If this is true, how many votes may selling women out have cost her?

OP posts:
Fozzleyplum · 13/12/2019 00:09

Fingers crossed that she does, for the sake of women and democracy.

AuntSpiker · 13/12/2019 00:15

Couldn’t have happened to a nicer... oh, what’s that word?

Shall we go with cis woman? Bearing in mind that's what she calls all of us. Will be absolutely delighted if she loses her seat.

VortexofBloggery · 13/12/2019 00:17

ITV are also predicting Swinson has lost her seat.

stumbledin · 13/12/2019 00:17

Much as I would like to think the campaign for women's sex based rights might lose Jo Swinson her seat, it will be far more to do with the predicted gains of the SNP.

The Labour losses announced so far (2 seats only saved for Labour because Brexit party split the vote) are about leaving Europe.

It is about people being alienated from a metropolitan elite Parliament isolated in London.

And only the Britsh could be so contrary as to think the person to save them from the insular London based, European looking Westminister bubble, is a man who is a total product of a multiracial SE England upbringing and entitledment.

DeeZastris · 13/12/2019 00:18

I do think this absolutely damaged the Lib Dem campaign. They are a pro remain party and Scotland (in general) wants to remain - she totally shot herself in the foot with this utter guff.

GCAcademic · 13/12/2019 00:29

Assuming she loses it will be interesting to see how much by. If it's only a slim margin, that can easily be attributed to pissed off women. I hope so. It would be poetic justice for her traitorous trampling of her own sex.

EwwSprouts · 13/12/2019 00:32

Exit poll suggests Sarah Wollaston unsuccessful in Totnes.

Raindrops17 · 13/12/2019 00:33

Couldn’t have happened to a nicer... oh, what’s that word?

Cis-woman. Because only TWAW.

AuntSpiker · 13/12/2019 00:36

Another traitor to women on Sky currently - Dawn Butler

CharlieParley · 13/12/2019 00:42

Anyone who thinks Scotland can waltz back into the EU if the separatists get their way is seriously deluded.

The EU pretty much stated Scotland couldn't automatically do that, didn't they?

This maybe a discussion for another day, but just wanted to say that's not quite right but not quite wrong either. What the EU said was that as there is no waiting list to join the EU and Scotland already met all membership conditions, it could apply to join and could do so without delay, but there is no automatically joining the EU.

And in my view, the issue really is - should an independent Scotland maybe rather than seeking to rejoin the EU on what will be different conditions perhaps first review carefully whether joining EFTA or just the EEA may be a better solution for us.

(There are pros and cons to all these options although it may well be harder for Scotland to join EFTA than to join the EU.)

Is the Brexit party picking up votes from Labour or Conservatives? If conservative then they have prevented them from gaining three seats which seems a bit against their interest?

FannyCann · 13/12/2019 00:44

Exit poll suggests Sarah Wollaston unsuccessful in Totnes.

I do hope so after her mean spirited car crash interview. And I hope Devon Rape Crisis give her the boot as patron too.

polarisation · 13/12/2019 00:44

80.38% turnout in East Dunbartonshire...

BeardedVulture · 13/12/2019 00:47

There was chat of possible voter fraud in some Scottish seats on the BBC.

ThePurported · 13/12/2019 00:50

And I hope Devon Rape Crisis give her the boot as patron too.

Aren't they the ones who were recruiting 'self-identified women' a while ago?

FannyCann · 13/12/2019 00:53

Whoops. I'd forgotten about that ThePurported ConfusedSad

FagashJackie · 13/12/2019 00:57

I emailed my lib Dems last night. They didn't respond. Not even a holding response. My email was really bland and factual. I was hoping for better. To be fair I was hoping for better tonight, but I think a hung Parliament would have been better.

FagashJackie · 13/12/2019 00:58

Sorry lots of betters in me old Post. It doesn't read so well.

ThePurported · 13/12/2019 01:03

It's so fucking disappointing Fanny. I do hope she loses her seat.

Found the thread www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3675976-Devon-Rape-Crisis-advertising-for-self-identified-women

This is what one of their service users wrote on Twitter at the time:

"You guys really helped me a few years ago. My handle is my real name - I’m sure someone there will remember me and the work we did together in Torquay. My rapist now identifies as a woman and would fucking love this job. He’s still in Devon so it would be a perfect fit."

CharlieParley · 13/12/2019 01:05

Nah, FagashJackie, don't apologise, I was hoping for better, too. Lots of better.

Chippenham result probably due around 3am.

Helen Belcher is the LibDem candidate.

I'm hopeful she came precisely nowhere - that's what the exit polls are indicating and my own experience as a teller today suggests - but will be happy to pop back and let you know.

In fact if she loses (and it would be for the third time here), I won't just be happy, I'll be delirious with joy.

SingingLily · 13/12/2019 01:11

Gah.

Didn't want to be deleted for, you know, literal violence.

Ibloodylovewomen · 13/12/2019 01:13

Is Helen Belcher the man who I saw giving a speech at an NHS event (on YouTube) or is that a different person?

Melroses · 13/12/2019 01:15

I have seen a 2.30am prediction on twitter. SNP still hopeful.

Not sure I can stay awake.
