLCD? you're not alone there littlbrowndog

Floisme · 23/01/2020 15:00

Nothing gets past R0wan Grin

littlbrowndog · 23/01/2020 15:00

Haha rufus. I knew what you meant.

SapphosRock · 23/01/2020 15:00

Hmmm well I guess if that wasn't deemed offensive enough to delete what on earth did the 60 that did get deleted say?!

If a trans woman posted a picture of herself in a female toilet with the caption 'fuck your fuckfaces' I very much doubt that would stay up here for long.

Floisme · 23/01/2020 15:01

Soz Curious - you too Smile'

littlbrowndog · 23/01/2020 15:03

lang was such an asset here. Mumsnet was so lucky to have her here

Wish they could see that

littlbrowndog · 23/01/2020 15:04

Jeez sapphos that wasntb directed at anyone. Look back up thread

Jeez

CuriousaboutSamphire · 23/01/2020 15:06
Smile

Sapphos Go read the thread that has been linked to! And then read the guidelines. This is not Netmums, we can fucking swear if we bollocky well want to!

I will say it again, maybe I will type it more slowly

That comment was not aimed at an individual person. That would have contravened the T+Cs and would have been deleted.

That comment was about an 'up yours' tactic used to get a supposed hate message - the dictionary definition of 'woman' - on the sides of buildings after TRAs had had billboards pulled. As such it was a 'laigh out loud with a few fucks thrown in' comment. and did not contravene the T+Cs.

So, Lang was laughing crudely, not being rude or aggressive to any other poster!

Her crime was that she wasn't being 'nice' enough! But MNHQ disgreed with those that reported it!

So... try again...

Floisme · 23/01/2020 15:06

We can assume you knew the context of that comment as you'd gone to the trouble if screenshotting it,and yet you described it as a 'personal insult' - the implication being that it was directed at someone else on the thread.

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 23/01/2020 15:10

Ro you star.

Now we have context I agree 100% with that statement.

R0wantrees · 23/01/2020 15:13

Outrage about women swearing on Mumsnet are nothing new Sapphos

2017 Independent article:
'Mumsnet: Advertisers 'raise fears over too much swearing' on internet forum
Top brands including National Trust and Confused.com reportedly concerned about their ads appearing next to posts containing 'offensive' swear words'

(extract)
[Justine] Roberts said:"We haven't been contacted by any advertisers with any concerns about swearing on Mumsnet and we have no plans to change our policy on allowing swearing on our forums. Mumsnet is after all a site for grown ups which people visit to get advice, support and sometimes to let off a bit of steam."
