Reuben adds: “I found it frustrating that people didn’t just ask my gender or not use it. I look like a man, have a beard.

Maybe the “giving birth” part rendered it pointless?

In what way is the baby the ‘non-binary partner’s? Did she donate the egg?

DerbyshireGirly · 29/12/2019 12:10

Despite being fairly stereotypically "girly", I never had this overwhelming "feeling like a woman" (as opposed to just a human who happened to have so-called feminine interests) until I became pregnant. I have no idea how these "trans men" can stand to go through pregnancy if they are so repulsed and distressed by being female. I don't think there is anything else which so strongly makes you aware of not being a man - your breasts growing and producing milk, your uterus expanding and you becoming very aware that there's a person living and moving inside of it, your brain rewiring and changing who you are...people only ever seeing the bump and therefore only seeing you as a mother...I thought any reminder of their born sex was enough to drive them to suicide?

MandalaYogaTapestry · 29/12/2019 12:12

This mother still looks like a woman with a beard, not like a man

DryHeave · 29/12/2019 12:12

Becoming a mother galvanised my feminism. I properly realised the oppression conferred on me by society because of my sex.

ginghamstarfish · 29/12/2019 12:14

WTAF? woman has baby by using sperm from a man, and this is news? What a bunch of attention seeking tossers.

Emmelina · 29/12/2019 12:16

So... woman living as man is pregnant via sperm donated by man living as woman?

BuffaloCauliflower · 29/12/2019 12:17

I’ve always been super pro gay couples parenting, Love is the main thing etc, but I genuinely think this is damaging for the child.

Giving birth ‘not female experience’? Fucking hell

SirVixofVixHall · 29/12/2019 12:17

“Keen not to be boxed in to Mum and Dad roles” ....
Lesbian couple have sweet baby using a sperm donor.

“Women struggle with their bodies when they go through pregnancy too, so it isn’t something a trans man would exclusively feel.”

I just... have no words.

Man and woman haveing a baby CONGRATULATIONS. Why wasn't that said in the first place. Why all the confusion? Female sperm ? Man haveing a baby really? I am just not shore why people want to put thing's like that in our minds. Getting pregnant and giving birth is a well known female experience. So is haveing multiple orgsams and making the bed wet. That is the best female experience I've ever had. I've got no tadpoles in my sperm.

Thatagain · 29/12/2019 13:14

I do feel a little sad that they classed the baby as a miracle baby. Why? Was she born at 26 weeks was the mother over the age of 47. I've been told that my son was a miracle, surviver as he was born at 29 week's with a blood count of 1 and he is fit and healthy that's more of a miracle I think. Do what you like just do not affend women who have had complacaitions during pregnancy and childbirth. Again congratulations on the SAFE arrival. No miracle their.

So let me get this straight

Reuben was born female and has a uterus (but identifies as a man now)
A man donated sperm (there is no such thing as ‘female sperm’ AFAIK

So actually it’s just man plus woman = baby?

golgiapparatus · 29/12/2019 13:24

I wish them all happiness.

Man and woman have a baby. The dawn of a new era.

IsadoraQuagmire · 29/12/2019 13:26

I do feel a little sad that they classed the baby as a miracle baby. Why?

Probably because it'll be a miracle if it doesn't need a lifetime of therapy...Hmm

I am genuinely sick to the back teeth of all this non binary, gender neutral bollocks.

MadamShazam · 29/12/2019 13:32

@Aaarrgghh I totally agree. 🙌

MrsSpenserGregson · 29/12/2019 13:33

I feel so sorry for the baby in this situation. Poor thing is going to be brought up with such a warped sense of "reality" Sad Sad and will no doubt end up with numerous issues of its own as a result

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 29/12/2019 13:37

Reuben adds: “I found it frustrating that people didn’t just ask my gender or not use it. I look like a man, have a beard.

Because that’s the most important thing in all this, eh! Not the fact that this female bodied person has a lovely healthy baby. Nice to know where their priorities lie. Hmm

Threadbaretoe · 29/12/2019 13:48

Without exception, everyone I know translates this type of communication.

Family members often check out meanings e.g 'transman, that's a female, right?'

With this article, people will translate the language and then think 'oh, just usual sexual reproduction' and then shades in between, 'what nonsense' and 'great that they are being inclusive and accommodating people's identity'.

I don't believe a single person thinks that anything different has occurred in the creation of this baby than has happened in the creation of any other baby.

I was just laughing at this, the world's gone mad 😂😂😂

BuffaloCauliflower · 29/12/2019 14:27

@T0tallyFuckedUpFamily I find that quote really quite horrifying. You’re not a man if you’re having a baby! It’s impossible. It’s seriously like 1984.

Jocasta2018 · 29/12/2019 14:27

Male-gendered biological female gives birth to baby fathered by female-gendered biological male.
Think that sums it up!
